[Music Video] FRND – Be Happy

What we’re used to from FRND is the release of a great single. With his fourth original release however, it’s not just a great song we’re getting, but a sweet animated music video to go along with it. The project is “Be Happy” and that’s just how we’re feeling for this one.

Now, “Be Happy” isn’t as straightforward as you may think. The lyrics don’t paint a simple scenario, rather one that has multiple layers underneath the general claim (and name) of the song. It represents a matured moment in life, one that isn’t so easy to come to with regard to relationships – or as the song describes, past relationships. Yet again FRND sways us with a magical track and the video takes all the emotions to the next level. It’s a smash hit and it’s something your library needs. Add it through iTunes today.

[Music Video] Point Point – Hands feat. Denai Moore

Point Point recently hit the web with a music video for their single “Hands” featuring Denai Moore. Released through Ultra Records, this intense music video is not really what we expected for such a poppy hybrid single, but it fits amazingly well.

“Hands” in its video form follows a soldier in the military. Not only that, but we get glimpses of him with his significant other in the past, a time he is reminiscing on while he’s enlisted. The scenario is lived out every day by millions of military members all across the world. It’s touching, true and incredibly well done. Point Point really put together something superb with this music video, lead by Kristof Brandl. If you love the song like us, get a copy from digital stores.

[Moombahton] Henry Fong – Young Hearts feat. Nyla & Stylo G

Fans of Henry Fong knows his love for reggae and dancehall. For those unfamiliar, all you need to do is take one listen to his new Dim Mak single “Young Hearts” to catch a glimpse. Together with Nyla and Stylo G, Henry put together a smashing moombah-esque single that has Summer written all over it.

“Young Hearts” is comprised of mostly recorded instruments, giving it an organic feel that most electronic tracks can’t touch even with the best technical production. Henry wanted fans to vibe to it and that’s just what’s going to happen when this absolute gem gets played. It’s got a pop feel to it, however his influences from reggae to moombah are highly evident and give the track some sexy groove. Get your copy of “Young Hearts” through the digital service of your choosing.

Sean took on “Be Like You” and took his signature sound into a bit of a different direction. This time we get a more electro-infused single, one whose energy is a bit more upbeat than his usual cuts. [Dubstep] Point.Blank – THE MONEY EP

Point.Blank and Buygore are the perfect match. They recently paired up for the release of the Belgian’s EP, THE MONEY, that features five solo originals packed with as much bass as you can handle. Fans previously got a taste of the EP with the first single “DRUG DEALS” that was released prior, but now the whole gang is here.

As you may guess from the all caps project, the music is just as in your face and loud. I mean, it is dubstep and that’s just how it should be. Point.Blank gives us an EP with top quality sound design and a whole lot of swagger, showing off to others just how dope dubstep can be. He brings his own style, one that matches intensity with groove. Get your neck ready, these are all headbanger approved. [Electronic] HXV – Separation EP

Atlanta’s HXV is making some big moves. With his EP, Separation, HXV sets the stage for the rest of his career. It’s a defining moment, one that is being marked with not just a simple single, but three packed into a meaningful project that takes things in a new direction. Each song has been released as a free download, in exchange for a Spotify follow which is nothing compared to what you get in return.

This EP marks the first steps in a longer story I’m trying to tell. My goal is to define what HXV is and sounds like once and for all. I went back and pulled from my inspirations and been writing music that’s electronic in nature and rooted in trap elements but has textures of shoegaze, metal, and dark wave. This EP is about leaving what’s familiar and pushing off into the unknown, embracing the fear and the discomfort of trying new things.”
– HXV

The EP starts out with “Where Do We Go From Here,” a dark, mystifying record that embodies the exact emotions HXV had before making the changes that he did. Next comes “Into Oblivion,” a sonic black hole that you can’t escape, but luckily, you don’t want to. It’s a one of a kind song that may be our favorite on the EP, however “Crossing The Threshold” rivals it. The last single takes things a different direction, showcasing a more calm sound that closes the Separation out perfectly.

Those moments, those steps that you take into the unknown where you are finding yourself and where you fit into the world that’s the art. The music is the artifact, the ashes of the art itself. The art is the process. When all this is done and all the elements are out this will become the definitive guide for HXV.

[Electronic] Ken Loi – Hollow (feat. Liv Miraldi)

Arkade Records had a hot one come out this month from Oakland California’s Ken Loi. His single “Hollow” features the lovely Liv Miraldi whose performance will hook you in tight. Together these two made a future-filled jam that we can’t get out of our heads.

Ken Loi’s masterful blending of genres makes this song what it is. By himself it would be great track, but with the addition of Liv Miraldi this song goes from great to stupendous. It feels familiar, yet the style is fresh to the ears. Arkade has always put out great records, but this one is one of our favorites from both their camp and Ken’s. If you’d like a copy of “Hollow” you can swoop it from iTunes today.

Tommy Trash & A-Trak – Lover feat. Jesse Boykins III (Hood Rich Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Welcome to the dojo for another first listen with a premiere from Hood Rich. From our friends at Fool’s Gold Records comes an official remix by the Queensland producer of “Lover” originally by Tommy Trash and A-Trak with Jesse Boykins III. Although the track is due out on the Group Chat Remixes EP, we’ve come together to give you an early listen to this bumpin’ cut a day early.

Hood Rich gets deep and dirty with this fresh take on “Lover.” House and tech heads are in for a real treat with this one as it’s smooth grooves are just what clubs and festivals are desiring. The original single was a bit more upbeat, with an electro edge to it that Hood Rich trades for a darker tone. Overall it makes for a solid remix with a sound completely different than the original. Hood rich made it his own while doing justice to the original tenfold.

Mat Hunsley – Do You Need Me Near [TMN PREMIERE]

Mat Hunsley’s “Do You Need Me” coincidentally came into my peripherals along with the changing seasons here in Denver and it already has me daydreaming about lazy summer nights, swinging in a hammock, heartfelt campfire conversations with only the closest of friends, and those unexpected weekend adventures in a pup-filled car, heading somewhere into the wilderness.

This emotive song is the first of the year for this Newcastle-based singer/songwriter, following up on a handful of stellar releases at the end of last year. Just like before, I’m finding myself in a lucid daze, complete with a content grin, digesting his thoughtful lyrics and calculated fingerpicking. With the addition of carefully-placed, fairy-like vocal hums, today’s offering is somehow even more alluring and encapsulating than expected.

