[Get Crunk] Friday Party Playlist (Vol 240)

Now that Miami Music Week is over and we’ve had time to recover, we’re back in (somewhat) full swing. This week may have been tough for many, whether it’s because of midterms, recovering, or whatever else you got yourself into, but now it is the weekend. It’s time to relax, or even better: start the party again! This week we were feeling a bit edgy, so we collected some darker and heavier tunes than usual. This doesn’t mean we didn’t give you some lighter party tunes to groove to. This week we have work from dEVOLVE, Parker, Ducky, HAEZER, Crankdat and MUST DIE!, as well as collaborations between Havok Roth x LEViT∆TE and Walshy Fire x Bad Royale x DJ Puffy. That’s not all, as there are a few more singles yet to be mentioned as well as a mix from Aston Shuffle to close things out and give you that extra bit of music you need. Lastly, don’t forget to #danceirresponsible while you’re out tonight!

[Dubstep] Kompany – Kill Humans EP

I’ve had the personl pleasure of catching Kompany live recently, which means I’ve had the pleasure of hearing some of his Kill Humans EP with a full sound system. I was highly impressed and now that we’ve ran through all four singles in the dojo, all the ninjas are on board with this amazing EP.

Released through our friends over at Firepower Records, this four track project is a treasure chest of bass. “Kill Humans” kicks off the EP with some dark, cinematic sounds that lead into some insanely vicious growls that will rip your speakers to shreds if you aren’t careful. Next comes “Creepin’,” a twerk-friendly beast whose in-your-face attitude fits just in line with the EP’s overall tone. The only collaboration on Kill Humans comes next in the hybrid “Arcadia,” which was created alongside TYNVN. Lastly, “At ‘Em” closes out the project with it’s machine-gun style bass work. Overall, Kill Humans is dope through and through. Get your copy of the EP today through digital services.

[Dubstep] Basstrick – Clown Party

With the coming of the remake of “It” I wasn’t planning on doing anything with clowns anytime soon because that new trailer is a bit freaky (I’ll still see it anyways). That was until “Clown Party” by Basstrick came through the pipeline thanks to the people over at Buygore Records. Now, I’m all about the clownin’.

“Clown Party” has quickly become one of my favorite dubstep tracks of the year. There’s not one thing about it that even slightly should be changed. Dubstep usually isn’t too catchy, but this I just can’t get out of my head. Every bass, the synth lines; everything about it is good. It even dips into some dembow which is a favorite rhythmic poison of mine. Whether you’re a dancing raver or a headbanger, “Clown Party” will suffice for your particular passion. Basstrick has put out some incredible singles in the past, but this one takes the cake. Grab a copy of it today through the digital service of your choice.

[Electronic] Dabin – Two Hearts LP

It’s been a long time coming, but Dabin‘s full length album is finally here. Two Hearts was released today through Kannibalen Records, so the LP is currently available on digital platforms for you to stream or download. I’m going to tell you now that you are going to be adding this to your library; it’s well worth the price.

Two Hearts features eleven singles with collaborations from Mree, Jenni Potts, Lexi Norton, Koda, Madi, label mate Apashe and one of Youtube’s finest stars in Daniela Andrade. This project is more than an album, as it expresses a familiar tale of love and loss that many, if not all, of us have gone through. Dabin reaches deep, bringing out strong emotions, both happy and otherwise to bring this album to life. Favorite singles off the LP include “Lilith” and “Hazy” but that doesn’t take anything away from the other incredible records like the highly successful singles “Hold” and “You & I.” Don’t skip a beat as you check out the full album below and make sure not to forget to get a copy!

[Mix] FFFELIX – DANK FLIPS VOL.1

Judging by the title, you’d think this is some “fire” mix with tons of “heaters” and “bangers”. Well think again – FFFELIX is about to prove you wrong.

The French producer, whose real name is indeed Felix, comes out with a 6-track mix consisting of all original flips of old and new R&B/hip-hop tracks. Faith Evans‘ “Love Like This”, Snoop Dogg‘s “Peaches N Cream”, Miguel‘s “Adorn” and Migos‘ “Get Right Witcha” all got the Felix treatment, just to name a few. It’s a great treat for those who digs great production and chill vibes all around.

Dank or not, we definitely recommend you to check out this mix. It is now out on Record Record, and is available for a free DL. Go grab before it’s too late!

PsyFi – Prophets [TMN PREMIERE]

Miles Ross comes in peace. Mr. Ross, who produces under the moniker Psy-FI, comes from a galaxy not so far away (Oakland, CA) with “Prophets”, a forward-thinking single from his upcoming future bass full-length release, Totality, out April 4th on Gravitas Recordings.

The “Arrival”-esque album cover prepares you for a large and impending event, and “Prophets” delivers. Psy-FI’s strong percussive backdrop, which has evolved over the years, puts the space-age soundscape of his synthesizers into sharp relief Wide, shining chords take the fore during the drops, but they give way to undulating low-end bass in a bit of call-and-response. This atypical arrangement keeps you on your toes. Despite the presence of so many aggressive sounds, Psy Fi makes good use of the negative space in “Prophets”, always a tasteful touch especially with bass-heavy electronic music.

With “Prophets” as a preview, we thoroughly look forward to more of Psy Fi’s extraterrestrial offerings on his full-length release, Totality, out April 4 on Gravitas Recordings.

[Music Video] Colin Domigan – Been Busy

One of dance music’s most down to Earth treasures is Colin Domigan. The Boston beat-maker is making his way back to us and has now delivered his second single of the year. “Been Busy” marks the beginning of the unveiling of Colin’s Buddy List album. With this first single we get a glimpse into what to expect from the project.

“Been Busy” didn’t come in simple sonic form, as a music video accompanies the audio file. Colin has always had high respect for the history of dance music, which is why his music pays homage to the style’s that came before his work. His techy, minimal sound is catchy, fun and exciting in a tasteful way. He captures your ears and body together without trying too hard. With the video, we get the same intimate vibe with images taken from a trip of his. Simple, thoughtful and memorable, Colin’s “Been Busy” release is a must have. Check it out today and head over to Bandcamp to get a copy.

