[Multi-Genre] black. Vol. 3 Compilation

We can always count on black collective to deliver some next level records. Their LPs are some of the best in the world. They’ve previously released two as a part of a compilation series that gives money to charity. The chosen charity this time around is Give A Beat.

In partnership with Cadence & Cause, these compilations serve not only as beacons for musical evolution, but also as philanthropic pillars in the dance community. Artists like Kompany, ESQ, Adair, Revazz and Tuslo come back with some extra hot fire that is well worth the donation price. The third volume of black. rolls deep with a whopping fourteen singles. You just don’t find this much quality bass music in one place. Check out the full project and head over to Cadence & Cause to donate and get your copy. For more information about where your donation is going to, you may find out in the quote below.

Donations from black. Vol. 3 will go to Give a Beat, a non-profit organization that serves as a catalyst for social change by bridging global electronic dance music culture with youth and families impacted by incarceration. The money provided will help fund DJ workshops designed to promote self-confidence, empowerment, individuality, and healing from trauma. Many of the youth participants come from underserved communities that are grappling with poverty, crime and gang culture, over-policing, and incarceration of a family member. Expression through music and dance can foster positive connections and be a powerful force in inspiring a future that breaks the cycle of poverty and incarceration.

[Future Bass] Daijo – Red Dress ft. Aloma Steele

Depending on who you ask, Daijo may or may not be a new face to the scene. Although the Canadian producer just released his first original, “Red Dress” today, Daijo has already been making records. In the past he’s released a few remixes, as well as produced records for other artists. Now, he’s going full steam ahead with his own project.

“Red Dress” is a wonderful start to a new direction. One of our favorite vocalists, Aloma Steele, was recruited to aid in the creation of this smash hit that is just about as big of a statement as one could make. It’s an amazing record through and through. Daijo’s future synths work nicely together with Aloma’s sweet voice. “Red Dress” is an intimate song that plays around with your feelings between the different phases of the composition. Daijo is on our radar big time because of this one, while Aloma cements herself further as one of the premiere vocalists in the industry.

[Pop] Adara – Oasis

Colorado’s own Adara just came out with a superb song that is guaranteed to get stuck in your head. We would apologize, but we’re not going to. “Oasis” is the single we are referring to. Released by Archipelago Ent., Adara’s masterpiece is going to take your breathe away.

“Oasis” is exactly as you’d imagine, a sonic escape from the worries of the world. Her pop sound fits extremely well with the spunky future bass instrumental that her vocal soars from. There isn’t one thing wrong about this record; each tone, riff, drum fill, everything is where it needs to be. It’s sad to see when singers rely on the instrumental too much, but with Adara that is not the case. She is undoubtedly the star, shining with a performance that will leave you goosebumps. Love what you’re hearing? Get a copy of “Oasis” from iTunes.

[Electronic] LIOHN – Gold

We’re happy to tell you that LIOHN is back with another treasure. “Gold” has been released via Refune Music recently, coming after his spectacular single “Over U” that we fell in love with instantly. With “Gold” the same thing happened.

“Gold” is a bit more upbeat than the previous release by LIOHN, showing some degree of variation that we hope continues into the future. The future meets pop style is increasingly being the go-to sound and LIOHN owns it like no other here. “Gold” is exactly what it is, gold. Although it’s barely been out, we already know this is going to be a classic within the LIOHN catalog that is filled, and will continue to be filled with gems. If you don’t know LIOHN, “Gold” is a great place to start.

Constant Z – Rumors [TMN Premiere]

Russian’s own Constant Z has delivered a free download via the dojo in this Music Ninja Premiere. The song? It’s the new single “Rumors” whose deep house record is an exceptional piece of electronic music.

Even if they’re simply your guilty pleasure, everyone loves rumors. In regards to Constant Z’s “Rumors” you’re going to like it all the same, except there will be no guilt attached. Instead, you’ll be proudly dancing along to this melodic masterpiece. Constant Z’s dark edge fits so well with the topic at hand, but despite having that tone, the song is still quite lively and fun. We are proud to present this one to you for a first listen, so stream it now and don’t forget to download it before you leave!

[Drum & Bass] WRLD – Everything (ft. Ashdown)

Drum & Bass is one genre my ears can never get enough of. For that reason, I’m always ecstatic to see prominent players in the electronic music scene tackling tunes in this realm. One musician who frequently dabbles in the style in between foray’s into future bass and ambient sounds is the Dutch producer WRLD. His most recent endeavor, “Everything” combines the genre’s staple breakbeat with influences from bass music to create an infectious, futuristic dance tune. If you’re trying to get down to this one in person, definitely catch WRLD on his current US tour. Enjoy “Everything” above.

[Indie] Absofacto – Light Outside

Through the course of over a half-decade of blogging, there are tens of thousands of songs I’ve scanned through, never giving an ounce of attention to past that initial impression. Going one layer deeper, there are artists I’ve inexplicably freaked out about, frantically writing them up as if my life depended on it. Yet, some of those artists fade from the forefronts of my memories quite easily. Then, there are the artists that leave a lasting impression. The ones I clamor for, hoping the next release would just hurry up already.

For me, that’s Absofacto. His music has been with me in times of strife. It’s been with me in times of joy. It’s seen the rolling hills of Tuscany as I trained from city to city in search of self-affirmation. It speak to me, more so than a lot of my favorites.