This song is testament to my oldest and dearest friends. Like everyone else, I have had those friends whom I believed were essential to my happiness. I mistakenly thought that without their constant presence and participation in my life that I couldn’t possibly be as happy as I once was. Despite my worries and despite each of us having followed our differing paths, these friends have remained close to my heart. When reunited we slip effortlessly back into the old habits and patterns as if we’d never strayed away. These people don’t need me near them in order to get everything they need and deserve from life, but it’s comforting to know that our friendship will forever stay the same.

“Do You Need Me Near” was beautifully produced by Mick Ross (Lanterns On The Lake, Ajimal, The Lake Poets), and will be released on April 28th via Trellis Records. After you support the single, make sure to support Mat’s live show at the Evolution Emerging Festival in Newcastle this May.

JNTHN STEIN – Everything Is a Drug [TMN Premiere]

One thing that a lot of people need to realize, is anything can be a drug. Whether it’s the gym, cheeseburgers, music, books or what have you, these things can have a profound effect on people. One person who – we would guess – agrees with that is JNTHN STEIN, whose single “Everything Is A Drug” is here today in the dojo.

The thoughtful, intriguing talent met up with us ninjas yet again after our enlightening interview with him to give you a first listen to his new song. “Everything Is A Drug” is a magical record that exemplifies a true mastery of music. JNTHN respects the creative process and that’s something you can hear in this cool record. It starts out quite chill but as things progress the production gets a bit more playful and energetic. It’s just a great song and we’re honored to have the pleasure of giving you the first listen to it today!

[Electronic] Demicat – OREDOROK EP

One word: OREDOROK. What is it? Well first, it’s the name of the new EP from Seoul producer Demicat and second it (basically) means forever in Korean. This five track project is going to be one of the best things you’ve listened to this week, if not the best.

Demicat gives us a taste of flavors from the East while dishing up a diverse array of sounds. He touches future bass, trap and beyond with his works on OREDOROK, a project that may truly live up to its name. All five singles are timeless and unique, showcasing the new heights that electronic music can reach if producers hone in. It’s CRAZY that this would be released as a free download, but it is, however if you want to do the right thing and support this project, you can do so through digital stores.

[Hip-Hop] CJ Warren – Throw It Back

CJ Warren is back after the release of his EP with a brand new single. “Throw It Back” sees the Detroit emcee partnering up with the producer Delray for a cool hip-hop jam. If you were looking for a booty-bouncing beast of a record, then you’ve come to the right place, as you might have guessed from the album art.

“Throw It Back” sports a laidback beat that has some familiar samples that add a nice touch to the song. Although it’s only Wednesday, this single is perfect for your weekend gatherings, whether you are kicking back or getting the party started. CJ is honing into his own style and sound, one that can make him stand out among the underground rap game. “Throw It Back” will be available on digital stores soon and CJ has let us know that another project is on its way, so get ready.

[Indie] Melis – Love Song Idea

A fresh face has come to us for the first time. Melis is making her world-wide debut with the single “Love Song Idea,” a song we are lucky to have for several reasons. One reason we’re lucky is because this song is amazing and the second reason is because according to the Melis herself, her hard drive broke and this file was the only one left for this track.

“Love Song Idea” is an unfiltered expression surrounding deep feelings of the heart. Soft-spoken and true to the complexities of human nature, Melis delivers a memorable performance of incredible lyrics that will pierce the soul. For this just being a song idea, it’s one hell of an idea. We can’t wait to hear what else Melis has coming; she surely isn’t stopping with this one song. Stream it today and stay tuned for more.

[Electronic] DROELOE – See Through Me

It’s Wednesday afternoon and all that we can think about is the minute the clock strikes 6, so we can bolt out of the office and hit those happy hour deals, or snuggle under the covers of our beds. But, why not eradicate that stigma we so often apply to the work week and look at it in a positive light? For us music lovers every day – whether it’s a miserable Monday or a “Friday fun day” – means new tunes, and at TMN it’s our passion to mine for the best-of-the-best and the freshest-of-the-fresh in music.

Selecting the most fitting songs for our listeners can get pretty difficult with all of the incredible music that’s out there, but electronic duo DROELOE made it almost too easy for us after we took a listen to their latest. “See Through Me” is a beautiful fusion of edginess and etherealness. Provoking intrigue from the very start with airy echoes and jagged synths, the single culminates with a spectacular explosion of rich melodies and harmonies that are paired perfectly with crisp percussion. DROELOE has us at hello through the release of “See Through Me,” while reminding us bloggers why we love digging for music so damn much.

[Indie] DVWEZ – The Life

“The Life” is here thanks to DVWEZ, the Florida songstress that’s coming up strong. Her dark, R&B original has seduced us with its infectious sound, one that is right up the alley of anybody looking for something with a shadowed hue to it.

DVWEZ gives us something that’s a bit different from the usual R&B sound. It takes more of an indie stance with intoxicating melodies and driving soundscapes that show more of a love for the underground than the mainstream. In giving her own take on things, DVWEZ stands out as someone to be not only noticed, but revered. “The Life” is a magnificent piece of music that your ears need to hear. Hence why we’re sharing it with you today!

[House] Bobby Nourmand – D U S T

One of the coolest cats around goes by the name of Bobby Nourmand. We were lucky enough to catch him in Miami and chat a bit and he told us he had something coming soon… And now that something is here. His single “D U S T” dropped today as a free download.

Bobby keeps things very chill with this deep cut that samples the great Moby. Although the song leans heavily on a relaxed, cosmic sound, Bobby still infuses a steady groove crowds can connect to. With shows on the horizon like the illustrious Tomorrowland, that groove is going to come in handy. Bobby has always been a unique producer pushing his own brand of house, one that stays true to the roots while taking things a step forward. Take in “D U S T” today and keep at the ready for more from Bobby Nourmand.

[Electronic] Kendl – For Her

To tease fans for his upcoming EP, Colours, Kendl went ahead and released “For Her” off the project early. Even if nobody else is – which is 100% not the case – all of us ninjas are ready for the EP as this single has us at the edge of our seats with our ears perked up.

