[Hip-Hop] Kai Mella – Lowkey Alcoholic

There’s a new emcee in the game that goes by the name Kai Mella. “Lowkey Alcoholic” is the first single from the project and it’s already got us hooked with its catchy hip-hop sound.

First thing that comes to mind is that this could easily be on the radio. It’s got just the right type of sound with lively lyrics and a beat that is to die for. It’s not one of those hip-hop tracks that feels watered down and lifeless, instead Kai delivers a song that’s easy to sing/rap along to while you sway to the instrumental. With this being his first single, only time will tell where he can go. Judging from this, he’s got potential to do some real damage and takeover the game.

SOOHAN – Collective Effervescence LP [TMN Premiere]

If you’re not familiar with SOOHAN, then today you need to dedicate to SOOHAN. As far as unique sounds go, SOOHAN is locked in as not only one of the most iconic, but one of the best. Today we’re very proud to present to you the premiere his album Collective Effervescence in the dojo.

Blending sounds from across the world with electronic music is SOOHAN’s bread and butter, nobody can do it like he. With Collective Effervescence we get his usual international flare with ten tracks total. It’s a massive project, but then again all of his projects run deep. Each is a remix of a track you probably haven’t heard, but that’s totally alright. SOOHAN breathes new life into each with his own signature. Enjoy the LP today and if you haven’t checked out his other works, we highly urge you to do so!

[R&B/Soul] Kendall Morgan – Undertow

Let Kendall Morgan take you into the weekend with the mega chiller “Undertow” that just came out. The independent Nashville starlet has seduced us with her soulful original and we’ve got this one in repeat in the dojo.

“Undertow” is a smooth mix of soul and contemporary R&B, in a nutshell. However, what makes this song so special is the subtle nuances it has from other genres, mostly taken from electronic music. In utilizing things like subtle wobbles and spacey synths, it juxtaposes and otherworldly feel with a down to Earth sound. The producer Llamabeats really did something unique with the instrumental, but when it comes down to it the highlight is Kendall’s performance. Together they make quite a team and “Undertow” is a magnificent piece of music.

[Music Video] Una Sand – Wanderlust

The move to create stunning lyric videos that goes beyond simple text is a great one. Una Sand follows suit with the video for her single “Wanderlust” that came out through Universal on September 22nd. As you’d imagine, it’s more music than lyric video.

The video’s concept is quite simple, allowing the viewer some degree of entertainment while still being able to retain the lyrics that pop onto the screen. Una finds herself wandering through the city, allowing us to follow her on her calming adventure. “Wanderlust” as a song is a chilled out poppy piece that is exactly what you need for your Fall playlists. Check out the video below and add it to your Spotify today.

Charlotte Black – All Over You [TMN Premiere]

Charlotte Black is about to be all over your playlists. Her new single “All Over You” is being premiered here in the dojo with her music video. Together they’ll get you familiarized with the young London songstress who just this year has jump started her career.

“All Over You” is a dembow heavy pop track with a a seductive vocal performance from Charlotte. It’s a slow burner but it keeps up the heat nicely throughout. With the video, we see Charlotte front and center moving between scenes in various locations including a wicked pool and the beach. It’s an entertaining counterpart to a great song. Enjoy them both in exclusively in the dojo!

HAMi Shares Top 5 Crazy Celebrity Encounters & New Track [TMN Premiere]

We just can’t keep HAMi out of the dojo, which is totally fine, because we love having him here. The professional skater turned producer HAMi already stopped by for a chat once, and now he’s back with some crazy celebrity stories alongside a brand new single. You heard it here first!

“Molly Water” comes out tomorrow in full, but we’ve got you covered in the dojo with an exclusive premiere listen. Furthermore, HAMi has come as to share some wild run-ins that he’ll never forget. Enjoy “Molly Water” and read through HAMi’s top 5 crazy celebrity encounters including ones with Dave Chappelle, Ozzy Osbourne and two individuals who can’t even be named.

Lil Wayne

So around this time Wayne was really getting into skating heavy and was in LA all the time skating with all the homies. I never had the opportunity to do so though. Note that I am a huge supporter of his music so naturally I really wanted to meet him. Long story short I’m at the “Transworld” skateboarding video premiere, everyone’s is there, Wayne chilling. Super chill vibe, and my OG BFF Braydon Szafranski (pro skater) walks up to Wayne daps him up and says “I want you meet my friend Erik Hamamoto” and Wayne’s like” pssshh! HAMAMOTO!! I Fucks with HAMAMOTO!” And from there on he introduced me to his fam like “This is Hamamoto!” That’s one thing I never thought would come from skateboarding, so that taught me to just do what your heart tells you! Everything you’ve ever wanted is waiting for you.

Dave Chappelle

So after a long weekend of throwing our selves down rails and stair sets, Braydon and I would often frequent a spot called “Hyde” that’s right next door to the “Laugh factory”. So one night we leave Hyde around 1am, and as we walk out the door man says to us “Dave Chapelle is next door, and has basically crashed the show and is doing an impromptu set.” So we’re like fuck yeah and run in. We sit and the only 2 chairs available, dead center, and the second we sit down, Dave pauses and looks and Braydon and says “Holly shit! Billy idol just walk in!!” (And for those who don’t know Braydon, look him up. IG: @braydonsza). At the time Braydon looked surprisingly just like a Billy Idol look alike, so everyone just erupted with uncontrollable laughter! So Dave carries on for another 30 minutes, kills it, and everyone gave him a standing ovation! He walks through the crowd and gives everyone a hug and hand shake what ever. I proceed to slip him a medical marijuana tube, he looks at it and says “There’s no way I’m getting this on the plane!” Looks at me, gives me a wink 😉, and puts it in his pocket. Daps me up and disappeared. I was like This dude is so G!”

Big Boi (of Outkast)

So one evening I was talked into going to a “party” with my homie and this female he was just starting to see. She invited us to a GHB kick back, but at that time the only thing I had heard of GHB was on the news, so in my mind I hear “date rape party”. I was very hesitant to go, but my homie was like ” don’t trip! It’s gonna be all girls, trust me!” So out of curiosity I decided to at least check it out. So I get my self ready and we hop in a cab. We arrive to the destination which is located on the sunset strip. We cruise up stairs, walk in and there literally 5 people in total, the one female that invited us, one massive body builder looking guy, three other males, two of which were clearly already feeling the effects of the GHB, and her “best friend” who was this male model looking fella. I take one look and immediately say “I’m gonna grab some cigs from the store” and B-line for the door. So I start walking home, half way there I hear someone yelling “Axl Rose!! Yo Axl! What’s good Axl rose!!” And I approach Black Escalade with the back window cracked like half way and he’s still laughing and yelling “What’s up Axl Rose!” So I’m kinda ticked off at this point, he’s being very condescending so I approach the vehicle and the window comes down and low and behold it’s “BIG BOI” from Outkast! Who at the time was my favorite rapper calling me Axl Rose, my favorite rockstars of all time! I learned that no matter what you have to go for it! You’ll always end up with something amazing happening that had nothing to with why you’re actually there!