I’ve had to live off old releases for sometime now, constantly pouring over “Dissolve” again and again. Sure, he’s had a few stellar collaborations with The Knocks, but that’s not Absofacto. “Light Outside” is. It’s every bit of that well-crafted, emotive, and deliciously indie-pop. It sends waves of warm remembrance over me, giving me that surge of dopamine I had experienced time and time again in the past.

Catchy in nature, as I’d expect, “Light Outside” is a wildly addictive thrill ride that courses through dance-inducing builds and beautifully orchestrated half-time lulls. It’s powerful, yet in a way that doesn’t overwhelm from its own defined pop sensibilities. The only negative thing I can say about it is it took way too long to come to fruition. If you’re reading this, Jon, pick up the pace with the next few releases, will ya?

[Multi-Genre] Helena Legend – No Explanations, Pt. 2

We weren’t sure where Helena Legend was going to go with the second installment of her No Explanations EP, but we’re extremely happy with where it went. With another three songs she shows just where her song writing can take her, moving in yet another direction from her past works, including Pt. 1.

Collaborators this time around include Sophie Hintze and Sade Serena whose vocal work on the first two tracks are incredible. In mentioning the first two singles, “Ghost Ya” and “One Night,” we must say that the moombahton sound is not what we expected at all. Helena took to a sound that has given producer’s pop hits in the past and in doing so she’s rivaling some major tunes with her own big tracks. With the last song, “U Don’t Love Me” we get a heavy, but highly musical trap single that is completely different from the vibe brought about by the first two singles. Oddly enough, it fits. No Explanations Pt. 2 is out now through Sony/Ultra on all digital services for those looking to add this to their library.

[Future Funk] Manic Focus – Stronger feat. Late Night Radio, Jennifer Hartswick & Adam Deitch

When Manic Focus releases something, you listen. It’s a must. He’s been quiet recently, but now a new single has surfaced with the promise of an album. Mind Rising is due out in April, but today we have “Stronger” featuring Late Night Radio, Jennifer Hartswick and Adam Deitch.

Manic Focus has made some of my all time favorite electronic music songs, so I wouldn’t be surprised if I add another to the list after the album drops, especially if the tracks are as good as “Stronger.” With this single we get a cool, funky jam that exemplifies the producer’s iconic style. All the parties involved worked together seemingly without any conflict, with the result being a super sweet record. Although the album isn’t due out until April 21st, “Stronger” is currently available on iTunes for purchase.

[Indie] Thalab – A Good Swim EP

It’s not often you get to hear two cousins making music together. Even at that, it’s more rare that the material is good. Well, today we have Thalab, the familial act whose EP, A Good Swim, is good indeed. Released on Juicebox Recordings, this four song project is a staple as far as indie music goes in 2017.

One of the great things about this EP is none of the tracks are too similar to each other. Sometimes indie bands stick with a certain sound, never branching out to new possibilities but Thalab does that with every song on the project. Not only do they keep things fresh, but each song is a hit, making it extremely difficult to pick a favorite. That’s how you know you’ve got something spectacular. Check out the EP below, as well as what the duo had to say about A Good Swim and grab a copy from iTunes.

A Good Swim was written and recorded last year in a room in London, by the two of us. All of the four songs came into their own in an intriguing way for us, we followed them rather than the other way around. There’s some second-rate psychoanalysis in there, some mythology, idealized kitsch landscapes and gardening problems. Both sound and words were the result of loosening up the way we approach making music.

[House] Will Vance – Days Go By

Time flies when you are enjoying yourself. The same can be said for “Days Go By” which you will be enjoying thoroughly. This smooth Will Vance single was released through THNK TNK Records last week and has been on our playlists ever since.

“Days Go By” is a soothing record whose cosmic sound is a delight to the ears. Will Vance’s minimalist, groovy style makes this song a great one for the clubs, or for anyone looking to find a good track to play while they get some work done, or even simply space out and chill. We’ve already used it for all the purposes above, and now you can too. “Days Go By” is currently available for purchase or stream on digital stores.

[Electronic] Mr. Skeleton & Severet – FRIDAY NIGHT

A new era has begun for the Los Angeles producer Mr. Skeleton. With a whole new image, Mr. Skeleton is looking to take over dance music by force. To start the new chapter of his life he released the single “FRIDAY NIGHT” on Cult222 with Severet.

“FRIDAY NIGHT” is a beast of a record. Dirty electro basses plague the composition that has some classic influences from older sounds of European dance music. The only thing is, these two acts put a totally different, more edgy, spin on the sound. In adding some much desired grit and grime, they put together a song that is going to get both newly found bassheads and older ravers together under one banner. As if things couldn’t get any doper, there’s some DnB action somewhere… We didn’t want to ruin the surprise completely, so you’ll have to listen through and enjoy it for yourself. Lastly, “FRIDAY NIGHT” is available on iTunes.

[Future Bass] Breathe Carolina x IZII – ECHO (LET GO) (Sean Turk Remix)

If you’re not familiar with Sean Turk, you better be soon. He’s quickly become one of the most sought after producers in dance music. This has resulted in the commission of an official remix by Spinnin Records who asked the New York creator to flip “ECHO (LET GO)” by Breathe Carolina x IZII.

Sean’s signature bedroom bass sound is exemplified in this soothing remix. He always manages to keep a cool edge to his songs while creating an atmosphere that gives the song that “big” profile. Although Sean kept “ECHO” near to the original style, he shows just what can be done within the future sound. He moved away from the more poppy vibe and brought out a sound that will play well to large festival crowds. Summer is coming, don’t be surprised when you hear this one being played out. Download your copy of the newly formed “ECHO” today through the digital service of your choosing.