[Music Video] Shiny Wet Machine – Euphoria

It’s always nice to deliver some good news. Today, we have great news for you coming from the Shiny Wet Machine camp. Not only do we have the release date for their Lights Out EP, but we have a music video for the “Euphoria” single. While you watch the raw video you can smile knowing the duo’s EP will be out on April 25th through their label Diet Punk.

“Euphoria” is an extremely fun record and the video to go along with it is equally so. Nothing about this single or the Shiny Wet Machine project at large is watered down or filtered in any way. Punk rock lives and breathes through this group and we can’t wait to see and hear what else is in store. Their sound, their attitude, their artwork and brand as a whole is as good as it gets and the rock world needs their edge. Enjoy “Euphoria” today and get ready for the full EP release coming in just a few short weeks.

[Electronic] CRi – Rush (feat. Ouri)

Young Art Records is home to some incredibly beautiful pieces of music. One of those such pieces is “Rush” by the Canadian producer CRi and Ouri. Released on the Someone Else EP, this intriguing single may be the best song on the entire project.

Although we are simply sharing “Rush” don’t let that stop you from checking out the entire EP through iTunes if you’re looking to get a copy. “Rush” starts out as an ethereal adventure into soothing soundscapes that touch your soul. You would expect it to stay similar throughout as a concluding record, but things change as time passes. Around halfway CRi gives the song some edge by moving more towards a fast-paced vibe, introducing drum & bass percussion to pick up the pace. This is a must listen and if you like what you hear, check out the entire EP.

[Electronic] MOONZz x Restless Modern – Navigator

One of our favorite vocalists is MOONZz. When we first heard she was coming out with a new single we were quite excited and after listening to it for the first time, we were even more excited than before. The collaboration with Restless Modern on “Navigator” is amazing to say the least.

MOONZz has big things ahead, but with each step forward she manages to surpass every expectation that fans and industry figures alike have for her. The blending of pop with electronic is not something new or even unique, but MOONZz keeps in her own lane with regard to the two styles, showing off why she is someone to be respected and adored. With “Navigator” we get a whole lot of emotion, something that is never lacking in her work. She isn’t just an artist, she is a storyteller. If you didn’t know that already, you will after listening to “Navigator.” Love it like we do? Get your copy on iTunes.

[Electronic] Dooqu – How Long (feat. Trove)

Denmark’s Dooqu teamed up with the Australian vocalist Trove to create “How Long.” The light-hearted, but lively single was just released through the Heroic Recordings imprint. It’s just the type of track you’d expect from the label, but even at that Dooqu did something especially notable with this song.

Future bass is an easy genre to water down. “How Long” doesn’t even come close to being a cheesy re-up on a style that is and has been hype for quite some time. What we get here is something funky and fresh. It’s familiar, but different all at the same time. Trove’s performance on this is a highlight; he makes sure to standout instead of simply standing by and that’s the mark of a special singer. We’d love to hear more from these two, both together or separately, as they each bring something unique to the table. Check out the song, as well as a quote below from the producer and then head over to the song’s landing page for a free download!

I want people to feel they are a part of the different levels of energy in the song. The smooth and relaxing vocal of Trove taking the song in his hand and pushing it to its maximum. It surprises you when the drop hits, but somehow it feels so expected anyway.

Jake Houlsby – Oklahoma [TMN PREMIERE]

It’s the middle of the week, which means its time to stop, take a moment to reflect, and drink in everything that’s coming your way in the next few days. To begin the process, we highly recommend delving into this lovely tune from Newcastle-based Jake Houlsby. It’s the perfect blend of shoegaze, pysch-rock, and folk to get you in the right frame of mind for some self-reflection.

This is just the second track coming off his upcoming Vondelpark EP, due out May 5th via Tipping Point Records, and it should have you clamoring for a full experience with the entire collection. Pronounced percussion work definitely provides a hearty backbone, allowing glowing keys and guitars to settle in nicely behind. Each of these elements comes together beautifully, providing the perfect soundscape for Jake’s unique vocal tone and delivery.

You might be asking yourself how a young fellow from the UK landed on a song title for what most Yanks would consider a “fly-over” state. Here’s what he had to say about it:

“There’s something about the American South that has always enchanted me. I’d just read Woody Guthrie’s autobiography a few years ago when I remember seeing Oklahoma and getting this weird feeling of discount and nostalgia. I wrote this song shortly after.

We’ll go ahead and assume that you’re feeling this release, which means you’ll want to catch it live. You can do so by hitting up one of the following shows below.

Apr 29 – Live At Leeds

May 5 – The Mining Institute, Newcastle

May 6 – The Eagle Inn, Manchester (supporting Joan Shelley)

May 20 – The Great Escape Festival, Brighton

[Electronic] Manic Focus – Putting All Of My People On Feat. ProbCause

As we inch closer to the release of a new album from Manic Focus, we get another single from the Chicago producer. “Putting All Of My People On” has the beatsmith going a bit more hip-hop focused alongside ProbCause for a saucy trapped out single.

Hip-hop has always been an influence in works by Manic Focus, but here he really narrows in on the style, bringing in a dynamic, yet thuggish instrumental that shows a veteran understanding of rap beats. It’s more than a simple beat, it’s an entire song in itself, but to sweeten the pot we get some ingenious lyrics on top. Blending these genres together has been done before, but Manic Focus manages to show why he deserves your ears over other talents. We can’t wait to see just what the album has in store, but for now you can purchase “Putting All Of My People On” through iTunes today.

[House] Lucky Rose feat. Tep No – Wild One

As if managing Ultra Music Festival wasn’t enough, the Ultra team put out one hot record with Lucky Rose and Tep No. Despite it’s name, “Wild One” is quite tame. This uplifting house single was the perfect release to have before the madness that is Ultra.