Ozzy Osbourne

I was acquaintances with Kelly Osbourne; we became friends through a few mutual friends. I was invited to watch her performance for “Dancing With The Stars”. Her dad was there as well. I remember him chilling cracking jokes and giggling the whole time, except for when Kelly danced. He sat silent and all I saw was a proud father. So after the performance we all chilled in the green room and Ozzy’s hyped for Kelly and we’re all chillin’ and Ozzy looks to me and says “What kind of shades are those?” I proceed to tell him “happy hour” shades and we chatted about them a bit. What I later realized is no matter how much money you have, no matter how famous you are, none of it matters with out friends and family. Also it’s way cooler to be nice to people than to stuck up and a dick.

Thee Who Shall Not Be Named

This one I can’t name names, but it was a pair of very famous siblings one of which at the time was going hard in the paint! Public getting smashed and new papers and tabloids spoke about it so on and so forth. Long story short: We’re chilling downtown NYC and I hear a knock on the door and a delivery guy is at the door with like 100 cans of whip cream. At the time I was baffled. I had no idea what the cans of whip cream were for. Once the delivery guy left the madness ensued. They started popping these cans of whip cream like it was the 4th of July!! Obviously they were doing rich people’s version of a whip it’s. They proceed to take dozens of Polaroid pictures of them huffing whip cream cans with whip cream all over their faces and clothes. I feel like I have never lived after partying with America royalty. But what I did take away was that life is too short to always be serious. Live life and it will work out its self out.

[Music Video] Novaspace feat. Alina Eremia – Out of My Mind

If you’re like most people, you’re not listening to the calendar that says Fall is here. For all intents and purposes, it’s still Summer, so we’ve got a Summer track for you. “Out Of My Mind” by Novaspace and Alina Eremia is just what you need to keep the season going. Not only do we have the song, but we have a sunny music video for it too!

“Out Of My Mind” is a bright future pop single, pushing vocal chops together with airy synth structures. Alina’s performance on this is spectacular and has a certain edge to it that makes it stick out. Novaspace did a number on this one. As fun as the track is, the music video is even funner. Both share a simplicity to them that makes them go down smooth.

[Music Video] DENM – Bless Your Heart

Let DENM “Bless Your Heart” with his new single. With the single comes a cool lyric video that isn’t your typical words on a blank screen type. Instead a full on music video was made with the lyrics animated over them. It makes for a much funner watch than the usual lyric clips.

“Bless Your Heart” is a vibrant R&B crossover single that pulls out all the stops for a great record. It’s got a whole lot of groove thanks to the bubbling percussion and each vocal on the track is captivating. DENM gets your attention quick and holds your focus getting you to sing along to the song during your first listen. The video as we stated before is a cool, simple and entertaining addition to the track. Get your copy of it today.

Moncrieff – Symptoms [TMN VIDEO PREMIERE]

For a debut release, “Symptoms” is one hell of a first look. Soulful, bluesy, and larger than life, it immidiately grabs a hold, refusing to let you go.

This is the first experience I’ve had with Moncrieff, and I’m sure some of you are in the same boat. Yet, it shouldn’t take you more than thirty seconds before you realize that you’ll soon be hearing more and more of this London-based raconteur.

“Symptoms” certainly displays an anthemic nature, one which alludes to sync deals lining up around the block. Set to the backdrop of haunting guitar riffs, big, booming percussion, and rhythmic claps, it’s a genuine thrill ride through-and-through. While the instrumentals are immensely powerful, they wouldn’t be as impactful without the most engaging part of this experience — the god damn vocals. Lyrics, resonance, and vocal tone combined — they’re just so, so good.

Symptoms is essentially a song for people who’s only religion is for making bad decisions”. There is something irresistible about being in a slightly unpredictable relationship. Somehow the highs and good times seem so much more vivid and defined. Not good for your health on many different levels but that doesn’t stop people from choosing it.

Though the track has been out for a month now, we’re bringing you the first look at the accompanying music video. Taking inspiration from Quentin Tarantino and neo-noir films, both of which have influenced Moncreiff’s songwriting, it’s as thrilling as the track itself. Which, says quite a bit.

Before you dive in, though, please note that he has two live shows coming up, which you should really check out, if you can swing it.

Malena Zavala – If It Goes [TMN PREMIERE]

This is, admittedly, the first time I’ve heard anything from Argentinian-born Malena Zavala, but it only took one spin through “If It Goes” to hook me in for the long haul.

Following up on her last single, “Should I Try,” this alluring songstress is offering up her newest single via your favorite neighborhood music blogger. “If It Goes” is a positively enchanting number, complete with soft, Latin guitar work, and subtle, humming basslines. Malena’s verses call on associations of early Lana Del Rey, showcasing a seductive style from the get go. Yet, as dreamy as those words are, paired up with luscious guitar notes, it’s her falsetto in the chorus that really gets me. I’m pretty sure you’ll agree.

Aside from a bevy on influences, including one of my all-time favorites, Devendra Banhart, this song was inspired mainly by her mother.

The song connects me to my South American roots through my mothers’ Latino feminine character which she passed down to me. That fire is one of my only perceptions of my roots and I had a definite fear of losing that growing up in a different country/ in a different culture. It wouldn’t be me if I lost it.

If you’re enjoying this tune as much as I am, I highly recommend heading out and supporting her live show.

Kai Straw – Cherry Corvette [TMN Premiere]

Kai Straw is set to release his album very soon. Toothpick was incredible, but given the recent singles from GUN, we’re expecting an even better LP this time around. The last single has hit the web today and you’ll be hearing it first here in the dojo. Let’s take a ride in “Cherry Corvette” shall we?

One thing I particularly enjoy about a lot of Kai’s music is that it tells a story. “Cherry Corvette” paints a vibrant picture with its lyrics despite the general tone of the song being much more chill and mysterious. Kai delivers a tasteful single that will usher us into the Fall in style. You’d be mistaken to miss out on this one. “Cherry Corvette” is out today in full, so if you’d like a copy you can grab one now from digital stores or add it to your playlist!

[Trap] Black Tiger Sex Machine x YOOKiE – Lions

Black Tiger Sex Machine come together with YOOKiE for a monumental bass track called “Lions” that comes with the announcement of the next BTSM album. Safe to say today is a big day for the trio who have released the single on their label Kannibalen Records.

“Lions” is an orchestral bass anthem, showcasing BTSM’s usual intrigue alongside YOOKiE’s iconic sub-bass growls. I can only imagine how this song gets received when BTSM or YOOKiE drops it on the Midnight Terror tour that is currently underway. BTSM’s next album will be coming – when? We can’t be too sure, but we don’t mind waiting around as long as “Lions” is here with us. Get your ears ready for some heavy bass and get your copy of the single today.

[Trap] Clips X Ahoy & Egzod ft. KLA – Everything

Get those trap arms ready because “Everything” is here. The collaboration between the producers Clips X Ahoy and Egzod has just that, everything. A super vocal from KLA, monstrous basslines, catchy melodies and more. It’s so good in fact that Insomniac Events has chosen it as their song of the day.

