[Alternative] – Exhibitionist – Motionless

It goes without saying, but Future Classic is at it again with identifying promising artists, and the one of the latest to release new material with them is Exhibitionist, the solo project of Kirsty Tickle. Following up the release of “Hands” seven month prior, Exhibitionist takes to a seductively syncopated groove on “Motionless” that traverses waves of modulated synths, a simple yet defiant drum pattern, and expressive vocals that seamlessly drift alongside every element of the song. The palpable sense of warmth throughout the tune provides an intangible comfort that lasts long after the final minutes, and with the fall season upon us, at least in some places, Exhibitionist has crafted an essential soundtrack to the more contemplative times ahead that accompany an evening indoors on a cold and (hopefully) snowy day. We’re certainly eager for more from Exhibitionist, and here’s to hoping we’ll be hearing something fresh sooner than later.

[Electronic] REPRIISE – TEMPLE

When it comes to celebrating October 31st, most people do so with costumes and horror movie binges, but many electronic music fans usually supplement that with the yearly installment of RL Grime‘s Halloween mix. The sixth year in a row of wild premieres, edits, and unreleased material continues to find RL Grime establishing his annual mixes as an opportunity to share not only his own tracks, but also give aspiring producers a chance to level up on a larger playing field.

One unnamed song in particular has had people commenting, and, due to recently finding a post on r/trap, we were able to discover that REPRIISE had posted a massive club/trap/tribal hybrid track that held its own among all of the huge songs throughout the mix. While it was edited with Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” in the mix, hearing the song in its original state solidifies its infectious rhythm with drums and percussion fit to bust your speakers. The entire Halloween mix never fails to be a spectacle, and REPRIISE certainly had created a chance to capitalize on an enormous original tune. Catch more of REPRIISE’s material here.

It’s a humorous track despite it’s deep shadowed style. It’s a club ready heater that we have the honor of sharing with you first in this premiere. Put your costume on, turn up the speakers and celebrate Halloween with all of us right here, right now. [Electronic] Motoko – Memories EP

Halloween is largely going to be taken over by dark works, but we’re here to lighten things up with Motoko. The Colorado creator just released his debut EP Memories as a free download and it is something you are going to want to get.

Coming in at three tracks, Memories shows just what Motoko can do with an extended project. Some producers rely on solely releasing singles or EPs that don’t really flow together, but Motoko’s project here is a magnificent storied collection of songs that belong together. His future bass-driven sound is full of life with a unique character to it that makes it stand out from other similar releases. Don’t let Memories float away out of your conscioussness, get your copy of it today.

Soul Bandit – Alone In Life, Together in Death [EP PREMIERE]

To celebrate Halloween we’ve gathered in the dojo for a special premiere from Soul Bandit! One song just wasn’t enough – we’ve got her entire EP, Alone In Life, Together in Death, to share with you on top of some exciting news for those of you in the LA area!

Aside from celebrating Halloween today, Soul Bandit is hosting a “soulebration” for the release of her EP. The free even will be at The Love Song Bar on Main Street in LA. There you’ll be able to get the full Soul Bandit experience, but here in the dojo we’re warming up for the party.

Alone In Life, Together in Death comes in at four tracks long. Soul Bandit showcases her dark, electro pop sound with a concept EP that is not your typical, simple collection of songs. It’s a tale through the afterlife conceived in song by one of pop’s most unique talents. Enjoy the exclusive stream below and see just what Soul Bandit had to say about the project herself.

The title of the EP is as morbid as you interpret it to be. I frequently think about how, despite surrounding ourselves with people, we essentially spend our entire lives alone. We are left to our own devices trying to express our thoughts, feelings, and our individual identities through words and actions. But unfortunately, no one will ever be in our minds with us to truly understand who we are and the realities that we are experiencing. But if we live – regardless of the life we live – we must all eventually experience a death. And death is simply that – death, no matter how look at it. We’re no longer present in this plane of existence, in human form, and that’s all we know. That’s all we can agree on. Everyone looks at a corpse as a corpse, and the corpse thinks nothing at all.

So, alone in life, together in death.

[Indie] argonaut&wasp – Prove It To You / Body Sensations

Our Brooklyn buddies argonaut&wasp have come through with two groovy jams released on Bang! Jango Records. Their double single project is a one-two punch of funky heat straight from New York.