Now that we’ve had some time to get back into gear, we’re still jamming out to this acoustically influenced original. There are a lot of great house records out and there always will be, but every so often a song comes along that peaks out above the rest. “Wild One” is one of those. Although it was created by up and coming artists, it rivals some of the current top tracks in our opinion. Lucky Rose and Tep No are making it really hard not to buy this one, so head over to the digital service of your choice when the urge takes over to get a copy.

[Hip-Hop] Exmag – Touch feat. Jubee

Exmag is back. That should be enough to get you excited. “Touch” is their new single off Majestic Casual that features the emcee Jubee. This funky, hip-hop infused original is just what both the electronic and rap worlds need to hear at the moment. Fresh, fun and fevered, this is one hot single.

The three members of Exmag and Jubee work incredibly well together. Jubee is familiar with the funky future style that Exmag brings to the table so it is not surprising that his performance on this record sounds so fluid and perfect. What makes “Touch” so palpable is it’s organic sound, one that could easily be reproduced in a live setting. From start to finish all we encounter is pure fire, from every tone of the beat to every syllable of the lyrics. “Touch” is currently available, so head over to iTunes if you would like a copy for yourself.

Light Bodies – Gravity [TMN PREMIERE]

You hear that? It’s the faintest of rumblings coming over the horizon. It brings with it unadulterated freedom and a worry-free vibe that will wash over you in just a few hours. By now you should have guessed it –it’s the weekend and its charge is being led by a phenomenal collection of tunes from the newly-founded Bribery Corporation. If you’re not familiar just yet, don’t worry. This record label/fashion house is set to make a huge splash, as today’s release will indicate.

Dropping as a free download in partnership with BitTorrent, “Gravity” is one of twelve tunes that highlight the tastes of this Miami-based project. Written, produced, and sung by Light Bodies, who has somehow flown under our radar, it was a personal favorite amongst the mix. If this track is any indicator of what’s to come, we can easily assume that it won’t be long before more people start to catch on.

“Gravity” is a sultry stunner, heavily driven by smooth a thumping, seductive bassline, minimalistic beeps, brooding piano chords, and some otherworldy vocals. It’s alluring, but not overwhelming or overdone–a perfect balance of soul-driven lyrics and gorgeous production sure to incite some goosebumps throughout the ride.

If you’re digging “Gravity,” make sure to grab the full bundle on BitTorrent.

[It’s Almost Summer] NoMBe – Freak Like Me

For this moment–this one right here–I’m going to pretend that global warming isn’t happening at an alarming pace, instead, choosing to soak in the sunny rays of Denver’s unprecedented 80 degree weather. My soundtrack for this near-summer day? NoMBe’s “Freak Like Me.”

I can see it all now: pool parties, BBQs, rowdy rides to festivals, and epic nights out on the city. Those warm-weather visions are currently being brought to life with this catchy-as-hell arrangement of playful, funky guitar work, emphatic kick drums and spiraling toms, and cooler-than-the-other-side-of-the-pillow vocals.

If you’re not hip to this Angelino just yet, now’s the time to get acquainted. He has a healthy stable of tunes ready for you to dive into, so get to it already!

[Future Bass] MSTR ROGERS – Sooner Or Later

“Sooner Or Later” from the LA producer MSTR ROGERS has come to the fold thanks to Ultra Records. Coming off a #1 Spotify chart topper, MSTR ROGERS collaboration with the Aussie Inka Wood has the same potential of success. Out now on digital services, “Sooner Or Later” is a song you’ll be buying sooner rather than later.

Soft, smooth and delectable are some terms that come to mind while listening to this jam. Ultra Records is often known for it’s electrifying house records, but that doesn’t mean they don’t back amazing future tunes like this one. MSTR ROGERS is among a ton of talented artists on the roster, but he’s looking to establish himself as one of the top, go-to producers on the label. If he keeps putting out tunes like “Sooner Or Later” then he surely will succeed in that.

I just want people to feel good, and have fun in the process. Hopefully help them get a little lost for 3 or so minutes and escape the everyday! Whenever I create, I’m searching for that ‘moment’ for the audience.

Get To Know The Mad Beat Scientist Jack Squire [TMN Interview]

Often times when producers preach that they’re doing something special, they aren’t really. Jack Squire is someone who is in the lab cooking up some hot concoctions that are sure to change the game. There are already several producers fusing classical music with dance, but Jack is one of the notable ones you’ll need on your radar.

Recently, Jack came out with his fiery electro tune “Creatures” that showcases just the style he is going for, however that doesn’t mean he can’t take his style into new sonic territories. With “Creatures” we get a single that moves from an old-school dance sound to a cinematic break that finally leads us into some energetic bass. It has come just in time for festival season, so if you want your set or playlist to stick out, you’re going to want this in there. We brought Jack Squire into the dojo to answer a few questions so that all of us could get a glimpse into the mind of such an intriguing producer.

TMN: Where did the name Jack Squire come from?

JS: It’s actually my name! Squire is my middle name.

TMN: What was the inspiration behind “Creatures”; and how do you tap in creatively to the bass sound that fits you?

JS: I wanted to do something that felt very cinematic, and I’ve always loved the sound of string ensembles. They're so full of emotion. For the drop, I wound up using a lot of random sound effects for little fills. Gunshots, a woman shrieking, chainsaws, even the famous Wilhelm scream. It all makes it sound like the song is playing during a monster movie montage. Hence the name “Creatures”.

TMN: Who do you look to artist-wise if you are lacking inspiration in the moment?

JS: Joyryde and Blackgummy. Joyryde’s music is on a whole other level. I absolutely love it. Blackgummy and I actually have a studio together, and he is always doing some wild stuff. I don’t think anyone uses effects (whooshs, sweeps, little noises, subtle changeups, etc) as well as he does in his tracks. There’s lots of producers out there doing really interesting things across all genres, it really depends on my mood and what I’m doing. I think Pixel Terror’s remix of ARMNHMR’s song ‘Wings’ is one of the most interesting bass heavy tracks I’ve heard.