[Dubstep] Chime x Rob Gasser x Brig – What The Funk

Daily Earfood has come in clutch with the free download of a huge new single from Chime, Rob Gasser and Brig. It doesn’t get much bigger than “What The Funk.” The three amigos have been putting out some dope records individually in the past for some time, but after coming together we are blown away even more than usual.

“What The Funk” is what a lot of dubstep producers want their tracks to be. Fresh, exuberant and clean, this single is one of the best dubstep songs to come out this year and we’ll even go out on a limb to say it will still be at the top of the list at the end of 2017. From start to finish you are fully engaged in the madness that these three producers created with their vast array of sounds. Super solid song, free download; it doesn’t get more awesome than that.

[House] JaySounds – The Vibe

Everyone is all about vibes. Good vibes seem to be sought after by ravers across the world. We hope those seeking “The Vibe” looked towards Sydney, Australia at the producer JaySounds. Ministry of Sound and Hussle Recordings put out this original, along with some remixes, recently and we can’t get enough. “The Vibe” is just right.

JaySounds kicks up some classic house sounds in this tune. We even get a taste of some hip-hop with some hot lyrics before the extremely groovy drop. If JaySounds and the labels behind him were looking for a hit, they’ve got it. “The Vibe” has it all. Clubs and festivals from the land down under all the way up to the icy north are going to be rocking out to this heater. Check out the original below, and head over to digital stores to check out the full EP, complete with a few remixes.

[Electronic] Spenda C – Release feat. Cult Shφtta

“Release” by Spenda C and Cult Shφtta is a hot one, plain and simple. Released by Sup Girl, this dynamic single will captivate you with its interesting style. Given just how good of a song this is, chances are you are going to want to grab it from the likes of iTunes after a listen through.

Spenda C and company put together a poppy, hip-hop track whose electronic base is as strong as it gets. It’s a fun listen, given the instrumental’s spunky nature. Throw on the vocals and you have a recipe for a record that will be satisfying ears for years to come. With Spring just around the corner, these are the song we’re going to be hearing when the sun is shining down upon us. Stream it, love it, buy it, then play it some more.

[Electronic] Niki & The Dove – Sushi King

Everybody loves sushi; well, at least, everyone we know. Chances are, those same people that make up everyone will enjoy “Sushi King” all the same. Niki & The Dove are the gracious creators of this smooth concoction that goes down easy.

“Sushi King” is one of those kickback anthems. It’s got a cool vibe that makes it a great song to throw on when you’re looking to escape from the craziness that is life. Niki & The Dove cooked up a subtly strange tune here that is strange in all the right ways. When listening you may think you have a straightforward electronic meets pop single, but what you really got is something entirely different. It’s an intriguing song that is perfect to kick off the weekend with.

Shadowgraphs – Scarlet Tunic [TMN PREMIERE]

Shadowgraphs is a self-described “neo-psychedelic” rock group that hails from Charlotte, North Carolina. Recently, they have been releasing music through Portland’s Golden Brown, an independent label/artist development group. Today, TMN is premiering Shadowgraphs’ latest single, “Scarlet Tunic” as a followup to their first single “Countryside”, both off their upcoming full-length album that’s due out this April.

“Scarlet Tunic” is an adventurously high-energy tune, continuing off of the retro-cool sound established on the first premiere single. It is an unmistakably psychedelic production that shows influence from 60’s surfer rock. The track features a harmonization of reverb and distortion-heavy guitars, while being anchored by a rock-steady bass line that provides structure in an otherwise frenetic song. Band member Wils Glade describes the song as:

the mental point you get to when you’ve stayed up for way too long, like a day or so, and reality begins to crumble around you.

You can certainly feel this mental battle when you hear the guitar riffs go up against the dream-like, ambient vocals. If you rocked out to this joint, pre-order the upcoming album (out April 7th) on Shadowgraphs’ Bandcamp.

[Ambient] dream beach – the kiss of the century (ft. cub)

Andy Oliver, AKA dream beach, has long been among my favorite forces in the ambient electronic scene. The watery, bell driven soundscapes he consistently crafts never fail to send me packing to extended vacations into my imagination. Thankfully, Oliver’s most recent endeavor, “the kiss of the century,” only expands on the otherworldly atmosphere that he has cultivated throughout his previous work.

The tune features fanciful singing from Detroit’s mystical vocalist CUB, and builds on it marvelously with swelling synths and hypnotic syncopation. In regard to his experience putting together this auditory imagery, Oliver told us:

“TKOTC I made mostly in total delirium. I can see myself fighting rest, barely even there, teary eyed. My favorite ideas come to me very late at night right before I’m about to fall asleep. To me the instrumental acts as audible hallucinations during what felt like temporary insanity.”

[Electronic] KRANE – SESSIONS_04 EP

Electronic music fans rejoice. The genre giant KRANE has put together yet another ecstasy inducing EP for our ears to enjoy. If you’ve been keeping up with the artist as of late, you’ll know the has a big thing for collaboration. In fact, KRANE has been teaming up to throw down on heavy hitting tunes so often that he created an open format label called SESSIONS to host these countless partnerships.

The most recent batch of tracks to be released under this project, SESSIONS_04, showcases work from rising names in the electronic music community such as DNMO, WYOMI, Laxcity, and Oceans. Throughout the project we find a consistent thread of heavy hitting trap breaks contrasted by elegant, pleasant melodies. So when you press play, be ready for a dynamic, high energy listening experience. If you’re looking to get acquainted with new names in the electronic music world, definitely keep your ear on KRANE going forward.