“Prove It To You” starts things off with the band’s usual dance-pop style that has captivated audiences around the world. It’s light, fun and so incredibly easy to dance to with its vibrant energy. Secondly we get “Body Sensations” which delivers on its name. “Body Sensations” slows things down, but keeps up the groove all the same. Together these songs make for one of our favorite argonaut&wasp projects. Sit back and let these guys take control of your day, you won’t regret it.

[Dubstep] Reid Speed x Wenzday – The Gift

Two of bass music’s bright stars have come together to deliver “The Gift” to the world. Reid Speed and Wenzday‘s treat comes through the Play Me Records imprint with a whole lot of heat. In mixing their styles they came up with something truly massive.

You might expect something called “The Gift” to come around all of the December holidays, but these two ladies brought this present out early for everyone, whether they’ve been naughty or nice. With how dirty this one is, chances are the producers were targeting the naughty. The great thing about this song is that Reid Speed and Wenzday bring together a lighter style in the verses with the heavier drops that their rail riding fans can rage to. All together this dynamic piece is just what you need to kick off the week on the right note. Get “The Gift” today on digital formats.

Luis Crucet – Power (feat. Silk Matthews) [TMN Premiere]

To end the week we’re proud to present the premiere of Luis Crucet‘s debut original single. Featuring Silk Matthews, “Power” is a strong future bass record that takes some creative liberties to really make the song stand out over the rest of the convoluted mass of releases within the genre.

“Power” is an appropriate name for such a powerful song. Every component is just right, aiding to the song’s emotional strength. Superb songwriting mixed with interesting instrumentation and quality production make this beast what it is. Luis Crucet has already wowed people with his remixes, but now he shows off what he can do with his own vision. Enjoy your exclusive first listen here in the dojo!

Get ready for an internet friendly music video from Caleon Fox who has already stirred up things in the web world before. He just dropped his new song “Semi Cinematic Visual” and by itself it is something to cherish, but alongside the music video the project as a whole is a complete treasure.

The beat is fire, the lyrics are fire and the video is pipin’ hot. What more could you ask from someone? Caleon keeps it steamin’ with his light-hearted performance atop a beat that is going to be stuck in your head for quite some time. The other thing that will take over your mind is the funny video that comes with it. “Semi Cinematic Visual” as a whole is just what you need to go into the weekend with a smile on your face.

[Electronic] Brasstracks – For Those Who Know Part 1

If for some reason you were restricted to listen to one EP this week, then you’d have to make it For Those Who Know by Brasstracks. This all-encompassing project has a mix of jazz, hip-hop and electronic that is blended to perfection. With a whole host of collaborators, this EP is just about as good as it gets with everyone making their mark on it.

Brasstracks divvy up some sounds from their roots in New York throughout the EP that totals in six songs including an intro and outro. Every participant brought their A-game with Brasstracks leading the charge with all-star production and instrumentation that will leave you breathless. Although they have a Grammy under their belt already, Brasstracks are only taking things up from there by improving on their sound and technique more and more as time progresses. This project is a testament to creativity, hard collaborative work and vision. You’d be making a mistake by not grabbing a copy of For Those Who Know Part 1. Safe to say, we’re looking forward to Part 2.

[Pop] John.k – Wrong

There’s nothing wrong with John.k despite his new single “Wrong” that he just dropped. As Elvis Duran’s artist of the month for October and appearing on the Today Show, he’s got a lot going on for himself. His latest single is another step in the right direction.

“Wrong” is a poppy breathe of fresh air, something that John seems to provide time and time again for the cluttered, musty world of music. With this original we see John show off just where his vocal can go issuing calm lines just before belting out the next line with supreme power and tonality. It’s one of our favorite singles from him so far as he keeps honing his sound and creative skills. 2017 is the year of John.k.

[R&B] Xavier White – Dancing After Dark

Xavier White makes his return to the dojo with “Dancing After Dark” on Lush Records. This electronic infused R&B gem is just another example of why Xavier is one of the hottest artists in the urban world right now.

No matter what styles Xavier brings to the table with his work, he always nails it. He’s already well-established himself as a dynamic artist, yet he still continues to surprise us. “Dancing After Dark” is a vibey anthem for your late night retreats and drives. Because of its electronic influence it has a very clubby feel, but it still has a cool tone to it instead of pumping the energy up with force. It’s got the groove and movement to get you on your feet.