TMN: What do you wish you knew 2 years ago as a musician that you hope other young producers will learn now?

There’s no right or wrong way to make music. Use loops, use presets, make every sound from scratch, record the sound of stuff around your house, do whatever the hell you want. At the end of the day, if it sounds good, it sounds good.

TMN: What is your dream show?

JS: Honestly, in my experience, as long as the dance floor is packed and everyone is feeling what I’m playing, it doesn’t matter if its 50 people, 500, or more. It always feels amazing. But I definitely dream of doing some incredible stuff live eventually. I would love to bring out live instrumentalists and vocalists to big shows in the future, and do some live performance shows with incredible visuals. That’s still quite a ways off for me, though!

TMN: What is the Jack Squire plan for 2017?

JS: Lots and lots of new music! I’ve got tons of solo stuff I’m going to release this year, and have a few collabs in the works as well. You can definitely expect at least one new song every month from me.

DAUNT – Unbearable Light [TMN PREMIERE]

“Unbearable Light” gave me such a blissful, encompassing experience. In only a matter of seconds, the deep, brooding synths, simplistic percussion pattern, and light, spattering of piano keys had me well inside my own psyche, enjoying the depths I was receding into. And that was all before I dug into the lyrics and vocal cadence.

Drawing on comparisons of Bob Moses and Ben Gibbard (Death Cab for Cutie/Postal Service)–whom I consider the one of the best songwriters of our time–this up-and-coming Londoner has my attention piqued. His previous releases elude to the fact that the quality is steadfast, far from a one-hit flash-in-the-pan. Each provide a gorgeous simplicity, tapping us on the shoulder to relish the beauty of a well-crafted song.

With a bevy of influences from hip-shaking hip-hop beats, timeless, soulful rhythms and iconic disco bass lines, as well as the genre-bending artists like Beck and Glass Animals, it’s safe to say we’ll continue to see Daunt pushing the boundaries.

If you find yourself in London on April 26th, make sure to head out and catch the his EP launch show at The Waiting Room.

[Hip-Hop] Gramatik feat. Kennedy Jones – Satoshi Nakamoto (Original Mix)

You may know Kennedy Jones as the party-popping producer/DJ whose slick beats have lead him to travel the world. But, that’s not the only musical talent he has to offer. He’s got heat he ain’t afraid to spit. Just take the single “Satoshi Nakamoto” as an example. Not only do we get some insane lyrics from Kennedy, but it’s atop a beat provided by the one and only Gramatik.

We love that this song starts with the emcee stating “Kennedy Jones don’t rap.” It just starts things off with the perfect tone. He’s not being cocky, just confident in his somewhat unknown ability. From there the beat kicks in and Kennedy delivers a short monologue before letting loose. He raps as a veteran, with a cool, collected tone and lyrics that go deeper than you would imagine. This is real hip-hop. We’d love to hear more of this from Kennedy, whose easily one of the most talented creators and real human beings in dance music. Leave it to him to surprise you with something so good.

[Electronic] k?d – Lose Myself feat. Phil Good

Undeniably one of the most sought after up and coming producers around is k?d. He has exploded on the scene with originals and remixes that have floored listeners world-wide. Within the last day, k?d’s new single “Lose Myself” featuring Phil Good has already made its way well around the internet and has shown a slightly different side to the mysterious producer.

“Lose Myself” still has that midtempo electro sound that previous songs have had, but this time things are lightened up a bit. It’s a cool take on the future style; one that k?d made his own without trying to be something he is not. What he is is a talented producer whose creative limits we are just beginning to start to understand. Adding Phil Good on this record was a great choice as the two worked together harmoniously without any clash. “Lose Myself” has been released by PRMD Music.

[Electronic] Sarajevski – Softlights feat. Erika

Need something soothing to ease your way into the weekend? “Softlights” will do just that for you. The single comes to us from the duo of brothers Sarajevski. Featuring Erika, this airy chiller is will whisk you away into the clouds, eliminating all the aches and pains from the week along the way.

“Softlights” starts subtly and comes into focus with Erika’s vocal which takes center stage for much of the song. For a good while it feels like a calming indie record, but things eventually move into the house realm once the kick drum comes into play. From there the energy starts to pick up but the vibe of the track still remains the same, a cool relaxing mood that no ill can penetrate. The brothers play with a variety of emotions in this one, even ones that can seem contradictory to each other. It’s a simple composition inspired by complex emotions.

[Electronic] Moonlight Matters – Hallucinations feat. Black Atlass

Sony Music’s Moonlight Matters has a saucy new single that your ears need to hear. “Hallucinations” is the track and it features Alex Fleming, aka Black Atlass. Together these acts have come up with something so silky smooth, it stands as the new archetype of the given adjective.

“Hallucinations” has that spacey, cosmic vibe that can often be associated with hallucinations. The groovy electronic composition is intimate and strong, reaching deep into the listener touching core emotions that not every song can reach. A strong vocal performance always helps a track and this single has that tenfold. You’ll be singing along in no time. “Hallucinations” is the first track of the year from MM, but it surely won’t be the last. Plenty more good music is on the way.

The newly formed Bassrush Records is off to an extremely great start. After around four months of releases, we have reached the release of two singles from the Los Angeles act Pierce. Available as a free download, these two singles will surely be at the top of your bass playlists in no time.

It’s gritty attitude and booming basses will leave you floored from headbanging or dancing too hard. Then comes “Set It Off” whose tone is much lighter than the A-track. However, just because the mood is lighter doesn’t mean the bass is as this midtempo tune is as heavy as the first. Moombahcore lovers will be grooving hard to this one and it’s throwback sound. Stream them both now and don’t forget to download them. Keep your dollars, these are on the house thanks to Bassrush.