“For Her” is an intimate house record that’s almost too chill to even be labeled as anything but electronic. Everything about it is subtle, but in those subtleties lies a remarkable beauty that is easy to connect to. It’s one of those songs that you simply lose yourself in. It’s not until the end of the record that the composition gets a bit more colorful and complex. “For Her” is not something you’re going to want to miss a second of. sumthin sumthin – Hollow [TMN Premiere]

If you’re ready for something extra hot, you’ve came to the right place. Today in the dojo we present to you a first listen to sumthin sumthin‘s new single “Hollow” from the Afterglow EP. The Los Angeles producer partnered up with Quality Goods Records for the EP, but Music Ninja for the premiere. Get ready, this one is steamin’ right out of the oven.

“Hollow” is beyond fantastic. It comes out of left-field with enough swagger to melt the entire bass scene in an instant. With so many producers trying to be like other producers, it’s extremely refreshing to hear someone doing something different – and even a bit weird in the best way possible. sumthin sumthin has a catalog that is impressive, yet small, but he’s growing it in a big way with this EP and specifically with “Hollow.” Enjoy the single early, as the full EP isn’t out until the 28th; however you can get your copy through digital services.

[Electronic] Astrocolor – Push Too Hard (feat. Fox Glove)

The best music often come with an elusive sound. A new release by the Canadian band Astrocolor bends rock, soul, electronic and so many other genres into something wonderful. An emotional vocal performance from Fox Glove brings an Erykah Badu influence while the instrumental jams and analogue synth have elements of Tycho or Boards of Canada.  They’re still relatively underground and building up their online presence but Astrocolor’s fresh modern sound points to big things down the line. “Push Too Hard”  is the lead single on a new 7-track album. It’s a solid listen from start to finish so be sure to head over and check out the full album if you like it.

One of our favorite producers has something special for you. Technically, us ninjas AND VenessaMichaels have something special for you in today’s premiere. Enter the dojo for a first listen to the LA producer’s flip of “Humble” originally by the one and only Kendrick Lamar.

Released today as a free download, this remix is just what you need to keep the party going after Coachella into the coming Summer months. Fans all across the world can jam to this hybrid single, whose dynamic sound will grab hold of bodies and get them shaking. [Electronic] The Federal Empire – The American Dream (Lux Pacific Remix)

Every once in a while a song comes along that captivates you instantly and you know it’s going to be a song you come back to time and time again. Lux Pacific did that for us, with his remix of “The American Dream” for The Federal Empire. The Californian’s flip is a masterpiece from start to finish.

Lux Pacific is a new name to the game, as witness by his Soundcloud only having two songs, including “The American Dream” remix. His smooth sound rests itself in between a handful of genres, making it a song that anybody can enjoy – and enjoy it they shall. Of course, Lux was working with great stems from the LA duo, but he was able to take things up a few levels with his work on the project. Lux has us very excited for the future with this one. We’ll be keeping a close eye on him and you should too.

[Electronic] Jackal – Gunshot feat. Jammin (WHIPPED CREAM Remix)

If you thought the beginning of your week was going to be dull, think again. Enter WHIPPED CREAM, whose remix of “Gunshot” by Jackal is going to turn your Monday into a Friday. To make things even better, WHIPPED CREAM dropped this hot one as a free download, so you’d be doing yourself a massive disservice by sleeping on it.

What’s great about this remix is it might even be better than the original. Now that’s usually hard to do – and even harder to judge – but this one just has a bit more energy and attitude than it’s counterpart, which is saying a lot given its nature. WHIPPED CREAM came with her guns blazing, flipping “Gunshot” into exactly what people are looking for this Summer. It’s harder, with a second drop that is just absolutely savage. Enjoy it today and don’t forget to download it for free!

[Electronic] Manic Focus – Minds Rising LP

Manic Focus has continuously kept in his own lane with his own sound. The amazing thing about him is that his style translates across genre lines, which is undoubtedly evident from his past albums, as well as his newest in Minds Rising. Independently released, this major project is yet another example of why MF is one of the best in the game, with a certain confidence – not cockiness – that most producers lack.

Minds Rising runs the length of twelve singles, with a lengthy list of collaborators including Exmag, Psymbionic, Russ Liquid, ProbCause and many more. As with most of Manic’s tracks, we get whisked away on a chill adventure through several styles, including a few hip-hop records that are just about as dope as you can get. With other tracks like “Pushing” and “Rage Fits” Manic Focus hones in one some groovy basslines and guitar riffs that seduce the soul. Manic always manages to connect with people on a deep level with his music, which is one of the many reasons why he’s been able to do so well on his own.

Through and through this album is incredible. Going into this LP we didn’t expect we’d have to skip any songs and that held true. Some of our favorite musical works have come from Manic Focus and there may just be a few that get added to the list from Minds Rising. Check it out for yourself today and make sure to get a copy.

[Trap] M4SONIC & YDG – About It

“About It” from M4SONIC & YDG is, put simply, fire. This trap treat was released just two days ago through Ultra Music. It’s been our weekend jam in the dojo when we’ve needed a little pick me up for the parties. It’s going to serve you well in getting you through this upcoming week and it’ll still be fresh enough for the next weekend when it comes.

M4SONIC & YDG work in tandem to give fans the anthem they want for festival season. It’s catchy, with hot melodies that will burn themselves into your mind, but it’s not one of those watered down songs that has producers reaching for something too far and trying too hard. It seemed everything flowed nicely – no pun intended – especially the rap verses that add that extra sweet touch to make “About It” even more memorable. Ultra Music has this one up on digital stores if you’re looking to add it to your library.

[Dubstep] Prismatic – Marathon EP

MA Music continues expanding their catalog with the Marathon EP from Prismatic. Fans of dubstep will enjoy this pure-bread project as it has all the bass you could ever want, plus more. Marathon consists of four tracks total, including collaboration with Dubscribe and DELTAnine.

Sometimes when a project is all one genre, things can feel a bit repetitive after a while, but you never reach that point in Marathon. Prismatic went all out with his musical assault, leaving nothing behind so that listeners could have an EP that wasn’t skippable at any time. Headbanging is encouraged, as each song just calls for you to throw yourself back and forth to the beat. All the songs fit together in the grand scheme of the EP, however each individually stand on their own as strong singles as well. We’re not even going to attempt to pick a favorite, but maybe you can. Stream the full EP below and head over to digital stores for a copy if you want it.