“Everything” feels like two tracks in one. It starts out with a trapstyle drop, but doesn’t deliver you the typical dirty south screeches that a lot of producers of the genre push. Instead, Clips X Ahoy and Egzod drops some heat with their unique sounds and then continue that into a totally different area the second half of the song. We won’t give it away, but we know you’ll enjoy it.

[Pop] Rhys – Too Good To Be True

“Too Good To Be True” by Rhys is simply amazing. The Stockholm starlet just released this original to the world and she’s got us hooked. Beautiful and moving, “Too Good To Be True” is an undoubted gem.

Rhys captivates with her performance on this that is really the highlight of the track, which says something given the quality of the production. In regards to the instrumental we get a tropical infused dancehall/moombah vibe that will get you swaying back and forth to the beat. It’s certainly catchy, but Rhys takes charge with her soaring vocal that will give you chills. You’ll definitely want to grab a copy of this one from iTunes. It’s a keeper.

[Electronic] Campsite Dream – Smooth Operator

Campsite Dream are back at it again with another original single. Released on Epic Amsterdam, “Smooth Operator” is just as it describes itself, smooth. CD continue with their cool signature, but bring it to a new sonic arena.

With “Smooth Operator” we see Campsite Dream bring some influence from future bass to the table, with rising synths and poppy vocal chops. In speaking of vocal chops, we also must mention the outstanding vocal performance on the track that allowed for any chopping to occur. This is one of those songs you’ll be singing and dancing along to in no time. As stated before, “Smooth Operator” is out now in full, so you can get a copy for you digital library.

White Room – Cable Built Dreamland [TMN PREMIERE]

“Cable Built Dreamland” is a trippy walk back, past a couple of decades, landing squarely on the corner of Haight and Ashbury sometime in the late 60s. Crunchy guitar riffs are paired perfectly with soaring basslines, and radio-friendly choruses, making whoever is enjoying this audible trip through the space-time continuum want to sprawl out on the floor with a tasty joint, a hoppy IPA, and some top-notch speakers. In fact, when I’m done writing this, I might do just that.

Until then, I will let you know that this peach of a track is coming to you via fresh, new indie rockers, White Room and the fine people at Deltasonic Records (The Coral, Vryll Society). It’s the latest offering from their upcoming EP, Eight, which I’m eagerly waiting to dig into further after hearing this gem.

As I mentioned before, it definitely bubbles up with influences from well beyond these lads times. Yet, as much as it beckons on an entirely different era of music, it maintains plenty of modern pop sensibility that could very well swing some youngsters into exploring their grandparent’s vinyl collection in the basement. And, for that, I’d like to offer up a profuse message of gratitude. It’s not every day an act can pull off a decade-transcending feat like “Cable Built Dreamland” does.

If you’re digging this tune, I’m guessing you’ll dig their live show. Find a date below and go pick up some tickets.

[Future] SoDown & Moontricks – With You (feat. Carly Lynn)

Since it’s origin the future beat genre has quickly spread into all types of music. At the same time I think we’ve seen less artists embrace that og future beat style and pick up on the original idea to move it forward. But I just came across this new song, “With You” where SoDown and Moontricks throw down what’s now an almost classic electronic sound. The breakdown is a highlight and might remind you of an early Odezza. At the same time they bring in Carly Lynn, who’s modern vocal style takes “With You” to another level and gives it a very forward-thinking sound.

[House] Two Friends Ft. Kevin Writer – While We’re Dreaming

There’s no stopping Two Friends. The lively duo are back with another original single on SOURCE. “While We’re Dreaming” features Kevin Writer and is fit with the duo’s iconic upbeat sound.

Two Friends really did something cool with this single offering up a sound that isn’t something we hear regularly. To describe this song as fun would simply be an understatement as it is jam packed with light-hearted energy and fervor. The song’s structure sees things growing from beginning to end, adding in elements to keep the listener far from becoming dulled. It’s certainly a dreamy track and we hope you enjoy it as much as we do. Grab your copy today.

[Electronic] Mayten – Hive

“Hive” is a unique single that has come through the Dance and Rave pipeline from Mayten. Music is supposed to move an individual and that’s what we get here with a record that seems to come alive itself.

Mayten rains down a lush array of melodies through clean synth work. Despite it’s strong house elements and percussion, “Hive” almost feels as though it’s an ambient record, building a soundscape that feels as though it is encompassing you. It makes for an intriguing listen that you can put on repeat without losing steam for some time. Mayten’s minimal treat is just the right kind of record you want for your Fall playlists, so make sure to grab a copy from Beatport if you want it in your library.

[Indie/Electronic] Madnap – Honey (feat. Sophie Meiers)

Madnap‘s latest release “Honey” is just as sweet as you’d imagine. Created with the help of vocalist Sophie Meiers, “Honey” is an indie dance crossover jam that will sooth your soul instantly.

The push for the future pop sound has exploded over the past couple of years with so many producers looking to dial in on the sound, but not all do it as well as Madnap, especially here. “Honey” really nails it, but not only because it implements the style so well, but because it isn’t so strict within the sub-genre. Madnap made it his own in a big way, which is the key to making a great record no matter the style. “Honey” is a must have, so get your copy from digital platforms today.

[Music Video] Stafford Brothers- Love Cliche

The Stafford Brothers really went wild with their latest music video. The song “Love Cliche” sees them back in action after holding out a bit from releases. They’ve come back in full force bringing with them an homage to 1983’s Flashdance.

“Love Cliche” as a song is a poppy crossover tune that sees the duo going away from some of the bigger party style sounds they’ve pushed in the past. With the video, we get the usual craziness that the Stafford Brothers have utilized in the past. They keep things light and funny, drawing directly from the aforementioned film. Check out the video below and enjoy the wicked dance moves.

[Rap] Scarlxrd- 6 Feet

Today we have a new track from UK artist Scarlxrd called “6 Feet”. From hearing Scar for the first time you can tell he falls in the category of rappers like XXXtentacion who have been inspired by other genres of music besides rap. Even with his screaming on most of his tracks you can still coherently understand the lyrics unlike other artists.

Throughout his Soundcloud Scar categories his music as Trap Metal, with heavy bass and hi-hats along with his shrieking yells his music reminds me of early Slipknot, XXXtentacion and even early Linkin Park. In the song he talks about how he’s still standing strong after being through the worst things in life. As the song goes on Scar talks about how he bottles his hatred inside; he has no tears left and he loses himself when he’s high. He even talked about leaving the love of his life though he hopes she dies.

I enjoy Scar’s music because it connects to a part in everyone that is mad at the world and depressed. But with his great production from a multitude of different producers, his lyrics which are still clear even with his Corey Taylor-esque yelling, Scar will be able to carve a core audience that will be loyal to him and his music. I suggest you look at his music videos which are very enjoyable and different. On his Soundcloud he says LXRDSZN is coming soon, whether it’s a mixtape or a full album I can’t wait to see what it entails and I hope he comes to the United States to tour.

[Hip-Hop] Lil Uzi Vert- Luv is Rage 2 (Album Review)

Today I review the newest project released by Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert a sequel to his Luv is Rage album from 2015. Luv is Rage was the first project I listened to by Uzi and since then I’ve been a fan, with his songs being used in commercials and his popularity skyrocketing he has positioned himself to be the frontrunner of this new generation of rappers.