[Electronic] WRLD x smle – Stranded (feat. Kiddo Al)

In honor of their new tour together, WRLD and smle have put out a single alongside Kiddo AI through Heroic Recordings. “Stranded” is what the song and tour have been named. Both are not things to miss out on, so whether you’re looking to download the track for free or purchase tour tickets, both can be done while you stream the tune in the dojo.

We would be very surprised if you went to a show on the tour and didn’t hear the song the tour was named after. Regardless of their shared name, a song this could should not be skipped by either of the acts on tour. It’s good enough that if both played it, fans wouldn’t care. “Stranded” has that poppy, euphoric future sound categorized by a catchy vocal and riveting synth work. Each act’s styles fit well together and Kidd AI’s vocal performance takes this song to special heights. Like we said before, it’s available for free and make sure to check out the tour dates for stops in your area.

[House] Jace Mek – Jar (feat. Brukout)

Would you take a free “Jar” if it was offered to you? What if it came straight from the studio of the one and only Jace Mek? Chances are, you’ll take it. Released on Uprise Music, “Jar” is a free download from one of dance music’s most creative young talents.

Jace Mek isn’t slowing down, in fact, he’s turning things up. Time and time again he brings us off the wall records whose experimental nature are still highly accessible. He’s got his own dark style, which is embodied by this single. Featuring Brukout, “Jar” isn’t just the work of the Los Angeles producer but also of one of Jamaica’s finest. Together they work in conjunction to make “Jar” one of 2017’s weirdest, but coolest tracks. Like we said before, you can get this one as a free download.

Buku – Front to Back (Stylust Beats Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Buku’s “Front to Back” has already received a remix treatment from Bassnectar, but today we present to you another take on the Spinnin single. Stylust Beats has come through the dojo to give you a first listen to his own flip in this Music Ninja Premiere.

If you happen to be a fan of driving basslines, then this newly formatted “Front to Back” is going to please your ears. Stylust Beats gets things going with a quickness and doesn’t pull back the energy much until the end. Things do dip for a short period so you you can catch your breath and get yourself ready to continue to dance your pants off or headbang, whichever you prefer. With Spring so close and festivals on their way, remarkable remixes of big tracks will be steadily coming out. This is definitely in that batch and we’re pleased to deliver it to you here first!

[Future Electronic] Blu J feat. Matthew Chaim – Safe

Happy Spring Break, ninjas! This month we get to let loose, whether that means on the dance floor or in the comfort of our home. Over at TMN, we like to pair our time off with music we can do exactly just that to. Lucky for us–and you–we came across the perfect track for this.

Blu J’s brand new release featuring vocalist Matthew Chaim, “Safe” has “springtime” written all over it. The new single combines best of both worlds, comprising both chill, laid back vibes that open to a chorus designed with a sexy, party-starting beat. Simultaneously, Matthew Chaim sets the mood as his edgy voice complements the rhythm of “Safe,” while Blu J execute their superb production skills using Matthew’s voice for some tasteful vocal chops. The title is a mirror reflection of the song itself; it’s undeniably a safe bet of a pick for your Spring Break soundtrack.

[Trap] JayKode – Roll Out

JayKode is on fire, plain and simple. The same can be said for Buygore Records who recently released the LA producer’s single “Roll Out.” This genre-bending original is our favorite JayKode single yet, which is saying a lot given his impressive catalog.

“Roll Out” has everything I love in a record: bass, piano and dembow. This twerk-centric heater is just what the dance community needs as festival season approaches. JayKode’s sound design ability sticks out to us in this one, but the great thing is he doesn’t rely solely on that to make a good song. His songwriting skills are top notch, which shouldn’t come as a surprise from a creator who fuses bass music with, of all things, classical music. “Roll Out” is currently out now, so get your copy from the digital service of your choice.

[Electronic] Savant – SURPRISE

We are more than pleased to tell you that Savant has returned. After a two year hiatus one of dance music’s most talented producers is back. It was a surprise to many, which is why the Norwegian has called his single “SURPRISE.” As straightforward as that is, the actual song is not.

“SURPRISE” can’t be pinned down to one genre; not because it blends styles together, but because it travels from one to the next to the next. At first we get what seems to be a jolly, upbeat house record, similar to something you may find from artists on Ultra and Spinnin, but things change and they change in a big way. With the second drop we dive straight into some cosmic dubstep that is completely unexpected (sorry for the spoiler). As if that wasn’t enough, Savant hits us with some fresh electro basslines that will get you grooving. After that, things come full circle and the track is complete. Get ready for this wild ride and make sure to grab a copy of the song off iTunes.

[Electronic] Bring Me The Horizon – Drown (EMBRZ Remix)

Big things are just around the corner for the Irish songster EMBRZ. In the Spring once the weather has warmed up, EMBRZ will release his debut EP. In the meantime, we get to enjoy another smooth remix. “Drown” by Bring Me The Horizon is what got flipped this time around.

EMBRZ is one of those standout producers whose style, although familiar, is certainly distinguishable as unique. “Drown” went from being a hardened indie rock record to a heavenly electronic tune. What makes this an exceptionally interesting remix is that EMBRZ sampled multiple versions of the original, bringing in the best parts of each and adding in his own flair. When an artist picks out a song, usually they go with the flow and feel of the original, but it’s nice to see such a talented musician do a complete 180 and still manage to deliver something spectacular that is totally unexpected.

[Electronic] NOTNO – Live

New York City’s rising electronic act, NOTNO, has been cultivating some stellar sound design in recent months. I first caught wind of the duo when their uplifting tune “Take It Back” dropped around three months ago. Since then the energetic yet ambient style these two have mastered has been making multiple appearances in my kick back playlists.