[Dubstep] Savant – Rex

It’s been a long time coming since Savant released a full project, but that project is finally here. Today we will share with you a single track off of the producer’s long awaited album, Jester, which was independently released on April 17th. In an attempt to push Spotify, only a few of the fourteen total songs were put on Soundcloud, including “Rex” which we have below.

“Rex” is fraught with Savant’s iconic style. His love for classic video game sounds come out strong and heavy in this bass-boosted dubstep hit. Playful and enticing, “Rex” was one of our favorite songs on a project packed with goodies. Savant’s ability to give fans a taste of what they want, mixed with what he wants has always been a strength of his from a song-writing angle, whether intentional or not. “Rex” sees Savant moving forward with his sound, while also not delving away from who he is, something that is now common among producers (thanks future bass). Check out “Rex” below and make sure to check out the full LP on iTunes.

[Multi-Genre] KJ Sawka – Unity Of Purpose EP

Pendulum and Destroid’s drum-loving basshead KJ Sawka has released quite the EP through Impossible Records. Complete with five singles, Unity Of Purpose is everything a lover of low frequencies is looking for. Some dub, some DnB and even a little bit of something extra on top.

KJ starts things off with a huge prelude that is nothing short of epic. From there we dive into some heavy bass in “Face Crack” which will do just that if you’re not too careful. If that didn’t get you hyped for some reason, then the drum & bass record “Running Away” will get you fired up. What may be our favorite single comes next in “The Time Has Come” although it’s hard to really choose a #1. Lastly, KJ returns with Emilia Sosa for “Monster,” the most unique song out of the non-prelude bunch. Get your copy of the EP through iTunes today, or head over to KJ’s Soundcloud for the free batch.

[Deep House] GOLDHOUSE – Sex On Me

Chicago is legendary for its house music. There’s a long, LONG list of talented artists pushing the genre in all sorts of directions and one of those is GOLDHOUSE. Grant Harris does his artist moniker justice by pushing out some of the most insatiable house around, which is just what he did with his single “Sex On Me” released through Armada Deep.

“Sex On Me” is just that: aural sex, and you’re going to want it all over you. Will it go on repeat? Yes, without question. What makes this song what it is – what makes it special – is the pop treatment both the instrumental and vocal carry. I’m sure there are people out there who will want to debate exactly what “Sex On Me” is, but we don’t really want any of that. What we want it to kick back, relax and enjoy one hell of a record over and over again. This will likely be your plan of action as well! Keep the good vibes up.

jackLNDN – Never Get Enough [TMN Premiere]

We always want more jackLNDN. The – you guessed it – London producer has a nearly endless catalog of amazing records and he adds yet another through the Ultra imprint today. “Never Get Enough” comes to you first, right here in the dojo for a special premiere.

This record gets funky quick with a cool, classy tone whose infectious sound will take over your body in a hurry. “Never Get Enough” is easily one of our favorite jackLNDN tunes, which shows us that he’s not slowing down one bit. Although this record is certainly a deep house cut, the crossover sound makes this reachable to anyone who likes a groovy, catchy record, so basically anybody. Only time will tell just how popular this song gets, but all we can say is it can make big things happen and you heard it here first in the dojo! Want a copy? [Music Video] Nite Jewel – Real High

Ramona Gonzales’ lo-fi bedroom recording project turned avant-pop sensation, Nite Jewel, is just weeks away from the release of her fourth full-length album on her own imprint Gloriette Records, Real High. The soft tongued Gonzales has undergone many an iteration under her Nite Jewel pseudonym; starting with the fuzzily dreary art-pop found on her debut 2009 LP Good Evening, which buried her soulful refrain in gauzy synths and recording static, to last year’s Liquid Cool, in which Gonzales more than hit her vocal stride; letting those melancholic reverberations sit front and center amongst her husband and producer Cole M.G.N.’s subdued, polished production. Thus far, we’ve been treated to two singles (and videos) from Real High (“2 Good 2 Be True”, “The Answer”) and today we’ve been gifted a third in the form of the album’s title track, and we’re more than perked up towards her latest offering

“I’m looking for a real high and a real low, isn’t that the way love goes?”, coos Gonzales on “Real High”, perhaps unveiling the long-player’s central thesis in the process. Through the bits and pieces that so far have fallen from Real High, we get the feeling that the album as a whole will dive into this twisted paradigm, and we’re ready to fall right in along with Ramona & Co. Nite Jewel are simultaneously harnessing down for their first US tour in 5 years (see dates here), and you can bet the Ninja faithful will be there with her in a city near you. Until then, listen and watch the visual accompaniment to “Real High” below.

Fans of Lektrique may already know this, but the Belgian producer is quite the talented skateboarder. His social media has several videos of him doing some really cool tricks in various places, including inside his mom’s house! Although she probably didn’t appreciate that, what we appreciated was the skate-influenced music video for his single “Shred.”

Created as an homage to his pastime, the song was just calling for a music video. Instead of showing off his skills by doing some combo lines, Lektrique built an Excalibur-esque story around an intriguing looking deck. The short video is a fun addition to a song that is still getting love from his fans, as well as producers like Far Too Loud and DJ BL3ND. Check out the video below and make sure to get a copy of “Shred” if you haven’t yet! PS, fans of Kannibalen Records label mates BTSM may recognize a few faces in the video 😉

[Indie] LARCY Released Two Heartfelt Singles This Month

It’s always a pleasure to get a solid release from an artist you like. It’s even better when they drop two back to back within a month. That’s what happened with LARCY this month. Instead of simply dropping the audio for her song “Thinkin’, Drinkin'” she decided to also give fans a chance to hear “Gotta Pretend.”

As always, these two tracks are deeply personal and emotional. That’s how she’s always connected to fans and that’s what she’ll continue to do into the future. With “Thinkin’, Drinkin'” we get a soft, soulful single that we previously got a helping of with her music video for it. Next, LARCY dropped her heartfelt, piano-driven original “Gotta Pretend.” Make sure you have some tissues nearby, because this one might flood the tear tunnels. The first song is available on iTunes, but the second is only available to stream; however, there are talks of an EP in the future. Stay tuned…

[Pop] Lenii – Sober Dreams

The 20 year old Lenii is kicking off her career with a major single called “Sober Dreams.” For being so young, Lenii is quite mature on top of being a very talented artist. On top of singing, she’s quite the producer as you get to experience with her debut record.