[House] Marc Vedo Feat. Kylie Auldist – Ride Of Your Life (Radio Edit)

Ultra Records has always been well regarded when it comes to putting out house music. The same can be said for the Bristol beatsmith Marc Vedo, who recently released a single with the veteran label. “Ride Of Your Life” dropped today, so it’s currently available for purchase on digital services if you so desire.

Marc Vedo isn’t the only one whose talents were brought to the table for this song. Singer Kylie Auldist performed on this vibrant house record. She adds a nice touch to a instrumental that, although strong, definitely is made for a vocalist to be on. With the upbeat Miami vibe, we can’t help but to think about MMW which is coming soon. We hope to hear this one while we’re there enjoying some sunshine!

[Electronic] Christine – Atom From Heart LP

Back in October the world was given a super cool music video from Christine for the single “Drama.” Little did we know we were getting a glimpse into what a full album had in store. Released through Uprise Music, the Atom From Heart LP, is here in full.

With eleven songs in total, Atom From Heart is a big package. Fans of old school house and French electro are going to be going wild for this LP. Most of the tracks fit within those styles, bringing a nostalgic sound to a dance community that tends to stray from taking a peak at what history has to offer. With artists only looking at making a break with what is hype, it’s nice to hear someone paving their own way. Great tracks like “Error 218,” “Lipstick” and “Howling Wave” are the reason this LP is a standout project. Christine cooked up some major tunes, so run through the entire album without skipping a beat. Want to buy it? Hit up iTunes.

[Future Bass] Dabin – You & I (feat. Jenna Pemkowski)

Dabin of Kannibalen Records has something special on the horizon. His album, Two Hearts, is set for release at the end of March, but the first single off the project has surfaced. “You & I” features the singer Jenna Pemkowski and is packed with all the vibes you could ask for in a song.

“You & I” is a beautiful song. Dabin always puts out emotional tracks but for some reason this sticks out as something even more potent than usual. If the rest of the album is like this, then Dabin is going to be one of the most hype artists on the market. Jenna Pemkowski is sure to make a name for herself too with her amazing performance on this single. Dabin’s soft synths play nicely together with her sweet voice and together they made a magical single that is a step in the right direction for the upcoming album. “You & I” is currently available for stream and the album is up for pre-order on iTunes.

Bad Royale & Gaudi Deliver Remixes For Balkan Beat Box [TMN Premiere]

Today we have a special premiere for you of not one, but two official remixes for Balkan Beat Box. One comes from our good friends Bad Royale and the other comes from the London creator GAUDI. Each of them have their own take on “Chin Chin” and each definitely had a different idea in mind of where to take things.

In going in nearly opposite directions, it’s cool to see just how easy it is for people to put their own spin on a song. With Bad Royale, we get a high-octane flip that sees the group’s Caribbean bass sound go all over the place, as they usually do. No matter what they release, it’s always a fun listen. GAUDI takes things much slower, with a laidback remix whose slight groove makes this the perfect kickback track. He manages to make two styles of music fit together that at first thought you might think against it. GAUDI not only makes it work, but he does so in a manner that exceeds even the best expectations.

In March, the electronic trio Trouze will be releasing their highly anticipated single “Busy.” However, they didn’t want fans to wait any longer for a new song from them, so they partnered up with the ninjas for the premiere of their “Splash” single.

“Splash” is a lively, progressive record whose familiar, yet unique sound will certainly turn some heads. Vibrant piano chords headline a composition that shows off true song-writing talent. This single is a sign of new things to come for the trio; a fresh start to a new chapter in their creative lives together. With three veteran musicians, Trouze is always able to bring strong tracks to the fold that are anything but average. “Splash” is no different, as it has everything a hit house instrumental needs. Enjoy a first listen to “Splash” today to get ready for the arrival of “Busy” next month.

[Event Review] Sango Returns to the Comfort of San Francisco

img_3336

. . .

Sango at Regency Ballroom, Friday February 3, 2017

“In the Comfort Of” Tour w/ Monte Booker

Sango has been pulling double duty for a few years now, touring at a constant pace while also releasing full length works consistently through the year. Following the release of his Dave B. collaborative album Tomorrow in 2016 which we covered here,  a nationwide tour kept the Seattle native busy well through the winter months. Shortly after the end of the Waldo/Sango tour, fans were gifted news that the star producer has been hard at work in the studio, a new release titled In the Comfort Of. While the latest project has not yet been circulated, Sango revealed the first single titled “Dance for Blessings” on the night of his Bay Area performance. Hoping to catch some of his new music as well as the evolution of his live performance since his October show, the Ninja team set out to the Regency Ballroom in San Francisco to evaluate.

Unsurprisingly, Sango did not disappoint. With an advanced set up comprised of multiple CDJs as well as the ever-challenging Novation Launchpad at his disposal, Sango took a distinctly different turn from previous performances. Mashing some of the Brazilian percussion-based elements made popular in his Da Rocinha album series, Sango sampled a healthy dose of hip hop and R&B tracks that were staples to our collective millenial childhoods. Starting with a reimagined version of UGK’s 2007 “Int’l Players Anthem”, Sango had the crowd engaged from Bar 1. Leaving a mark with his remixes of Justin Timberlake, Craig David, Missy Elliot and many more, Sango wrapped up the show with a satisfying Stwo remix to his most impressive song, “Middle of Things”.