Their most recent release, “Live,” builds on this juxtaposition between upbeat and downtempo approaches. The track opens by establishing a huge, spacey atmosphere that soon strongly driven by groovy basslines, high flying synths, and progressive percussion. To top it all off, echoing vocals accent the track’s otherworldly energy with a vocal hook that promises to stick in your head. Check out the tune here, and if you’re into it, give their other recent release, “Gold,” a listen.

[Music Video] WDL – Cashmere

Music videos with a truly cinematic nature always stand out. WDL’s “Cashmere” video is just that. With great cinematography and a heart-wrenching tale, this music video will surely play with your emotions to a high degree, especially if you have been cheated on in the past.

Before we dive right into the music video, let’s start with the song. “Cashmere” is a soft, but passionate cry. It expresses complex emotions that play out in visual form through the video. This is anything but a straightforward video. From beginning to end you’ll be at the edge of your seat and things only get better as time passes. The imagery is profound and the symbolism through those images is equally powerful. You’re going to want to watch this one a few times to pick up every little detail, but you won’t have any problem in doing so.

[Future Bass] MEDZ feat. Kings – Unforgettable

“Unforgettable” is the new single from MEDZ released on Be Rich Records. The Auckland duo didn’t go at creating this song alone as they enlisted the help of their fellow New Zealand brother Kings. Although the song follows the future bass format, MEDZ and Kings were able to deliver something with a bit more unique than we are used to.

Together these two acts were able to create a song that at first feels like what we’re used to, but after a few moments you appreciate the subtle, yet powerful differences. “Unforgettable” is just that, it’s going to be cemented in your brain, playing over and over again. The minimal composition leads to this one’s catchy factor being exceptional and given the cool sound design it gives it that extra bump it needs to be a next level future tune. [Pop] Clairmont – Can’t Help Myself (feat. Mugisho & Julie Bergan)

Seriously though, what’s up with Norway? Specifically I’m referring to the artists over at Warner Music. If they took over the US radio stations, we wouldn’t be mad at all. Nothing but gold is coming out of their camp and most recently we got a mega collaboration from some of their key artists.

“Can’t Help Myself” is the song and Clairmont, Mugisho and Julie Bergan are the artists. Together they put together what will certainly be one of our favorite singles of the year. It’s future pop sound is phenomenal. It has the perfect blend from each style, however it focuses on two unforgettable vocal performances. To say “Can’t Help Myself” is catchy would be an understatement. All three artists involved brought their A game and it shows big time. Get your copy through the digital service you prefer today. [Electronic] Pham & sober rob – Alibi (feat. Madi)

Deadbeats Records sees Zeds Dead at the helm of an imprint. You can be sure to get top quality records, such as “Alibi” from Pham, sober rob and vocalist Madi that was released through the label today. This dark, bass-booming single is just the slow jam we need to offset the onslaught of Summer party tunes that are starting to be unleashed from nearly every one else.

“Alibi” is more than simply the sum of its creators. The young Madi, who has been on a string of top notch releases including most recently a Dabin collab, soars with one of her best performances yet. Pham and sober rob laid quite the backdrop with an instrumental whose blend of emotions will have your feels all in a twist. No matter which emotion peaks about above the rest, one thing you will know for sure is that you’re digging this amazing track just as we are. “Alibi” is available today through iTunes, so if you want a copy, hop on it.

The trio Chex is entering the dojo to unveil their new single “Purple Craze” that features vocalist Lily Grieve. In this Music Ninja Premiere we get the group’s second single, a soulful electronic record whose pop tendencies could serve as the pivotal piece in launching these creators to stardom.

“Purple Craze” is a dashing single. Vibrant, yet soft, this creation is a medicinal dose of cool. It’s got the right chill vibe, but it’s also got dance-able rhythms and grooves giving it the energy it needs to be a record fans ache for live. Chex aim to give their tracks a live feel, so we can only imagine what they have cooking for their shows. “Purple Craze” will certainly be one of their go-to songs and we’re happy we have the chance to give you a first listen to it right here. [Electronic] ZEKE BEATS – Dispatch EP

ZEKE BEATS has always had some interesting music to share. Recently, the Australian came out with the four track EP entitled Dispatch. With other worldly sounds, ZEKE BEATS was able to put together one of the coolest projects this year. That’s no joke, in fact we’re going to link you to the digital services right now, where you can add these stunning tunes to your digital library. You’ll want it.

Dispatch is a journey to new fronts for bass music. There’s always been a huge spectrum of just how experimental or not bass music can be. This EP has the perfect blend of each side; some non-conventional sounds mixed in with a whole lot of accessibility. For whatever reason, there is a lot of groundbreaking music coming out of Australia and ZEKE BEATS is and has been a pillar in that community. Space age bass meets new wave trap throughout this EP, with each song breaking off a different slice of sounds. If we were to go out on a leap, we’d say “Payload” is the favorite, but even we’re not sure. Check out the EP and try and pick yours!

[Hip-Hop] Isaac Lee – Money

“Money” is money. Isaac Lee‘s phenomenal single is a classically influenced smash hit that the radio waves need to hop on quick. It’s got just the right amount of stylistic influence from the electronic, hip-hop and R&B worlds with other subtler flavors thrown in the mix.

Isaac Lee is a dynamic creator that is establishing himself as a strong force in the music industry. After releasing his first single “U MAKE ME” we get “Money.” With these two tracks we see just the tip of the iceberg of an artist with a certain mystique around him. His darky and eary tone translates superbly well over into sound. “Money” is only the second example of his work, but it stands as a testament to what true artists can put together. “Money” is well worth your money, so head over to iTunes to get a copy.

[Chill] Axel Mansoor – Wasted My Love

Miami Music Week is rapidly approaching, and for those who’ve attended before, well, you already know what to expect. Those who’ve yet to experience this massive music event–let’s just say it’d be in your best interest to save up as much energy as possible beforehand. With that said, we were much more than lucky when we stumbled upon music underdog Axel Mansoor’s newest production, which puts us into quite a state of relaxation.