With the release of the first single XO Tour Life it made fans that much more excited for the release of Luv is Rage 2. To me this album didn’t really live up to the hype that “XO Tour Life” gave fan but I was hopeful. Even though some tracks didn’t interest me much, Uzi shows that he continues to grow both as an artist and a person.

One subject he brings up a lot in this album is the deterioration of his relationship with his girlfriend Brittany. She has been an inspiration for his music ever since 2014 now both have separated and Uzi is moving forward, he shows this on the track titled “X”. Produced by Pi’erre Bourne who also produced Playboi Carti’s “Magnolia”, Uzi talks about him not wanting Brittany anymore not knowing what the future holds for him when he raps,
“I don’t know what’s next/ I don’t want my ex, no/ Break up with a text/ I’m not tryna flex/ Girl you know the rest (bye, bye, hoe)”

He continues talking about his heartbreak when he raps,

“Yeah, my life’s a mess/ But I’m also blessed/ My heart’s in the junkyard cause it’s wrecked/ And today’s not feeling like it’s used to/ You got stuck up in that life that you used to/ If you got hurt, yeah, I got bruised to”

I like how these lyrics show that Uzi was so close to Brittany that if she was hurt he would feel it almost like they were identical twins. He showed that this relationship has taken a tole on him saying that he was a wreck. Even before this track was released their relationship was always up in the air when Uzi got more successful. There were rumors that they had broken up in 2015 but then Uzi let everyone know they were back together again. But I guess there came a breaking point and he had had enough. As the track continues Uzi compares himself to Leonardo Dicaprio saying he can take any guys girl and that he has girls in his phone who look like New New, a character from the movie ATL. He continues to talk about his heartbreak and how he’ll get over it in the song “The Way Life Goes”.

This track surprised me because it wasn’t full of bass, hi-hats and autotuned mumbling like most standard Uzi track but instead we have a melodic, chill vibe and not that much autotune on his voice. He raps about how much he cared for Brittany and because of the heartbreak he tried to fill that hole with another girl when he raps,

“Wish I never ever ever told you things/ I was only only trying to show you things/ Iced out heart on your neck trying to froze your ring/ I had to get me a new bitch to hold the pain/ We was in Hawaii looking at the ring/ She was smiling happy but I’m laughing cause her man a lame”
Even though Uzi found a replacement for Brittany, he doesn’t have the same feelings for her. While she’s over the moon happy having the ring on her finger Uzi is laughing because he knows that the girls real partner is lame and isn’t as wealthy as Uzi. For the chorus of the song Uzi uses the first verse the song Landslide by Oh Wonder, a London pop band. The chorus says,

“I know it hurts sometimes but you’ll get over it/ You’ll find another life to live/ I swear that you’ll get over it/ I know you’re sad and tired / You’ve got nothing left to give/ You’ll find another life to live/ I know that you’ll get over it”
This chorus perfectly describes Uzi’s feelings now that his relationship is now over. This song will be used by every heartbroken guy or girl for years to song. I wouldn’t be surprised if you heard this song be the next radio single for Uzi. Finally the song that I enjoyed the most and have been singing and listening to repeat since I first heard it “Neon Guts”.

On the track it is both featuring and being produced by Skateboard P, Pharrell. I was so excited when I saw this track because Uzi went on Pharrell’s Apple Radio show and posted a picture together on Instagram thus making my mouth water thinking of what a track with the two artist would be like and damn they did not disappoint. This song changed the dim outlook Uzi was having because of his ex and did a 180 to become happy and hype at the same time. Both P and Uzi are very colorful people and have always been considered “weird” by the hip-hop community because of their fashion choices rather than their music. But with these guys on one track, I never knew I wanted a Uzi/Pharrell collab album but I do now and I hope they do it. On the track itself both talk about their colorful personalities and how that they don’t let “dark energy” effect them.

Overall this album was good but it’s not Uzi’s best work. Even with these tracks I talked about that will garner praise from both Uzi fans and critics, there are some tracks on this album that you can skip and you won’t miss anything. If you want to hear the progression of Uzi I encourage you to listen to the first Luv is Rage and compare the two. Continuing on the sequels of albums, it’s rumored that Uzi is working on Lil Uzi vs The World 2 so I will be excited to see what Uzi has working on even after dropping this project.

Disappointment is a bummer, so we’ll try not to get your hopes up by telling you how awesome each song is. We’ll just let you figure that one out for yourself. We realize we can’t please everyone, but we’re also pretty confidant an Indie Dojo or two will work it’s way into your hearts eventually.

Cody Lovaas – Bodies (Roseville Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Let’s start Monday off right the premiere of a brand new single. A remix by Chicago’s own Roseville of “Bodies” by Cody Lovaas is what we’ve got in the dojo today. You’re getting a first listen to its distinct future sound.

“Bodies” in its new form is characterized by a future tinged production with hints of influence from trap. It’s hybrid sound is what makes it so spectacular. Sometimes when people mix genres, they don’t do either justice and with this one Roseville was able to take the best parts of each and amplify them together. There’s plenty more where the style came from as you can see from the intro and bridge. Take a listen and enjoy the medley of sounds in the first peak at Roseville’s most recent remix.

[Electronic] JETSET – Mayday EP

When JETSET was releasing singles over the last month, I thought I had the direction of the EP pinned down. To my surprise, JETSET went a very different way, accenting his previously released singles with unique instrumentals that are more orchestral than electronic.

Mayday has been released as a group of free downloads. His heavier tracks like “Bloke Patrol” and “Sawed Off” are the real party starters, with dirty basses that will blow any crowd away. Throughout the EP JETSET adds in instrumentation that is more like something you’d hear from a composer, showing off songwriting abilities that go beyond many producers. To cap off the EP, he mixes the two styles evenly with “Finale” featuring jvnk. Mayday is a testament to what producers should be doing – creating unique works of art instead of just doing what other people are doing.

[Multi-Genre] Parker – Spark EP

Parker‘s debut EP, Spark, is finally here. Complete with five songs, Spark shows off just some of the sounds that make up Parker. Instead of creating an aimless collection of tracks like many producers do, Parker put together a cohesive, fluid EP that is incredible.

Spark begins with the poppy trap record “Home” featuring Oh Boy that sets the tone nicely for the rest of the project. There’s a little heavy edge so you know you’ll get some more bass in the project, which comes next in full force on the title track. After that “Shy” flips the script with a more heavenly, light sound. The rest of the EP follows suit with a brighter tone that continues through different genres. All in all it’s an amazing EP with our favorite track being “Wild” with Lost Boy. Can you pick a favorite? Let us know in the comments and get your copy of the EP.

[Moombahton] ShiShi – Look Me In The Eye (Feat. BAER)

The producer ShiShi has been all around the world growing up. With that being known it should come as no surprise that his music has influences from all across continents. Just take his new song “Look Me In The Eye” featuring BAER as an example.