Listen to “Dance for Blessings” on Spotify here , on Soundcloud here, or if you prefer on Tidal.

El Dusty – TLC feat. DJ Blass [TMN Premiere]

EDC Mexico is having more than just the festival. As a part of the experience, the people over at Insomniac have put together the festival compilation, featuring a multitude of talented artists from the lineup. One of the songs on the project, “TLC,” is by El Dusty and DJ Blass. Instead of waiting for the full compilation to be out, we partnered up with them on giving you a first listen through this premiere.

“TLC” is a Latin flavored house record that is sure to go off well with the massive crowds down in Mexico. The deep, groovy style makes this one perfect for clubs, but it’s got enough energy and power to satisfy all the ravers in the festival atmosphere. It’s nice to hear something a bit different, but given the festival we’re focusing on, it’s a perfect match. The full EDC Mexico compilation will be out on February 17th, with works from the likes of Kayzo, UNIIQU3, G-Buck, Happy Colors and more.

[Trap] Ryden – Murderer

Ryden is back. Every time she comes out with something, our eyes and ears are at the ready. Today she kicks up an interesting tune for the holiday called “Murderer” that is anything but your average V-Day song. In fact, she’s deemed it an “anti-love” song, paying it forward to people in need of their own individual breakthroughs.

With Ryden, you can always expect true art. Her creations are filled with her own experiences in life, something some creators aren’t too open about doing; or if they do, they water things down a bit to fit the mold they are going for. Ryden and especially “Murderer” aren’t watered down a bit. With this single we get to see her usual orchestral influenced sound that is quite striking in contrast to a lot of work coming out today. She is an artist paving her own way and that’s something we can respect. Get “Murderer” today on the digital service of your choosing.

[Future Bass] ILIVEHERE. – Coming Home

The good people over at bitbird dropped a hot one today. ILIVEHERE. came out with the heavenly single “Coming Home” to give fans something to enjoy on Valentine’s Day. The blissful feeling this song exudes is akin to the same feeling you get when you come home to the one you love.

As you would imagine, “Coming Home” is one of those songs that takes a hold of your heart – and your ears – and doesn’t let go. A great song has strong emotions; this one is more than a great song. The celestial synths feel as though they are overtaking you, encompassing your existence and fueling your mind and body with raw sentiments of warmth and comfort. It’s the perfect song to cuddle up next to your significant other with tonight as the sun goes down. Don’t take them for granted and don’t do the same for “Coming Home.” Download it today.

[Indie] Least Of Creatures – Candlelight

Seattle’s Least Of Creatures makes his Heroic Recordings debut with the single “Candlelight.” With it we get a sincere record that speaks to the soul. “Candlelight” has just been released today and by the end of this post, you’ll be wanting to grab this one online.

Sometimes when creators try and bring all the feels they can into a track, it feels a bit forced. “Candlelight” is an all natural expression that will leave a lasting impression on listeners of all demographics. Least Of Creatures isn’t your average songwriter, as we get a sense that his sound can go several ways in the future. We look forward to hearing just which ways it goes. Check out “Candlelight” today and see what the artist had to say about the song himself below.

I’m not sure if it’s distinctive but it’s honest and for the most part exactly how I intended it to be. The track is soft and emotional with a touch of illegibility. I’d like an explanation point of interest to pop above listeners heads and intrigue in my future projects.

FOMO – My Love (feat. Aybe) [TMN Premiere]

Today is Valentine’s Day if the mass amount of advertising didn’t make you aware already. To honor this holiday we’ve partnered up with Warpaint RecordsFOMO to premiere the single “My Love” with Aybe. Share it with your loved one while you celebrate today. More importantly, take it with you in the future to help show your love on any given day.

“My Love” is an inspiring tune if you don’t happen to fall in the category of people with a significant other. After going through a break-up himself, FOMO ended up finding love again and created this song as a token of gratitude to the realization that there is indeed a soul out there meant for you. Besides being a deeply emotional song, it’s a really amazing tune even if you’re just looking to dance. FOMO and Aybe make quite the pair and we’re glad they came together on this special song. [R&B] AMiR – Save Me

“Save Me” is the first of what we hope are many songs from artist AMiR. As I write this the UK musician has less than 25 followers on Soundcloud, but that is sure to rise given time. “Save Me” will sink in and more projects will come. Then there’s no telling where AMiR will be.

R&B with pop or hip-hop has been a staple on the airwaves for a long time now. “Save Me” fits right into that category, but has a sort of unblemished quality to it. Sometimes R&B can feel a bit forced to sound like something, but the vibes that AMiR puts out are all genuine. As a trend, we’ve noticed song lengths starting to wane, so it’s nice to hear something that’s closer to the four minute mark that doesn’t get dull at any moment. AMiR may just be the hot new ticket in town, so don’t miss out.

[House] LCAW feat. Dagny – Man In The Moon

The Munich music maker LCAW is back with a new single called “Man In The Moon” that features the vocalist Dagny. Released via Ultra/Sony, this smooth house jam is one hell of a song. Together these acts put together a radio-friendly single that is even more friendly to dance crowds across the world.