This past week, the LA-based singer/songwriter/instrumentalist graced us with “Wasted My Love,” a beautifully crafted piece that exposes the 24-year-old’s mesmerizing sound. Axel’s passion shines through his new single through velvety vocals that give way to heartfelt lyrics. His voice melts into the melody of “Wasted My Love,” led by soothing guitar strums and a downtempo rhythm. Take a minute to give this track a listen–you won’t regret it.

[Electronic] Dabin – Lilith feat. APASHE & Madi

What do you get when you mix Dabin, APASHE, and Madi into one beautifully written track? A melodic and mind bending sensory overload capable of tearing us in three different, but very welcome, directions. Released as the second single off of Kannibalen Records artist Dabin’s album, Two Hearts, the triad of sounds that is “Lilith” melds together the sweet vocals of Madi, Dabin’s delectable instrumental melodies and the well-known hard hitting bass of APASHE. While the track starts out smooth we’re soon catapulted into a heavy drop of synthy bass giving “Lilith” a pleasant and unexpected twist. [Electronic] Afrojack – Used to Have it All (Dirty Audio Remix)

We may have already featured this in our new Spotify playlist, Back that Bass Up, but Dirty Audio’s sock game isn’t the only thing that strong. His recent releases have been straight fire and his official remix to Afrojack’s “Used To Have It All” is no exception. This groovy house vibe gets a signature make-over from the LA producer known for indulging in lots of coffee, stabbing synths, and hard drops. The elegant vocals are still present, but this flip gives the track a whole new club and festival ready vibe that we’re sure to see all summer. You can buy and stream this latest release here.

Cayman Cline – That Man [TMN Video Premiere]

Cayman Cline is a name that will quickly rise to the top of your hip-hop radar. He’s paving his own way with his own sound, as dark as it is, tapping into purely raw emotions that fans worldwide will be able to connect to. Although dreary, Cayman’s introspective tone is inspirational at heart. Just take the song and video for “That Man” by the half Native American, half Mexican rapper as evidence. Get your first look and listen here in the dojo with this Music Ninja Premiere.

You would think after watching a grim video where we basically only see one person at night in tune with a downtempo song whose lyrics don’t exactly incite the best of emotions, you’d feel isolated. The strange thing is Cayman is able to provide comfort in those feelings through his rhymes and potent attitude. He conveys, not only in song but video form, a distinct type of loneliness that is highly relatable. The video feels very intimate, like you’re getting to see into a world of another person, which is exactly what Cayman does with his project. He pulls you out from your seat and plants you somewhere else, a new place, a new state of mind. Watch the video below and make sure to keep your eyes and ears peeled for more from Cayman Cline.

Get A Behind The Scenes Look Into What Makes No Way Back [TMN Interview]

After the release of “Minute” on Enhanced Music, we wanted to get together with its creator, No Way Back, to see just what makes the Los Angeles producer tick. We’re loving the soothing vibes of his work and had to get a behind the scenes look at where he has come from.

No Way Back is one producer you need to know if you don’t already. Anthony Pisano is doing things right bringing great music to the table with a signature style that will identify him for years to come if he keeps up with it. AFter only being on the scene for around a year, he’s managed to make a lot of headway, so we wanted to give you a look behind the project with the current interview. While you read through our concise Q&A, listen to his the collaboration with Sophia Black on “Minute.”

TMN: We love your mix of 90’s influenced R&B and house! How did your sound come about?

NWB: I grew up listening to R&B, soul, and hip-hop in the 90’s. When I first discovered Daft Punk it all came together for me. I realized that blending feel good R&B/soul elements with dance music was my sound.

TMN: What are some R&B acts that have influenced your sound?

NWB: The Weeknd, TLC, Aaliyah, Cashmere Cat, Kaytranada, and Miguel are a few that influence my sound.

TMN: When you’re not producing or touring, what are you up to?

I like to work out, go on hikes and do yoga when I’m not in the studio. I’m definitely a foodie so I love trying out different restaurants. I live in Los Angeles so there’s always so many good spots to try out.

TMN: Any new releases coming up you’d like to tell us about?

NWB: I just released my new single called “Minute” featuring Sophia Black a few weeks ago. I have a lot of music finished and ready to go so it’s about figuring out the next release date. If I had to guess I would say probably April or May. The plan is to put out another single followed by an EP so I’m currently working on that right now.

TMN: Any acts you’re excited to check out during Miami Music Week?

NWB: MMW is always an inspiring week for me. I always go back to the studio after that week with so many new ideas. I’m definitely excited to see Magician. I haven’t seen many line ups yet but I get inspiration from so many different genres and artists right now I’m just excited for the whole week.

[Future Bass] Kill Paris – Good Love

Kill Paris takes a bit of a different direction with his new single “Good Love.” Released on Sexy Electric, this free download still has a hint of the future sound, but blends the line between it and trap. It’s an interesting route that we didn’t expect when we heard the producer was coming out with a new one.

“Good Love” won’t disappoint. Despite the sound not being what we may be used to, Kill Paris still managed to put together a great song. Good vibes ooze from this soft-hearted single whose minimal sound makes for an easy listen. It’s a versatile track that can be enjoyed in several circumstances, so don’t be surprised when you come back to it over and over. Kill Paris is looking to have a big year in 2017 and he’s off to a good start.

[Music Video] Avery Shyra – Say Hello

Denver emcee Avery Shyra just came out with a new single called “Say Hello” that is partnered by a music video. Instead of filming in the vast landscape around his hometown, he flew out to LA to capture the bright sunshine on the beautiful coastline.

“Say Hello” is a radio-friendly hip-hop jam that fits right in line with one of the few directions that rap is going. Despite that, Avery keeps things fresh with his own spin on things. For the music video, it’s incredibly well done on the beaches of Southern California, showcasing the life behind the lyrics. It’s quite minimal, but you don’t need much if you know how to put together a great video, which is just what we have on our hands. Check the music video out below while you ache for the coming Summer months!