“Sober Dreams” is clearly a pop record, but underneath it all it takes some influence from around the dance music world, breathing future sounds into the mix for a super fresh hit. One thing is for sure: Lenii has a ton of potential. She could very easily get to the top of the music industry in a hurry. We’ve only heard one song so far, but it’s enough to know she’s got a lot more goodies coming. Only time will tell, but for now enjoy “Sober Dreams” and get your copy today.

Sober Dreams is about being there for a person through ups and downs. It’s about listening to others and healing ourselves through ambition and thinking more consciously.

[Electronic] Major Minor x Aerborn – Smokers and Jokers

If for some reason you are not a follower of Uprise Music, you should change that real quick. They’ve always got great things coming out, like “Smokers and Jokers” from Major Minor and Aerborn. This freely downloadable single is a bit different than what we’re used to from the label, but it makes for a nice new breathe in their catalog.

Major Minor deem their music “Tropical Trap” and as ridiculous as that may sound to many, it’s actually dope – AND there’s really no other way to describe it. Just take “Smokers and Jokers” which exemplifies this without hesitation. They’ve knocked down and style and they nail it. This time around they add Aerborn to the mix whose vocal performance on this is nothing short of outstanding. Together all these Aussies cooked up a chiller that is a must have. Grab it before you go!

[Electronic] Donna Lewis – I Love You Always Forever (RYNO Remix)

Everyone should know Donna Lewis’ memorable 1996 hit single “I Love You Always Forever.” It’s classics like this that get people into music. Whether it got RYNO into music or not, we can’t be too sure, but we do know it influenced the New York producer in some way. How? Because he recently released a cover/remix of the track on Soundcloud.

RYNO takes “I Love You Always Forever” a whole different direction, adding many elements you aren’t going to find in the original. For a large part of the first half or so of the song, we get something that is simply an expanded cover, although great; it adds some instrumental elements along with a fresh voice for the lyrics. As it moves along we do get to a “drop” that gives us a little taste of electronic sounds that adds a nice touch to the cover. Check it out today and stay tuned for more music from RYNO in 2017!

[Synth-Wave] Pr0files – Money

The Los Angeles based synthesis of Lauren Pardini and Danny Sternbaum, known more widely under their stage moniker Pr0files, have returned with their first, darkly-tinged piece of synth-pop to pace 2017, “Money”. While it’s unfortunately been a bit of a lengthy gap since we last checked in with the genre-busting pair, “Money” has us once again ready to devour their every aural sentiment.

Coming off of their debut LP Jurassic Technologie last year, Pr0files are clearly keeping their warranted buzz afloat. Anchored by a slickly dark & synthetic, shoegaze-y backbone bolstered by Pardini’s sonorous yet fitting reverberations; Pr0files create a simultaneously gloomy and uplifting 3:00 minutes of music. On “Money”, Pardini speaks to the duo’s arduous journey as a truly independent project, creating a sort of weighty anthem for those who have experienced those sky-high peaks and deep valleys associated with committing to your art (“I took a xanax in a milkshake just to get me through that day”); while Sternbaum’s seemingly effortless, full production sblimely rounds out “Money”‘s vocal-centric aesthetic. Needless to say, we’ve got our ears perked up towards Pr0files as they unveil more layers to their 2017 iteration and will be right there with them every step of the way. Stream “Money” above.

VILDE – Maintain [TMN PREMIERE]

I hadn’t ever experienced the newly coined genre of “Study-Dance,” but that’s probably because this is my first experience with Australian-born, Stockholm-based VILDE. After only a few spins through, I now have a full grasp of it, and quite frankly, I’m enamored.

VILDE’s style should call on associations of other heady artists who effortlessly combine emotive and intelligent lyrics with danceable beats and delicious synth arpeggios, yet you’ll find that it stands alone, steadfast and well-defined. “Maintain” showcases just that, as do his previous releases, each of which is a build to an eventual full album release.

Until that release day comes, we strongly encourage you to spend some serious time with “Maintain.” It’s certainly a cerebral piece, while still maintaining a coveted approachability. Thanks in part to his unique vocal tone, which should have Alt-J fans tipping their proverbial cap, it’s immidiately welcoming, keeping listeners locked in and engaged throughout long build, driving percussion, and impressive lyrics.

The subject matter of the song is somewhat of a crammed amalgamation of ideas. Part inspired by the film ‘Ace in the Hole’, where a news reporter begins to twist events in a dark way to gain fame through his portrayal of the story. There’s some pretty bleak imagery in the lyrics, yet bits of optimism seep through too, provoking a sense of solitude, release & calm.

If you’re digging this, head over to his SoundCloud to fully immerse yourself. Then, hope and pray he’ll be coming to your city soon.

Palm Trees – You Were The One [TMN Premiere]

Get ready for some good vibes from Amsterdam’s own Palm Trees. Not only do you get to hear the new single “You Were The One,” but you get to hear it first in the dojo. In this premiere you get a Summer-stricken poppy house record that is going to stick in your mind and live for the next several days, if not longer.

Pop has managed to invade so many electronic genres lately, but with “You Were The One” it feels like a natural combination. Palm Trees provides an introduction that feels 100% organic and only by surprise do we get lifted into an electronic setting with soft grooves that still are centered around an acoustic sound. It’s a cool mix of several styles and sounds melded into one song that we’ve been hype on ever since it slid into the dojo. Enjoy a first listen to “You Were The One” today!

[Electronic] Douchka – Call You Mine feat. Lia

France’s own Douchka dropped an emotional single on March 31st called “Call You Mine” with Canadian singer Lia. Released through Nowadays Records, this single of love and longing is one that may just bring a tear to your eyes. It shares point of view that a lot of us have found ourselves in sometime in the past, or even now. Let the feels rain.

“Call You Mine” sounds like it’s going to be a poppy, upbeat song about a love story. Instead, it flips things with a tone that’s much less A-okay, but the song itself is A+ dope. Douchka perfectly embodies the emotion that the lyrics convey. Lia’s performance on this song oozes with raw feelings that, if the instrumental didn’t do it already, will put you over the edge. Catch a copy of this single on digital stores or add it to your Spotify playlist. Whatever you choose to do, enjoy.