“Man In The Moon” is an easy listen. The light, poppy vibe it expresses makes for a good Summer time record, but we’re totally cool with getting it early. After all, Spring is on its way and this single will get our minds right for the change of season. Dagny’s performance on the song is a definite highlight, and it runs throughout, instead of simply staying around to accompany the intro and breakdown phases. LCAW’s production on this record is magnificent though. The way it develops from beginning to end makes for a stimulating listen time and time again. This one won’t get old fast. [House] MALAA – BYLINA

“Oh shit,” were the first words that came to mind when MALAA’s “BYLINA” was dropped in my inbox. Coming off his upcoming ‘Illegal Mixtape’ Bylina is a Russian term that roughly translates to an epic narrative often kept alive through oral tradition and the track perfectly embeds a vocal narrative and MALAA’s signature G-house sound.

This latest impression keeps a classic element and cascades into, no better way to describe it, a very dark and dirty drop. Elements of cinematic and funk are woven into this house melody giving MALAA fans another poignant taste of the talent that resides on the Confessions label. The vocals work into an agreeable narrative calling House Music “a healer, and something that picks you up when you’re feeling down.” We’re thinking this track is going to make it to the forefront of festival season and if you find MALAA on a lineup make sure to catch him because this track has us moving in our chairs so we can only imagine what it’ll do to us live. [Electronic] Tep No – Is It Too Much That I’m Asking For

Ultra Records has a lot of talent on their roster, but one of their hidden gems is Tep No. This producer, singer and songwriter flexes all his talents with his new single “Is It Too Much That I’m Asking For” that was released a couple days ago. With it we get to see just how good Tep No is in all facets of musical creation.

“Is It Too Much That I’m Asking For” is a magical piece of music. The midtempo pace partnered with the laidback vibe fit perfectly together and in adding the sweet topline of Tep No, there’s no way you’re not going to be at least bobbing your head along to this one. The most likely scenario is your whole body will be grooving while you sing the lyrics. It’s always nice to hear producers throw in acoustic sounds into their productions to give a nice natural edge to it. Want a copy? Beatport has you covered.

[Indie Dance] Monsieur Adi feat. RED – Stay Up Late (Radio Edit)

Released by Robbins Entertainment, “Stay Up Late” is a fiery record. With a hint of old school flavor, “Stay Up Late” is the creation by Monsieur Adi and RED. Infectious and fun, this is the song you are going to be aching for when you’re out late in the night.

“Stay Up Late” has a lot going on in it. With influences from pop, disco and house, it’s an extremely seductive song whose catchy sound will quickly grab your attention without letting up. It’s not what we’re used to hearing, with many producers looking to break the mold and dive into the future, so it’s nice to hear something that has this classic flare meets new school energy. Monsieur Adi and RED work wondrously together, playing off each other incredibly well without hindrance. “Stay Up Late” is the song you need for your party playlists, so get a copy of it off iTunes and add it today.

[Future Bass] Magnifico & Taptone – Sonata

Future bass meets dance, meets instrumentals, meets bouncy synths; Magnifico and Taptone’s “Sonata” released on Lowly Palace, has taken a bit everything and melded it together into a dramatic production that we’re 100% on board with.

Upon pressing play the track builds into a climactic drop laden with the all familiar sound of trumpets, an instrument that adds a positive flair in so many great productions. This infectious track delves into an unexpected moment of a smoother melody where, yet again, an instrumental is featured, this time luscious piano chords slowing everything down before reviving into the upbeat dance track. The back and forth between this fluttering heartbeat of a track leaves us feeling satisfied but ready for more. Ups and downs may be hard in life, but in music they’re a welcome distraction. “Sonata” is available as a free download.

[Indie] Kidswaste – Wild feat. Khai

Ultra and Next Wave partnered up on the release of “Wild” by the French producer Kidswaste. This indie single features the ever so talented Khai, who offers up his ravishing voice to the song. Together these two created a wonderful tune.

Despite it’s name, “Wild” isn’t actually all that wild. It’s a slow, intimate record who’s soft melodies and acoustic instrumentation sooth the soul to its very core. With such an organic sound, the song strips away your emotional safeguards to connect on some real levels with you. Unhindered, the impact the song has is lasting, making it a song you will always come back to. “Wild” is currently out now on all digital services, so head to the one of your choosing to get a copy.

[House] LO’99 & Marshall F – Fallen

Aussie producer and DJ LO’99 isn’t new to the electronic music scene. With support from a large range of artists this producer has certainly garnered attention, especially in his home country of Australia, but his dramatically dark club hits have raised eyebrows across the world as of late and “Fallen” with Marshall F has proven to be just as tantalizing as his past hits.

The pairing of female vocals with the deep top line gives this track an element of darkness but boasts an upbeat tempo giving the track its rightful place in some of the hottest clubs. Spring and Summer are quickly approaching and we’ve found the perfect track to transition from late night extravagance to early morning after hours. The track is available for streaming on Spotify and Soundcloud, and for purchase on iTunes. Grab it here.

[Trap] GTA & What So Not – Feel It feat. Tunji (FIGHT CLVB Remix)

Mmmmmm, this new remix from FIGHT CLVB is the B’s knees. “Feel It” by GTA, What So Not and Tunji is what got flipped by the duo. Not an easy track to try and remix, but FIGHT CLVB killed it with this one. I don’t mean they just did a good job on it; I mean they really knocked it out of the park without any doubt.

First off, the song starts right into some sweet dembow, throwing some love moombah’s way in the introduction. As much as we wanted to hear moombah, they hit us with something even more ferocious. A twerk-savvy drop got our booties shaking right away and we didn’t stop until the song was over. Then we restarted it and proceeded to do it all over again. FIGHT CLVB continue to put out amazing tunes of different styles, showing over and over that they are underrated. At some point dance music listeners are going to realize what they’ve been missing out on, and the FIGHT CLVB train is going to be packed to the brim.