From the get-go you feel as though you’re not going to get the typical music experience. BAER’s infectious performance is beyond fantastic, leading the track forward from the start with grace. ShiShi already has the dembow going, but moves to full on moombah with the drop. He brings his own flash and flair to the song, establishing his own space within the genre. He doesn’t keep things quite so straightforward either, so have a listen and see where ShiShi takes you. Want a copy of the song? Grab it here today.

[Electronic] Autolaser – Naikira

“Naikira” by Autolaser has just come through the bitbird pipeline straight to the internet. This atmospheric gem is just what you need to kick off the week right. Let it whisk you away from the worries of the week that has just begun.

Autolaser put together quite an iconic record with this single. It’s not hard to imagine this one being played in a blockbuster film as it has an immensely powerful and memorable sound. “Naikira” is currently available on digital platforms for those of you who would like to get a copy or add it to your playlist! However, it will also be included on bitbird’s Gouldian Finch 02 compilation that is coming out on October 5th.

[Gotta Be] Fresh Coat Mural Festival – LA Arts District – 10/7

We’re gearing up for another trip out to LA. This time, we’ll be hitting up the inagural Fresh Coat Mural Festival, which is hitting the streets of DTLA on October 7th. A beautiful blend of art, music, food, and drinks, this brand spankin’ new block party has something for just about everyone.

Legendary local and national street artists Drew Merritt, Breeze, Vyal, It’s a living, Axis, Carley Ealey, Andrew Hem, and OG Slick will be taking over walls in the Arts District, serving up incredible, live street art for everyone who comes down. On top of that, there are local, curated food trucks from LA dishing out tasty bites, alongside of brews from Angel City Brewing and hand-crafted cocktails featuring Hansen’s Soda.

As if that wasn’t reason enough for you to head down, there’s also a top-notch musical lineup. The day kicks off with old school, hip-hop icons, The Beat Junkies, followed by Peanut Butter Wolf and The Hood Internet. Rounding out the bill are a handful of TMN favorites. Viceroy, who was one of our Resident Artists here at TMN, and the ever-so-chill Poolside. The cherry on top? RJD2 will be closing out the night. We’ve admittedly never seen him live, so you’ll find us front and center as soon as he takes the decks.

The best thing about this fest? It’s free. That’s right. The organizers, The Container Yard and Hansen’s Soda have you covered. All you have to do is RSVP and you’re good to go.

Point Point – Hands feat. Denai Moore (R.O Remix) [TMN Premiere]

Point Point‘s single “Hands” featuring Denai Moore was a sonic treat that we, along with many others, fell in love with. Now the producer has brought on a few remixers to take on the original, including R.O. Today we’ve got the premiere of his take on “Hands” in the dojo.

R.O keeps a similar poppy style to the original, but strips down some of the more future elements. What makes this remix particularly special is the fact that R.O keeps it developing from beginning to end, never leaving you back where you already came from. It’s a great minimal flip that is recognizable to the original. R.O knocked this one out of the park without a doubt. Enjoy this one thoroughly over the weekend!

[House] Chris Lake & Chris Lorenzo – Nothing Better

Insomniac Records just may have dropped the hottest track on their catalog so far. Aptly named “Nothing Better” by Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo, is a historic house record. They nailed everything you look for in an extraordinary song.

“Nothing Better” is no doubt a timeless record despite just dropping today. No matter the release date, it would succeed as a monumental piece of musical art. It’s got some classic undertones that will grab the attention of veteran dance music fans, while bringing in some new flavors for the recently initiated. Catchy and energetic, “Nothing Better” makes a statement with its name and quality. Get your copy of the single from digital stores today.

Hoody Time – KNOCK [TMN Premiere]

The New Zealand resident hip-hop head Hoody Time is back in the dojo. To kick off the end of the week we’re presenting his newest single “KNOCK” in this premiere. Not only do we have that, but we have a little bonus content for you from camp Hoody Time.

“KNOCK” is a fun track even by Hoody Time standards. He always cooks up off-the-wall tracks that are lively and exciting, but here he gets a bit “goofy” as he states in his own words. The track was produced by Public, aka Justin Manas the former drummer of Stray From The Path. Hoody Time is always a good time, as you’ll see from “KNOCK” as well as the music video for his single “Backpack.” Take some time to experience each and stay tuned for more from Hoody Time!

[Music Video] LEViT∆TE & Macntaj – Pins & Needles

“Pins & Needles” takes from LEViT∆TE & Macntaj takes us one step closer to the treasure. What is the treasure you might ask? It’s LEViT∆TE’s highly anticipated EP, Omni. As a visionary producer, LEViT∆TE will blow people away with this project and he’s already got started.

With now hearing the second single from the EP, we’re getting an idea of where things are going for this and we’re excited. “Pins & Needles” is a smash, with a lovable abrasiveness to its style. Not only do we get to hear the track before the EP comes, but we’ve got a striking blood red music video to go along with. Together they pack a mean punch. Check out the video below and grab a copy of the single from digital stores today.

[R&B/Soul] Little Monarch – No Matter What (starRo Remix)

We’re fairly confident that no matter what you will like this starRO remix. Little Monarch’s single “No Matter What” got a smooth makeover from the Los Angeles resident. His soulful R&B remix is just the perfect thing you need to help get you to the weekend and celebrate properly.

Let’s dive into the track by stating simply that starRO just nailed it, 100%. Instead of focusing on the energy the original had, starRO slowed things down and got a bit more groovy with his take. The original’s material is instantly recognizable, but even for those who love Little Monarch’s version, they’ll be blown away by this one. Have a listen and stay sexy.

from The Music Ninja http://ift.tt/2hmpR46

[Electronic] CADE – I Know You Know feat. TK Kravitz

You may not know the name CADE, but we know you’ll know now. If you do know the name, it may be from his collaboration on the remix of “Pretty Girls” with Cheat Codes. Now CADE is here with TK Kravitz on the original single “I Know You Know.”

With this original we get a healthy dose of a few genres. House, pop and hip-hop collide in one smooth single that will be taking over playlists for a long time to come. It’s catchy in every regard, but not in the typical cookie-cutter boring as hell way. Instead CADE puts together something we’d likely hear from a seasoned veteran to take over the radio. CADE’s just getting started and someday may be that seasoned veteran taking over the radio.

[Electronic] French Braids – Wildfire (feat. Frankmusik)

Let’s heat things up with “Wildfire” from French Braids and Frankmusik. The Canadian producer just dropped his first original single and it’s just as hot as you would imagine.

French Braids has released a handful of remixes in the past and even though he’s made them his own, we haven’t seen him fully shine on his own yet. Frankmusik helped take “Wildfire” to the next level, but French Braid really nailed it with this one. The electro pop sound is highly accessible to multiple crowds, giving French Braid the opportunity to make some major moves quickly. With enough time this producer will be a go-to for the more tropical, poppy side of dance music.