[Indie/Electronic] Wilsonn – Thankful

Every time I turn around another dope artist is popping their head out of Australia. Wilsonn is the most recent artist welcomed to the dojo, alongside his single “Thankful.” Fans of soul will be head over heals for this creator whose touching sound is more than a simple listening experience.

“Thankful” really makes you feel just that, thankful. It’s an intimate single with powerful lyrics and soundscapes that provide a figurative hug of warmth that you can’t resist. Wilsonn’s vocal is one that will stay in our hearts and minds for quite a long time to come. Although it’s Summer and the “jams” are being brought out like there’s no tomorrow, it’s nice to hear something soothing like this one. Take some time, appreciate “Thankful” and do the same for those things you hold dear around you.

[Future Bass] EGZOD Drops Two Heaters B2B

France to Florida producer EGZOD didn’t just drop one single, he dropped two. The first came through No Copyright Sounds for free, while the second through our friends at Uprise Music as a free download as well. Both reside in the future bass arena, but each have their own feel that’s different from the other.

We’ll take a look at “Paper Crowns” first, a pop-infused record that features the vocalist Leo The Kind. Both artists work together to create something that is memorable and fresh. With “Celestial” the sound shifts to a more forwardly uplifting vibe that has a bigger vibe to it. It feels celestial, as though the experience it gives is all around you. Like we said before, both songs were released for free, but if you feel like showing your support to this talented producer, go on to a digital store and buy copies.

[House] Andy Sherman – Swagga

We’re big fans of Shermanaology. When we saw that Andy Sherman, the male half of the duo came out with a single through Confession, we were pumped. The song goes by “Swagga” and it’s got a whole lot of it. Dark and funky, this is just the quirky tune house heads have been aching for.

From the get go you realize you’re in for something a bit different. Andy gets things started in a hurry, throwing you into the mix of a saucy bassline, filling out the composition with some crispy percussive work that adds to the overall groove – and craze – of the track. It’s the perfect mix of what Confession puts out with Andy’s unique taste. Spring is here and people are bringing out their best for Summer shows, but this may be one of the most iconic tunes yet. Check it out today and grab a copy for yourself from digital stores.

[Dubstep] Stabby – Bushido EP

Bassheads gather, an inferno of low frequencies has been delivered. Unsurprisingly, it comes from the Never Say Die crew, but to be more exact it comes from the Bangkok beat machine Stabby. The EP has been deemed Bushido, which stands for the way of the Samurai. If you couldn’t get the connection through the artwork, we made it easy for you.

What Stabby made easy was a project that you can get through without skipping a single second. Through and through the Bushido EP is glorious. Five songs deep, this heavy excursion is one you’re not going to want to miss. Stabby is among a roster of some of the best bass artists in the world, but he shows up with all he’s got, showcasing why he should be considered as someone near the top of the NSD crew. Ninja favorites include “Act One” and “Hagakure” which has a more of a hybrid sound than the other singles. “Power Fist” is the only one missing below, so check that one if when you get a copy of the EP!

[Multi-Genre] Kai Wachi – Demons Remixes EP

It’s not easy taking on official remix duties for Kai Wachi. As one of bass music’s most promising producers, his works are remarkable. However, the people over at Kannibalen Records did a good job of finding some talent that could take on such a challenge. Those talents include Black Tiger Sex Machine, Liquid Stranger, SQUNTO and NuKid.

Let’s break it down nice and simple to get through each remix. First, Black Tiger Sex Machine bring their hard and heavy electro sound to a song deserving of their dark energy. Next comes the veteran Liquid Stranger whose booming basslines will blow your speakers up if you’re not too careful. SQUNTO continues with the halftime count, bringing forth his riddim-centric take on Kai’s original. Lastly, NuKid kicks up a cool house remix that’s got a whole lot of groove. Enjoy them all and make sure to get a copy of the EP!

[Trap/Future] ISAAC LEE – I DON’T MIND

We wouldn’t mind if Isaac Lee came out with a new song every week. This dude is the real deal. Today he dropped a dope new single through 20XX called “I Don’t Mind.” We’re going to go ahead and just tell you now to get a copy of the single from iTunes. You must have it.

“I Don’t Mind” is a dark, seductive single that moves between two genres without any problem. Isaac Lee doesn’t care that Summer is here, he’s bringing a haunting, overcast vibe that we just can’t get enough of; we’ve had this jam on repeat since we first hit play. It will wrap itself around you and it doesn’t let go easily. When people say a song is “big” it has a certain type of quality to it that makes it feel like it is overtaking you from all angles and that’s just what “I Don’t Mind” does. It’s a hell of tune that – like we said before – is a must have.

[Electronic] Asmow – Don’t Know How (feat. Aviella)

The mystique surrounding the Portugeues producer Asmow is no gimmick and doesn’t play into the fad of enigma. Instead, the mystery is there to allow for the focus from fans to be directly on what’s important: the music.

Most recently the music is the single “Don’t Know How” featuring the vocalist Aviella, which was released through the Manifesto imprint. Given the producer’s background as a multi-instrumentalist this single is heavily influenced by natural, acoustic sounds with even the synthetic ones having an organic edge to them. “Don’t Know How” is a beautiful single that sets itself right in between several styles of electronic music, giving us something that is extremely accessible, even if you don’t call yourself a lover of anything that can be construed as “EDM.” Love the song like we do? You’re in luck, it’s been released as a free download.

SLUMBERJACK – RA (Sippy Remix) [TMN Premiere]

All of the ninjas get excited every time we premiere something. Sometimes a song comes along that we get even more riled up for and that is happening today. In this TMN Premiere we’re showcasing one of Australia’s hottest talents, the basshead Sippy who took on a remix of “RA” by SLUMBERJACK.

Innovative, lively and heavy as hell, Sippy’s flip of “RA” is too fresh not to love. She pays enough homage to the original so you make the connection, but for the most part the song is all her own. With festival season here, producers are bringing out their big guns, but here we have a behemoth of bass whose quality and immeasurable size can’t be denied. It’s just a magnificent piece of electronic music, plain and simple; a remix done right. Sippy swayed us and now she’s landed one of our favorite premieres of the year so far. Enjoy it for yourself and stay tuned for what else is to come from Sydney’s own. Make sure to grab the free download as well.