[Indie Dance] Two Friends ft. Cosmos & Creature – Out Of Love

The Two Friends new single released on Spinnin Records (SOURCE) is a definite hit. “Out Of Love” was created in partnership with the Toluca Lake duo Cosmos & Creature. No matter what genre you want to call this, the other label you will be putting on it is something along the lines of amazing.

“Out Of Love” is a laidback sing-along that is about as memorable as a song can get without being overly catchy (and cheesy). The tasteful tune is definitely the song that will have crowds whipping out their lighters to raise up to the sky. Good vibes only on this one, which is why it’s so easy to envision the crowd calming down to really connect and bask in this special single. Plus, it’s got saxophone. Things don’t get much better than a great song with a sax.

[Hip-Hop] CJ Warren & Fre$h – Fre$h Jays EP

Two of WiseMind‘s emcees, CJ Warren & Fre$h, just dropped a hot one from their studio in Detroit. The duo’s EP, Fre$h Jays, is a strong underground hip-hop record that stands out among the rap that can be heard over the airwaves today.

Depending on who you ask, hip-hop either is or isn’t in a state of crisis. As far as CJ Warren and Fre$h are concerned, there is no crisis in their camps. With Fre$h Jays they bring some fire throughout the five singles, with some added heat from KyleYDG on the last song “Shots in the Whip.” The style shifts throughout the project, giving it a dynamic edge that is lost in a lot of rap nowadays. A huge part of that comes from CJ Warren who not only raps on the album, but produced it as well. Stream it today while you kick back over the weekend.

[Video] Point Blank Educates On History Of Techno

Over the past several years, the dance music producer has taken hold as the new rock star. People were jumping at the opportunity to enter into producing music as its ease of access allowed for many who previously were unable, to now begin creating. Some of those people went to schools to learn, or perused through tutorials online. One of the best institutions who partake in both types of classes is Point Blank.

Voted as the best electronic music school, Point Blank is a staple in the electronic music education system. They are a go to source for nearly everything, including the history of dance music. They recently put out part one of their video series in regards to techno. In it James Wiltshire goes over the history of the genre, as well as some sound design techniques to get people started in creating techno.

This video is just the tip of the iceberg as far as Point Blank’s catalog is concerned. With a seemingly infinite amount of online materials, as well as locations in Los Angeles and London, Point Blank has what you need whether you’re a beginner, an expert, or just someone who is looking to learn some interesting things about dance music.

[Electronic] FRND – Substitute

FRND is back with a new single to – in a way – celebrate Valentine’s Day. Although it’s not about a straightforward relationship, the song centers around the true love that one has for another, even if they are with someone else.

“Substitute” is a highly emotional tune. FRND churns out his signature sound in this one that we, as well as fans, can’t get enough of. With this single, FRND is going to play with your feelings. If you’ve ever been in this situation, don’t be surprised if you end up reaching for some tissues. The lyrics, the melody, the vibe; everything works together to really strike deep in the listener and engage them in the song. It’s more than just a bunch of tones together, it’s a genuine expression that you can feel. Stream the song today and see just what FRND had to say about the song below.

Substitute is about realizing you’re someone’s option while they are your priority. You know what you feel is real but they refuse to leave their comfort zone and commit to you. In other words, just break up with your bf already.

Ruby Haunt – Freeway Crush (Nutrition Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Although we like to share songs with you that you can take home with you, we also love to give you exclusive sneak peaks at what’s coming. For instance, today we’re sharing with you a remix by the producer Nutrition of “Freeway Crush” originally by Ruby Haunt. Thanks to the good people over at Majestic Casual, we’re giving you a first listen in this premiere.

Nutrition’s reinterpretation of “Freeway Crush” a bit more energy and a higher pace than the original. It still has the indie-dance sound that categorizes it, but Nutrition brings in some house qualities that give the track new life. This soft atmospheric single is perfect to wind the week down and transition over the a relaxed weekend. Whether you’re up and dancing, or kicking back to space out, the newly defined “Freeway Crush” is the anthem of the night tonight. [Electronic] Imanos – Gunshy (feat. Pusha T & Karen Harding)

Vancouver resident and Casablance Records signee Imanos just dropped a genre-defying single with Pusha T and Karen Harding. Together these three cooked up “Gunshy,” the producers debut original single. It’s been a long time coming but now it is finally here in full.

“Gunshy” is a cool sort of duet, with Pusha T’s rapping playing off Karen’s sweet vocal. For a first song, Imanos didn’t pull any punches with his instrumental that is “a straight banger” as Imanos puts it in his own words. We’d have to agree. The quality of this single is just what you would expect coming from a major label artist. Even in working with someone as big as Pusha T, Imanos stands his ground as an artist deserving of all the same type of recognition. Get your copy of “Gunshy” today.

Dive Into The Mind Behind Two of Norway’s Biggest Hits, Julie Bergan [TMN Interview]

Julie Bergan is what pop music needs, even if it doesn’t know it yet. From her home in Norway, Julie has been the creative mind behind two of the country’s biggest hits. First came “Arigato” then “Blackout,” both of which share a similar future pop sound that is steadily becoming a go to style for many artists. The only thing is, Julie is doing everything right.