[Hip-Hop] Julia Lewis- On The Regular (W/EluJay, Mr. Carmack, Mikos Da Gawd)

“On The Regular” is the newest track from Bay area producer Julia Lewis who collaborated with producers Mr. Carmack and Mikos Da Gawd. EluJay, an Oakland rapper who, with his laid back style of lyricism, works perfectly with Lewis’ production. The beat itself will carry over any sound system with its pleasing island vibe which makes it the perfect track for the waning days of Summer. Make sure to get this one for that final Summer time pool party playlist before it gets too cold outside. If you enjoyed this track as much as I did you will be ecstatic to know that this is the first of a series of releases between Lewis and EluJay. They didn’t disappoint with this one so I will be patiently waiting for their other releases to come out.

Sleep Millennium – Machines [TMN VIDEO PREMIERE]

After a long, arduous week, I often find myself slipping into a neat glass of whiskey, winding down with a choice selection of tunes. Sometimes the atmosphere lends itself to the dreary nature of the preceding days, which, coincidentally, seems to bring me up and out of my work-induced haze.

Among the usual cast — Nick Drake, Pink Floyd, Elliot Smith — there are always a spattering of up and coming acts, and Sleep Millennium is one of them. If you’re not quite up to speed with this Portland-based five-piece, don’t panic. You’ll be well acquainted after today.

“Machines” is the latest offering from Josh Schroeder (vocals, guitar), Miranda Vettrus (synth, guitar, vocals), Ronan Baker (guitar, vocals), Jarred Venti (bass, vocals) and Joshua Hawkins (drums, vocals). As expected, this offering is absolutely gorgeous; a well-thought out and well-produced gem through and through.

With crackling atmospheric noise and dancing keys setting the tone at the get-go, “Machine” subtly comes out of a deep slumber. Soft, acoustic strumming and Josh’s enveloping vocals are warm and familiar, however, the addition of sparingly-used, piercing, electric guitar riffs particularly grabbed a hold of me. In fact, I couldn’t help but notice the nod to Pink Floyd here, whether it was intentional or subconscious.

If you’re digging “Machines,” make sure to tune in for the rest of the debut full album, which officially releases in April of 2018.

[House] AC Slater – All About Paper (feat. Bassboy & Scrufizzer)

Why people don’t fuse hip-hop and house more, we have no idea. We’re glad AC Slater caught up with Bassboy and Scrufizzer for the crossover single “All About Paper” though. The fast-paced single will be released in full on AC Slater’s upcoming album, Outsiders, that is currently available for pre-order on iTunes.

“All About Paper” has a whole lot going on in it. From tech to industrial to hip-hop, Ac Slater’s influences are numerous in this one. Sometimes it’s hard to seal your influences together under one project but the veteran did so with ease and energy. This song is about as hype as you get, filling the listener with energy as though it were a stimulating drug. If the rest of the album is anything like this, then look out for AC Slater to be in the top albums of 2017 for sure.

[Future Bass] KRANE – Nobody But You

KRANE has quickly established himself as one of the top producers in dance music. He may not boast the incredible social numbers of some, but his day will certainly come. His upcoming album is sure to be a giant stepping stone in an already fruitful career.

Recently KRANE dropped “Nobody But You” as the second single off his LP. With it we get an emotionally complex future bass original that feels larger than life. One thing KRANE manages to do with each of his tracks is make them feel as though they are alive. Producers can make bangers all they want, but KRANE’s music – even when it is a banger – is full of life. It’s no wonder audiences have connected with him so quickly. “Nobody But You” is currently available on digital stores if you’d like a copy.

“Through the process of putting everything together, I was in somewhat of a nostalgic and dark frame of mind, and I wanted to leverage that mood. I really wanted to reference the kind of imagery, film, TV I have grown up loving- the likes of Ridley Scott, and dystopian anime, like Akira.”

[House] Panski – #ARoadLessTraveled EP

Country music is not something you see in the dojo often, if ever. However, a producer coming out of Atlanta by the name of Panski is bringing some influence from the genre to house music. You might be thinking “WTF!?” but just stay with us because you’ll be pleasantly surprised by his new EP, #ARoadLessTraveled.

Complete with four tracks, including a cover/remix of “Soak Up The Sun” by Sheryl Crow. Together they push forward Panski’s signature Southern House sound. The only thing close that comes to mind is some of Avicii’s work, but Panski takes things his own route to a whole new level. With instrumentation taken from the not-so-shitty pop heavy country music, Panski taps into something new to make himself stand out above the rest. We think you’ll like this just as much as we do, but don’t trip, you won’t have to tell people you like country music.

[Multi-Genre] Tiigers – Belial/Takedown

The Italian duo Tiigers recently dropped two heaters through MA Music. Their ferocious A/B side project is good step in the right direction and happens to be one their debut EP. Coming off a free download a couple months ago, this is the duo’s first official release.

“Belial” comes in as the A-side track, pushing forth a hybrid bass sound mixing trap with heavier elements of dubstep. It really showcases where Tiigers can go with their sound. “Takedown” shifts the sound a bit to the house realm, delivering an electro single. Although the song takes you through another sound, it centers upon the electro style that brought so many into dance music. Stream both today and grab a copy of the EP from digital stores.

[Dubstep] Al Ross – Boneless

There is a whole lot going on for team Buygore. They have releases coming all the time and have expanded with the creation of FrshBlood, a sub-imprint focused on names in bass music that need highlighting. One of those names is Al Ross, who dropped his single “Boneless” as a free download through the label to celebrate his signing to their roster.

“Boneless” is a gut-wrenching dubstep track that will leave you shaken to your core. Heavy isn’t even the half of it with this immense single that should come with a warning stamp. Perhaps the fact that FrshBlood released this one is warning enough; this sort of earth-shaking sound is to be expected from their catalog. Speaking of catalog, theirs is set to grow with the coming of their third compilation this October 10th. In honor of the compilation release there will be a FrshBlood showcase party at the Belasco in Los Angeles the following day. Don’t miss out on it, get your tickets today!

mAsis – Choices/Burdens [TMN Premiere]

After supporting several records from the mAsis duo, we’re happy to premiere their latest single! Their original “Choices/Burdens” can be heard here in the dojo first. We couldn’t pass up sharing such a beautiful track with you as the seasons begin to change.

From the start we’re hit with a strong vocal that spearheads the song. We then move slowly into the beat, with soft tones entering the picture. Things build into a cerebral scene that you can’t help but to immerse yourself in fully. It’s a touching record that shows off the duo’s tasteful sound. Stream the track today and make sure to get a copy from digital stores.

Vilde – Just Visiting [TMN VIDEO PREMIERE]

I’ve been enamored with the quirky, unpredictable, and off-the-beaten path Vilde since April, when I had the opportunity to premiere “Maintain.” Today, I find myself in another dreamy trance, completely encompassed by unconventional, yet rather irresistible offerings from this Melbourne-born, Stockholm-based artist.

The combination of distortion-rich basslines, fluttering synths, and clean guitar work set the perfect backdrop for Vilde’s inventive vocals, welcoming listeners into another piece of his debut collection, Study Dance. As much as it is calming, “Just Visiting” is equally engaging, presenting a weird set of emotions throughout the ride. My advice? Just sit back and succomb. It’s an otherworldly experience.

This track wraps up the collection, which you can check out here. If you happen to be in London on November 17th, you should definitely head over to the Sebright Arms for his live show.