[Music Video] Feder – Back For More feat. Daecolm

Warner Music’s successful release of “Back For More” from Feder has prompted the creation of a music video. With it we get a set of seaside images to accompany the collaboration with Daecolm, who makes a cameo in the video. As you would expect from a major label signee, the video is quite incredible, looking more like a short film than a music video.

If you’re wondering where this beautiful piece of art was filmed, look no further than Sicily. The landscape and story are both assets that will pull on your heart, not to mention the song at the head of the pack. Everything about this project is packed with strong emotions that no doubt conjure up feelings in anybody who lays their eyes and ears on it. If nothing else, you’ll groove to the song and be amazed by the scenery. But, there’s more to it than that, so enjoy. If you haven’t gotten a copy of the song yet, do so today through digital stores.

[Future/Trap] DJ Snake – Here Comes The Night (NGHTMRE Remix)

A few days ago DJ Snake dropped a mega remix pack for the single “Here Comes The Night.” Among the remixers was one of our good friends, the one and only NGHTMRE. As you may expect, his flip of the hit single is a masterpiece.

NGHTMRE didn’t go the easy route in taking on the original. Instead of looping the drop back, each section is completely different, showing off the producer’s songwriting ability and creative fortitude, as the styles aren’t exactly the same. They fit together and because NGHTMRE was at the helm, the flow was spotless. We won’t spoil anything further, just know you are in for a treat. After you check out NGHTMRE’s remix, go on ahead and check out our other favorite flip from Crankdat.

[Future Bass] OTR – Already Gone feat. Kelsie Rimmer

Cincinatti’s OTR just dropped a hot one. Luckily “Already Gone” isn’t going anywhere. This fun future original was created alongside help from the Australian vocalist Kelsie Rimmer who deserves a standing ovation for her awesome performance on this one.

“Already Gone” is what most producers set out to make when they wanna pin down this style. The thing is they just don’t do it like OTR. It’s hard to stand out among so many talented creators who are pushing future bass, but OTR gives us some compelling evidence as to why those three letters need to be near the top of your list. With “Already Gone” we get something that isn’t just playable a few times and then it’s stowed away; rather, it’s something that you’ll be abusing the repeat function with. Check it out today and grab a copy from iTunes.

[Music Video] Stolen Jars – Long New York

“Long New York” comes to us from the New Jersey band Stolen Jars through their glint EP. The soft-spoken single was a highlight among an EP that was filled with lovable tracks. Even more lovable is the adventurous music video for the tune.

Perfectly encapsulating the light, playful vibe of the song, the music video does everything right to be a great visual fit. Good videos are not new to the band, who recently released an animation for their single “Eliot” which was amazing. With that and this video, a certain nostalgia is built into their work, one that is an echo of the worry free times of childhood. Despite the uplifting tone, there lurks the reality of time and memory, both of which can fade. Enjoy the music video below and make sure to keep up with Stolen Jars as their entire EP will be put into visual form!

[Electronic/Indie] OddKidOut – Full Circle EP

The Full Circle EP from OddKidOut is more than a simple collection of six singles. It’s a declaration, a beacon of light coming straight from Philly, the birthplace of Neo-soul; a place that hasn’t paid enough attention lately to it’s musical child. OddKidOut’s goal with this project was to push the neo-soul sound to new heights from his and the genre’s home.

Full Circle is a smooth soiree of sounds that move fluidly between each other. Although OddKidOut and producer 1403 were aiming at neo-soul, they don’t exclusively stay within the genre, bringing different moods and textures to the table with each song. Favorites that we’ve been playing out in the dojo are “Angel Dust” and “Wonderfull” but “30,000 Feet” and “Blush” are quite seductive as well. Like what you are hearing? Get a copy of Full Circle off iTunes today.

Our mindset on the EP was to create music that was true to us. We didn’t want to create something that everyone has already heard before. Drawing on inspirations from space, the sea, and many more, we were able to effectively create a project that had influences from a plethora of concepts.

[Multi-Genre] Bear Grillz – This Is Your Brain On Dubstep EP

Bear Grillz is one of dance music’s most iconic characters. The hairy-honey loving bear came before the days of Marshmello, a time before a surge of DJs thought it was necessary to wear something over their face. He’s always done his own thing and he continues to do so with This Is Your Brain On Dubstep.

Whether you like him or not, you’ve got to respect him. BG’s tenacity for doing what he likes was apparent from the moment the project came into the scene. With the new EP, it’s a got a little of what you like, some of what you didn’t know you needed, as well as a single that is something entirely new from Bear Grillz. With five songs, there’s a lot going on, but we’ll sum things up for you. Every collaborator on the project killed it; they include Sullivan King, Selah Ford, Sam King and Kompany. This Is Your Brain On Dubstep gets started with one of the project’s best songs in “Hold On” and ends with the other heavy hit “Honey Drop.”

In between we get a barrage of cool tracks, all of which are worthy of a full listen through. This is where you’ll find the future faced “Long Run” that has Bear Grillz going outside of his usual realm. Released on Axwell’s Axtone, Dreaming Wild is a stunning collection of four singles. When an extended project like this, one that takes the listener on a journey usually pans out better for both parties. That’s the case with this wonderful EP. Each song is different, each one fresh to the others, making the full EP experience highly enjoyable. He touches on future bass, electro and more, with our favorite being the house hit “Koto.” They’re all fire, but this one is especially hot. To expand upon the project, a concept video was made for the entire EP, connecting the songs like never before. The Norwegian really did something cool with this exploration into different aspects of relationships.

It’s not easy to create one emotional tune that will connect with the world, let alone three. That’s just what the Girls EP is, but then to go ahead and make a short film bringing all three pieces together is incredible. [Trap] Faethoms – Hypernautics

Get ready to get hype with “Hypernautics” from Faethoms. If you like hybrid bass (you know, that heavy trapstyle good good) then you are in for a treat. Strap in, turn up the volume and get prepare for some booming bass to fill the room.

“Hypernautics” has a sort of dark, haunting intro that really sets the tone nicely for what’s to come. With the first drop we only get a taste of some heavy sounds, but don’t worry, they come in full force soon enough. In mentioning the sounds, we do have to say each and every one is designed to perfection, especially the main synth in the drop. It stands out among one of the most interesting samples we’ve heard. Overall, “Hypernautics” is a hit and it is a song you need. Don’t worry, it’s a free download, so hop on it.