These two songs have went viral on Spotify, and each have their own music video that have seduced fans from all around the world. With multi-million plays each, Julie is turning heads in a big way. She’s making all the moves she needs to pave the way to becoming one of music’s biggest stars.

We sat down recently with Julie to get a sense of where she’s come from and where she’s going. Part of where she’s going is – hopefully – everywhere, as she just unveiled her new live show. It’s already taking Europe by storm and we’d like to see her make her way across the pond. Enjoy the amazing music video for her single “Blackout” before diving into our conversation with one of music’s brightest talents.

TMN: “Arigato” was a huge moment for you in 2016. Tell us a bit about your breakthrough single – did you expect the track to leave as big of a footprint as it did?

JB: I was blown away by the way it was received. The whole track was based on a conversation I had with a friend about her over controlling boyfriend. I think everyone has the right to take their own risks and live life without someone trying to bubble wrap them. Relationships can be a place where this happens the most, so ‘Arigato’ was very much a track about liberating yourself from a safe and controlled environment. To see it stream and gain as much love as it did was really touching.

TMN: “Blackout” marked what seemed to be another very personal single from you. What can you tell us about the inspirations behind the single? Was it at all nerve-wracking to follow-up “Arigato”?

JB: “Blackout” is very much about being stuck in your own head and the mental barriers that appear in life. The idea was having these little “Blackout” moments are the only way to escape and find yourself. The video very much echoed this idea and I was very proud of how the track came out. I tried not to think of it too much as just a ‘follow-up’ to “Arigato.” I want every track to stand on its own feet and speak for me as an artist. The response has been great and I feel very positive about kick-starting 2017 with the single.

TMN: Where do you find the most inspiration from musically?

Real life is definitely one of the biggest influences on my music. Part of the blessing in making music is finding a way to translate human emotions into relatable art or memories. I am lucky because I get to see and be part of the whole process, from the creation of the music to the performance. All of my material to date has been inspired by real situations and feelings and I like to think that people can relate because of that.

TMN: You’ve recently been showcasing the live element of your project. How important was it from the start that your music could be re-produced and performed live?

JB: It has always been very important. I think listening to the records you can get an idea for my energy, but the show is where we can really bring it to life. I have been dancing since I was a child, so to be able to incorporate that to music I have made myself is of course a really fun thing. I am super lucky to have an amazing band behind me and the more we are playing the more people are seeing the fuller picture of what my music is about. I get to be involved in every aspect of it creatively, from the sets to the design, so it is a very personal and important side of the music for me.

TMN: What do you consider to have been the biggest challenge or obstacle to you within your career so far?

JB: The blessing and curse of anything involving creativity is that it’s easy to overthink. You can become obsessed or overprotective of certain aspects of a song or yourself and then when this happens it is hard to get out of your own head or make decisions on what should be the solution. With time I think I have been able to become really comfortable with my style and sound, as well as what I want to stand for as an artist.

TMN: You started 2017 on huge form with ‘Blackout,’ what can we be expecting for the year ahead?

JB: New music!! We are doing a lot of great shows around Europe off the back of “Blackout,” but there is plenty more to come for the rest of the year and I am very excited to show it off soon.

LACEI – Sufferer [TMN Video Premiere]

Ready for the first viewing of the new music video from LACEI? You better be because we’ve got you covered with the premiere of “Sufferer,” the Los Angeles duo’s single. “Sufferer” comes off the group’s previously released EP, 11:11, that was released on October 20th, 2016.

LACEI are recognized for their indietronica sound and engaging live show. Within the music video, you get a real sense and understanding of just why that is. The visually striking music video has a simple concept, yet in execution it is quite profound. In expanding “Sufferer” the duo showed their range in creativity, while paying homage to a style of video that they knew as youngsters. It has that old-school edge to it that many act’s don’t dare try to replicate in their own way. Check it out below, along with a short quote from the band talking about the video.

We and director Andrew Choi, created a visual that showcases the live energy of the band as well as conveys the storyline through interpretive dance.

[TMN Premiere] J Cole – G.O.M.D (Riddim Commission Remix)

Comprised of  BBC Radio 1Xtra & Rinse FM host Marco Del Horno & Dirtee Stank Recordings regular DJ Swerve, UK duo Riddim Commission have begun firmly entrenching themselves as two of the most sought-after tastemakers toiling under the proper House umbrella. From genre-bending original singles which showcase Riddim Commision’s infectious blend of house, garage, & grime to official remixes for the likes of Drake & Iggy Azalea, Riddim Commission have dotted their name across a number of aural aesthetics; proving their production prowess reaches far beyond that of the underground. The latest from the active pair is a brand new bootleg of J.Cole‘s “G.O.M.D”, and we’re ecstatic to be rinsing it first here on TMN.

On Riddim Commision’s jacking revision of “G.O.M.D.”, the pair successfully alter and carefully scale back J. Cole’s lyrical samples behind an effortlessly subtle dose of swooping staccato synth work and rhythmically choppy vocal reshuffling. Their version’s dominant melody & prevalent groove sit front and center amongst a sea of permutated electronicism while maintaining the essence of J. Cole’s original. Shuffled hi-hats skip along like a couple of merry schoolgirls cutting class on a Friday afternoon, while a dose of jackin’ sub bass never quite relinquishes its icy grip throughout the tune. The quickly ascending pair manage to keep their hot streak alive with their latest offering, and suffice to say, if you’re looking to add a bit of pep to your step, we’ve got you covered with Riddim Commision’s “G.O.M.D” remix above.