“Candy” in its new form is a twerk-friendly bass track that is sure to get the party started, or if the party is already going, then it’s going next level when this drops. [Electronic] BLVK SHEEP – Run feat. Tima Dee & Giant Spirit

So far 2017 has shown us that a producer’s main goal is to toy with our emotions. We’ve seen vocalists incorporate lyrics that give us something to relate to and the melodies that accompany these lyrics are capable of inducing the same emotions regardless if the lyrics are there or not. BLVK SHEEP’s last release from his Mind EP, “Run” incorporates a vibrant and raw combination of vocals from Tima Dee and a surprising and very welcome riff of guitar chords from Giant Spirit, combining multiple sounds that leave us wanting more from this budding producer. The energy throughout this hybrid trap track is potent throughout, yet still leaves room for the emotionally laden lyrics from Tima. [Electronic] Anevo – Waiting On Your Call feat. Park Avenue

We’re giving Anevo’s latest release, “Waiting On Your Call,” on Monstercat a 10/10. Anevo’s melody paired with Park Avenue’s emotional vocals have created a whirlwind of feelings poised to make it to top radio charts. The track masterfully brings the listener into a trance of past memories and romantic relationships but Anevo does a great job of excluding a depressing vibe and keeping the track light even though the lyrics are ridden with emotional pain.

[Electronic] Melvv – Lifeline (feat. Dana Williams)

2017 is going to be an unforgettable year for Melvv. He kicked off the year with a #1 Hypem single and he’s already back with another song. “Lifeline” is his collaboartion with vocalist Dana Williams that has been released today through Yebo Music.

Melvv is known for his indie future sound. “Lifeline” isn’t missing that signature and together with Dana he has another hit on his hands. “Lifeline” is a bubbly, chilled out midtempo production that has quite a lot of character. Sometimes indie/future producers lack in giving their singles that undefinable spark that gives the song life, but Melvv is able to do that time and time again. His songwriting on this single shows he keeps progressing, while Dana Williams gives a performance that will rip your heart out in the best way possible.

[Music Video] Xia Xia Technique – Wake & Bass

Prepare yourself for one of the most intriguing songs and music videos you are going to find. Xia Xia Technique of Los Angeles recently put out their single “Wake & Bass” alongside a music video that is nothing like anything we’ve laid our eyes on before. Unique, fun and totally wacky, this video is well worth the watch.

We’ll start first by saying that “Wake & Bass” itself is a great record. The experimental nature of this hip-hop single is one that many should take note of. In a landscape where most are going for a particular sound, XXT is looking to pave their own way in a similar manner to Die Antwoord, who we expect this trio to be influenced by. With the video, things are quite simple. There’s a lengthy haircut and buzz taking place in a hotel room involved, and then a short greeting with aliens. Who would have thought watching a girl go bald could be so entertaining? And where do the aliens come from? We don’t have the answers, but we have the video. See for yourself!

Two of our friends, Two Friends, have finally released their EP after leaving fans in anticipation. Out Of Love was released by SOURCE/Spinnin Records complete with three singles, including collaboration with MAX and Cosmos & Creature.

The duo started with out with the release of one single, then another and the last coming out with the full EP launch a few days ago. This means you might already be privy to the great songs “Pacific Coast Highway” and the title track, both of which have already gotten plenty of love, with more to come. They differ in style, but not in quality. The third song “Mona Lisa Eyes” is more along the lines of “Pacific Coast Highway,” sharing a house sound that is both upbeat and fun. The full EP is well worth the time and price if you’re looking to get a copy for yourself from a digital service.

[R&B] Ronin & Xavier White – Sudden Change

Ronin and Xavier White return for yet another single together. Their track “Sudden Change” was released today through Lush Records, one of New York’s greatest independent labels. Speaking of New York, the two artists who put this one together happen to both be some of New York’s top underground talents.

“Sudden Change” is a sexy tune. We know just how good these two creators are together, but they took things to a whole new place with this one. It’s got that future pop meets R&B sound that not many can pin down like these two have done. With so much music sounding like people are trying too hard for something, it’s nice to hear a genuinely good record that feels that it came about organically. They weren’t trying to be anybody but themselves, which is something we can always count on from each contributor. Stream “Sudden Change” today and grab the free download.

[Music Video] Taylor Grey – Never Woulda Letcha

Stanford University’s Taylor Grey is looking to take over pop music. As if finishing school at one of the country’s most prestigious schools wasn’t hard enough, she’s aiming high in an industry that’s anything but easy. The thing is, she’s on track to accomplish both her girls.

Recently she came out with her music video for the single “Never Woulda Letcha” that is directed by the award winning Sarah Mclogan. Before we get to the video, we’ll touch base on the song whose pop/electronic hybrid style has unlimited potential in today’s music landscape. The laidback, melodic sound is just what fans are looking to hear in sets, as well as on the radio. With the video, we see Taylor star across Sean O’Donnell of Unbroken. We get to see into the life behind the lyrics, a relationship between two people that is up in the air. It’s an emotional song with a simply striking video. Check it out today and head over to iTunes for a copy of the single.

[Electronic] RYNO – Wishing Seed (Dulsae Remix)

It’s always good to see up and coming artists get official remixes. This was the case for Dulsae who was tapped by New York’s RYNO to remix the single “Wishing Seed.” Although Ryno may be a new name to many, as a Battle of The Bands champion, he is a respected talent in the industry. Not a bad person to get to be supported by!

Dulsae’s sound is something straight from the stars. An overwhelming cosmic characteristic emanates from this remix. If you’re looking to escape the week early, then you have what you need with this remix. The chilling mood of the newly defined “Wishing Seed” is undeniable. It whisks you away to another place with its soft soundscapes and mystical melodies. The fellow New Yorker Dulsae did not disappoint his creative brother with his interpretation and he didn’t disappoint us either.