[Video] EC Twins Share Their Touching Story In Homeless To Headliners

The EC Twins have been through some hardships to get where they are today. Usually what you see from artists is them painting their perfect lifestyle all over social media, but that’s not the case and it certainly wasn’t that glamorous before they blew up most often times.

In a short documentary, EC Twins highlight their rise from being homeless. Their aptly named piece, Homeless To Headliners, breaks the mold of perfection that most artists portray. It’s nice to see people stepping out to inspire others. Check out the video below, and if you’re someone trying to attain your dreams through hardship, it can be done. This is just one of many stories!

Get To Know FLTHY ANMLZ Before Everyone Else Does [TMN Interview + Mix]

Bass music is here to stay. The ever-evolving blanket genre has been expanding into new territories for as long as we can remember. There are so many talented new artists coming to the fold, but we’ve got our eyes and ears on FLTHY ANMLZ.

To help you get familiar, we brought these bass-loving boys into the dojo to answer some questions. On top of that, they’ve brought an exclusive mix to the table for everyone to enjoy. With it we get thirty minutes of jaw-dropping bass. Some of that is made up by tracks from FLTHY ANMLZ themselves. Let’s get down to business and see what FLTHY ANMLZ is all about and where they came from.

TMN: What got you each into music? How did you end up together as FLTHY ANMLZ?

FA: We’ve been really good friends since 7th grade and after High School we both really got into DJing and going to Electronic Music Shows. We were so hooked on the scene that we had to take the next step and try our hands at producing our own stuff. We both did our own thing for a little while but as time went on we discovered we had very similar tastes and started producing a lot together. Soon after we started playing together and eventually we just decided that two heads are better than one and why not produce and DJ together.

TMN: How did you come up with your name?

FA: A lot of our very first remixes, flips, etc. had samples from the original Home Alone movie. The part where Kevin uses the old movie to talk to the pizza guy. We sampled the part where it says, “keep the change ya filthy animal!” and used it numerous times in different works. We liked it so much and it fit our style so well we decided to name our project after it.. FLTHY ANMLZ was born.

TMN: If you could sum up your sound in 3 words, what would they be?

FA: Filthy Hybrid Bass

TMN: If you could collaborate with any artists, who would you pick?

There’s so many amazing artists we’d love to work with. But just to name a few: LUMBERJVCK, JPhlepz, BTSM, WOOLYMAMMOTH, Holly, G JONES, and Mr. Carmack.

TMN: Where do you see bass music headed and how do you see yourselves fitting into that progression?

FA: The cool thing about bass music sound is that its always evolving. As far as sub genre’s go, what’s big now is pretty much here to stay for a long time to come. There’s some artists out there that are really doing there own thing as far as sound design goes and we really hope to carve out our own niche in that some day.

TMN: Let’s get more technical on this next one, what’s your go to plug-in and why?

FA: Serum is the go to right now. You can create anything from scratch in there or you can go to town on an existing audio clip, preset, etc. There’s still so much to learn about it too so thats pretty awesome that theres room to improve on our use of it.

TMN: What can we expect from FLTHY ANMLZ for the rest of 2017?

FA: Hopefully we can establish releases with some really solid labels by the end of the year and keep building on the brand we’ve started. That is our major goal right now. You can definitely be expecting more music from us thats for certain. We’re also working on booking some big shows so we can rinse out some of our unreleased arsenal we’ve been sitting on.

[R&B/Soul] Moods – Truth Feat. Beau Nox

Let’s get sexy with “Truth.” The Moods single features Beau Nox and has been released by Boogie Angst. This soulful original will touch you to your core, so don’t be surprised when you find yourself purchasing the song from a digital platform.

“Truth” is the definition of a slow jam. Beau soars on this single with the performance of a lifetime while Moods gets as smooth as possible on the instrumental. No matter if you’re coming from the electronic world or R&B, this is a respectable record with songwriting that will melt your heart. You better get your feels ready for this one if you haven’t.

[Future Bass] Daijo – Love You Better

Depending on who you ask, future bass is either thriving or declining. No matter where the genre is at, Daijo is pushing forward with fun originals that nail the style. Daijo has carved his own lane within the genre, bringing forth a pop-influence with strong songwriting and impressive vocals from a wide variety of singers.

His newest song “Love You Better” adds another anthem to Daijo’s catalog. Clean and catchy production is what he’s dialed into, hitting the bullseye every time he releases a track. That’s certainly exemplified by his latest work. If you like what you’re hearing, then make sure to check out his full list of releases and grab his latest from digital stores today.

[Electronic] Limbic Void – The Alternate Life (feat. Iben Bjørg Anton)

Limbic Void of Norway has an EP coming out soon entitled The Alternate Life. The title track featuring Iben Bjørg Anton has hit the web to give us a taste of what’s to come. If the rest of the EP is anything like this song, it’s going to end up in our digital library here in the dojo.

“The Alternate Life” is a mellow electronic single that brings the darker side of pop into the mix. Limbic Void paints a potent picture with his backdrop for Iben whose performance leads the track with fervor. Together their sounds work together extraordinarily for a result that you’ll be playing over and over again. The single is currently out on iTunes but will be included in LV’s EP to come.

[Pop] Amy Cohen – Playing Games

The Boston beauty Amy Cohen, who some may recognize from her amazing covers, is taking a new step in her career. We hope the covers continue, but we’d be okay if she just stuck with her own original material. Such original material has come forward in the form of her debut single “Playing Games.”

This single melds R&B and pop to a perfect degree. With a unique, future-tinged instrumental, “Playing Games” has a little something for everybody. Amy shows off her songwriting skills in full form, while flexing the voice that so many have fallen in love with. As 2017 begins to die down, look for Amy to make a huge splash.

“Playing Games touches on the push/pull power dynamic we see so often in today’s relationships, emphasizing how simple it all could be if we just swallowed our pride and gave in to what we want.”

Kompany & G-Rex Drop Collab & 10 Production Tips [TMN Interview]

If you’ve got the sauce, there should be no downfall. The only exception to this comes from Kompany and G-Rex whose newest single “Downfall” has been released as a free download. Not only have they delivered a whopping bass beast, but they entered the dojo for a little something extra.

As two of bass music’s most promising up and comers, they’ve put in the time and diligence to get where they are today. Their rise can be attributed to amazing works like “Downfall” but those tracks come from honing in the skills at home or in the studio. That’s why we sat down with them to get five production tips from each of the boys. While you enjoy their boisterous hit, read through their advice and get to work on your next hit!

Kompany:
1. Find your sound. Experiment with your own style of synthesis or resampling techniques and really drive that home so you have something recognizable to your songs.

2. Take time to dial in your drums. Even one small adjustment to your hi-hats/kick and snare can change the energy of your entire track.

3. Find the weakest point in your production and spend a whole entire month or so focusing strictly on that.

4. Be patient with your releases! Build a catalog of impressive music to pitch to your favorite labels. Make it all cohesive if possible.

5. Put in the hours. There are no shortcuts and if you put in every free hour you have into production you will grow at an exceptionally fast rate.