[Future Bass] Daijo – Right Now feat. Raeliss

We’re happy to present to you the return of Daijo with his second single. “Right Now” is here, delivered independently by the producer himself. Although it was released by Daijo, the song was created alongside Raeliss, who smashed the vocals on this one.

“Right Now” shows Daijo continuing with his future pop sound. The song starts out with a more ethereal, cosmic vibe that feels as though it is encompassing the listener. The Raeliss vocal comes through as a shining light among the atmospheres. After a minute, Daijo drops us into the heart of the track. Sky-rocketing synths headline a subtly frenzied composition that will take your breathe away. If Daijo can continue his streak of solid singles or maybe even a whole EP, then he’ll be well on his way to the top.

Dim Mak is kicking off the weekend with a sick new track from the New Zealand producer QUIX. “Riot Call” featuring Nevve is the record and future is the sound. From the very beginning this tune will snag your attention only to never let go.

Fair warning, you may leave your repeat button engaged for a good bit after answering to “Riot Call.” The Nevve vocal is tremendous, one of our favorite performances on an EDM track this year. That doesn’t take away from the amazing work QUIX did on this hard-nosed instrumental. The drop has more edge to it than most future singles do, giving it a slightly different mood than what we’re generally used to. The heavier sound will be perfect for the Summer festival season, where we’re sure you’ll here this one being played. Check it out today and grab a copy from iTunes.

Esseks – Wat Did I Do [TMN Premiere]

Today Sleeveless Records released volume two of their West Coast Bass compilation series. One part of that project was a single created by Sam Eckstein, aka Esseks. “Wat Did I Do” is the song and the dojo is where you’re getting a first listen to it!

“Wat Did I Do” is the embodiment of the compilation series. It oozes that laidback west coast vibe, while bringing some sleek basslines to the table. Esseks gets the action going quickly, not playing around in any way. It’s straight to the point with everything it’s got, including it’s classic style that newer producers can’t seem to pin down this well. What makes things even better is that you can download the single for free. If you like what you’re hearing, make sure to check out the full compilation, complete with sixteen tunes.

Gladiator – Bonk ft. Metric Man [TMN Premiere]

Insomniac Records continues to build it’s impressive catalog by adding a project with the duo Gladiator. Their EP is due out on Friday, but we like to give you sneak previews in the dojo when we can. This is why today you are getting a first listen to the single “Bonk” featuring Metric Man.

Get ready for something a bit different with “Bonk.” It’s OG feel, twisted together with subtle nuances taken from jungle, this single has a lot going on. It’s a medley of several sounds that have influenced the duo, brought together with their own signature flair. They’re aiming to bring this one to pop off at festivals, which is a goal we believe they are going to reach quite easily. “Bonk” will be available this Friday alongside another single, both of which will be purchasable at that time. Check out the single below as well as what Gladiator had to say about the tune.

Bonk was a dark, after hours type of record inspired by our love of classic house tunes. Once Metric came on board with his large, booming voice and call to the dance floor, it gave the tune a truly massive feel that made it perfect for the festival stage.

[Hip-Hop] Conrad Clifton – Nitemare (feat. Knesecary)

Brooklyn producer Conrad Clifton first caught our attention with a dynamic remix that found a beautiful balance between elements of dreamy pop and hard-hitting trap. Often times, SoundCloud discoveries of that nature can lead to a dead end–many producers prove to be one-trick ponies, others seem to have struck lightning their one and only time. The most delightful cases, though, occur when a producer surprises you with both quality and sonic diversity. Such has been the case thus far with Clifton’s subsequent glimpses into his upcoming debut album, Beautiful Tragedy.

On his latest single, Clifton showcases yet another facet of his production talents with the help of Texas emcee Knesecary. “Nitemare” grows out of an eerie loop that leaves just the right amount of room for the vocals to glide between the cracks. As Knesecary’s rhymes get more complex so does the production making for an enveloping, mischievous build. Conrad was kind enough to give us some insight into how the song came together:

Most of my songs come from searching through random virtual instruments, and when I came across this echoing plucked string sound effect, it immediately felt like something you’d hear in a scary movie. For “Nitemare”, I literally built the whole track around it…I’ve known Knes for years, ever since I lived in Texas around 2000 – and we did a lot of songs together back then, but I’m really glad I was able to highlight his talent here. He translated what the music was saying with the perfection of a seasoned vet, and the craft of a true lover of Hip-Hop.

If you’re digging this tune, make sure to pre-order Beautiful Tragedy, which drops on April 28th. The release will also be the first on his label, Infinity Pool Recordings, which in his own words will focus on “forward-thinking Electronic music, and Hip-Hop.”

[Trap] Skrillex & Team EZY Feat. NJOMZA – Pretty Bye Bye (Bad Royale Remix)

We thought a Bad Royale remix with Walshy Fire in one week was enough, but apparently the BR boys didn’t think so. Now enter their remix of “Pretty Bye Bye” by Skrillex x Team EZY and NJOMZA. Available as a free download, this behemoth is a must have and you have no excuse to sleep on it.

The thing we love about Bad Royale is that they have their own style. It translates across several genres, but one of their mainstays is the trap arena, which this resides in. Their sound design is unique, whether you’re talking the first drop or the second (OMG is this one dank) and their style is something others can’t easily replicate. Bad Royale are truly one of a kind and they prove it through every single release they do. “Pretty Bye Bye” in it’s new form has a totally new makeup and may even be better. We’ll let you decide!

[Music Video] Alien Knife Fight – Flightplan

Kickback, strap in and get ready to lift off. “Flightplan” from Alien Knife Fight is here. The do it yourselfers Monique and Michael not only wrote and performed their jammy single, but they did a ton of work alongside a very select few others on the music video for the project.

Great rock has always been a raw, unfiltered experience and Alien Knife Fight are a pillar in that regard. As heard and seen with “Flightplan” they are doing things their own way and it really shows. With this single we get a tasteful, vibey tune that calls for lighters (not cell phones) in the air. It’s certainly doesn’t take a leap to imagine that in a live scenario. In mentioning a live show, if you’re in California, they’re playing a string of shows starting today in both the Northern and Southern parts of the great state. Check out their Facebook page for details after you follow through with “Flightplan.”