G-Rex:
1. Don’t Sleep on your DAWs native plugin. Having tons and tons of VSTs is awesome but most of the time the presets in your DAWs native plugins can do the same thing. Just become aware of what they all do and how they can be used.

2. Make your own sample pack to use. Making your own sample pack with your go-to samples will speed up your work flow and help you continue to build on your sound.

3. Keep your sample library organized. This will also help when with workflow and speed of production. Proper labeling will help with searching in your Daw when your looking for that perfect sample.

4. Experiment. There really is no rules when it comes to producing. Never box yourself in. The more time you invest experimenting the more you will learn about your production style and will eventually fall into production routines that will end up leading to your “sound.”

5. Have your palette ready going into writing. I have sat down countless times excited to write something new and just haven’t known where to start or end up with just a loop. It is a lot easier to start with a painters perspective. get some samples, presets, and vocal ideas that fit the vibe/idea of what you want to write, throw them in your DAW, and start arranging them into a full song.

Cardi B – Bodak Yellow (Deux Twins Remix) [TMN Premiere]

We’re proud to have Deux Twins back in the dojo with the premiere of their new remix. Not only are we offering you a first listen to the song, but we’re sharing a free download of the flip on top of that! What’s the remix you may ask? Well if you didn’t notice from the article title the sisters switched up “Bodak Yellow” by Cardi B.

Deux Twins keep the overall hip-hop vibe of the original while adding in some of their own dance-driven elements. As two party-popping DJs, they know what gets people on their feet and this remix will certainly do that. It’s not jam-packed to the brim with too much energy, instead focusing on creating a groove that people can connect to. Their melodic take on the original is a memorable flip among a mass of bootlegs that have been coming out. Enjoy the premiere and don’t forget to download the track for free!

[Electronic] CVBZ – Be Somebody

CVBZ continues his push to the top with his latest single “Be Somebody” that dropped on the first of the month. With it he expands on his electronic crossover sound that has some serious potential in the greater music scene. Dance music’s being tackled, but that alone simply won’t cut it for CVBZ.

The Los Angeles creator had some fun with this one as its sound just oozes with positive emotions. As far as “vibes” go, this has got all the right things going for it. “Be Somebody” is no doubt a great Summer track, but it will certainly be a bright light for us to bask in as the seasons shift and we enter into Fall. Big things are coming for CVBZ, so stay tuned for more work from him soon. In the meantime grab a copy of “Be Somebody” from iTunes today.

[Electronic] What So Not feat. LPX – Better

“Better” is more than just a song from What So Not and LPX. It was created to inspire, to pull people out from any dark place they might find themselves in. After listening, it certainly catalyzes a feeling of awe and motivation.

It’s not one of those inspiring tracks that tries to be overly upbeat. Instead its honest with its intent, building a complex soundscape that portrays each emotion involved. Both the dark and light are brought together in a powerful record that happens to be What So Not’s first original release in 2017. It’s nice to hear him back in action putting out great work and we hope more comes soon. For those of you who want “Better” you can get a copy from digital platforms today.

Martin Luke Brown – Opalite [TMN PREMIERE]

In all honesty, it’s been a while since I’ve reviewed something. I’ve been in a weird spot musically, combing back through albums from my youth, unimpressed with a lot of recently released work. While I’m sure you give a proper shit about what I’ve been listening to, you should know that Martin Luke Brown broke me out of that spell.

“Opalite,” his second single on Manchester indie label LAB Records, is a slightly more pop-forward track than his last release, “Into Yellow.” However, as much as it delves into something you might catch on the radio or a commercial for a trendy brand, it still maintains a rugged, real, and intrepid personality. That’s mostly thanks in part to MLB’s gritty, yet still wonderfully, soulful voice which immidiately grabs you.

‘Opalite’ as a song began with this hypnotic little drum loop and the words just came out. I write placeholder lyrics all the time and then chip away at them until they’re complete but I pretty much stuck with what rolled on ‘Opalite’. It just felt right. It’s about finding hope in something and not wanting to let it go. Whether you find that hope in superstition or religion or love. Whatever really

Gorgeous vocals aside, there is plenty of instrumental intrigue that will have you nodding in approval. I can personally attest to this and would like to offer a wholesome thank you. MLB, you’re talents have broken this old musical curmudgeon out of gridlock. I’m now flying down the highway, jamming to “Opalite,” grinning ear-to-ear.

Make sure to check out Martin Luke Brown’s work beyond “Opalite,” as it’s simply brilliant. I’ve included “Into Yellow” below, because I just couldn’t help myself. It’s that good.

[Music Video] Mistah F.A.B. – Champagne & Cookies

Back in May, the Bay Area legend Mistah F.A.B. released his album Stan Pablo: 4506. The last song on the LP, “Champagne & Cookies” has now, just a few months later, received a dope music video. Mistah F.A.B. keeps things simple and tasteful with this visual adaptation.

“Champagne & Cookies” as a track oozes the cool confidence that its creator exudes. It’s no doubt such a strong record comes from one of the most iconic figures in rap. In regards to the video, it follows Mistah F.A.B. through several scenes, including one with a cameo from the one and only Sway. Give the video a peep and make sure to grab the album from iTunes if you have not yet.

[Future] BRKLYN feat. Jocelyn Alice – I’m On Somethin’

Enhanced Music dropped a heater from BRKLYN and Jocelyn Alice called “I’m On Somethin'” recently. It’s interesting upbeat sound just might make you feel like you actually are on something. It’s that good.

The intoxicating sound will fill your soul with positive energy that you release through some (hopefully) wicked dance moves. This pop meets electronic crossover track is not your typical when it comes to producers honing in on the pop world. Whether they did it purposefully or not, the result was a great song that lovers of both genres can enjoy. Vibrant, lively and oh so sweet, “I’m On Somethin” will close out Summer with just the right vibe. Get your copy of the single today.

[Electronic] San Holo – I Still See Your Face

San Holo is making his return to The Music Ninja with yet another stunning masterpiece, “I Still See Your Face.” The new release is undoubtedly following the path towards the same massive success seen with his previous originals like “Light” and “The Future.” But this time, the bitbird head honcho throws quite a large curveball at listeners. Known for enlisting vocalists that perfectly complement each track he’s put out thus far, “I Still See Your Face” showcases Holo’s vox for the very first time and boy, we are definitely not disappointed.

The song stays true to the Dutch producer’s signature brand of sound as it features a buoyant, enrapturing melody constructed by youthful synths and chimes. “I Still See Your Face” will be the first single on the second Gouldian Finch compilation album. Also make sure to peep the official music video here.

[Electronic] Autograf – Sleepless In NYC

It’s been some time since we’ve posted about electronic trio Autograf, but they’ve made it back on our radar with their brand new release. “Sleepless In NYC” is an irresistible jam that you’ll want to bump on every road trip. The dreamy, euphoric production makes for the perfect backdrop to the singer’s ethereal vocals, which are later greeted by an unexpected and lively drop. What catches our attention most with Autograf’s latest is the divergence in sound compared to their previous works. “Sleepless In NYC” is definitely a step in a new direction for them and leaves us on the edge of our seats as we eagerly wait to hear what they have in store for us next.