[Video] Porches – Find Me

Aaron Maine’s Porches music project has proved itself a critical darling after the excellent 2016 LP Pool and its demo based sister release Water. Porches has undergone a complete musical symbiosis from the folk inspired pop of 2013’s Slow Dance in the Cosmos, and after having recently announced the January 19 release of The House, the third full-length album from the New York based group, they’ve released its first music video backing the single “Find Me”. Aurally, “Find Me” is an icy track with its lyrics touching on anxiety, escape and isolation. Not new subject material for Maine, but one that he has shown an ability to convey flawlessly in his brief songwriting career. A signature array of vintage synths permeate the tune’s breathing space, rising and falling behind shuffling hi’s and greasy bass, resulting in that beautiful indie-pop aesthetic we’ve grown accustomed to from Porches. In video form, the visual theme is wound tightly to Maine’s psyche, focusing primarily on his physical from in the process.

Watch the video, co-directed by Maine himself, and Nick Harwood below, and revisit our review of their 2016 live show in Denver here. The House is available for pre-order now on iTunes, Bandcamp and from their label Domino Records’ online shop with a limited run of pale-yellow translucent vinyl complete with a fold-out poster, CD, cassette, and digital download.

[Trap] BEAUZ & Lenii – Not That Brave

“Not That Brave” is a new collaborative single by BEAUZ and Lenii. Released through the Spinnin’ Records umbrella this original single is a fantastic production that straddles the line between radio friendly and underground ready.

It’s got its poppy influences and for the most party, it’s a clean record despite it’s use of hard-nosed basses to spice things up. In using those sharp subtleties against the backdrop of a radio-friendly song, BEAUZ and Lenii offer up a dynamic song that’s accessible to multiple crowds within and outside of the dance music community. It’s not easy cooking up something this accessible, but they succeeded with a wonderful record.

SANiTY – East Coast G House Compilation [TMN Premiere]

We’ve got quite the treat today. In the dojo we’re premiering a huge compilation album curated – and party created – by SANiTY. In honor of the producer’s forte he has put together a ten track project called East Coast G House and you get the first listen to it here!

What makes this project interesting is not only that it’s a collection of incredible house records from talented producers, but it’s basically two projects in one. The first half of the LP is made up of original collaborations between house producers and emcees all from the East Coast, including works from SANiTY himself, Kapo and GORILLUH. For the second half, SANiTY collected works that are all sample based. Together each half is strong on its own, but when they come together to form the entire compilation their power and groove exponentially grows. Listen through and have a funky Tuesday!

[Dubstep] YOOKiE X Wooli – Voodoo

Another mega collaboration has come out, this time from YOOKiE and Wooli. Together these bass giants created “Voodoo” that has come out on the esteemed Firepower Records imprint. As you would imagine coming from these two acts, this original isn’t just a run of the mill record.

“Voodoo” implores some extra dirty sounds, but before we get to those, the producers take us through an ominous tribal introduction to set the mood just right. When “Voodoo” drops into the thick of things we’re met with a bassline that really can’t be described by words – it’s something you just have to hear for yourself. [Trap] Holly – Beijing EP

The good people over at FrshBlood are continuing to unleash some gnarly tunes from talented producers all across the world. Their latest project comes through as an EP from Holly entitled Beijing. Complete with three unique tracks, this EP is a testament to where bass music can go.

Holly’s had a seemingly infinite amount of releases with many of those being interesting, left-field works. This entire EP is just that, delving out a variety of sounds that have a weird – in the best way possible – edge to them. “Web Friendship” is a dark trap record that goes by in a flash because of how good it is and its short length. You’ll be jamming it on repeat, but don’t get stuck because twerky “Fomuh Ride” is in need of your attention along with the third single. “New York Taco” is where the Asian influence jumps into the mix and may be our favorite track on the project. [Electronic] Nurko – With You (feat. Misdom)

New Jersey’s Nurko is back with another original single. Featuring Misdom “With You” is a chilled out electronic treat that isn’t your average tune. It’s more less driven by “drops” and more vocally centered allowing the performance to breathe throughout the production. It’s more like something you’d hear on the radio rather than something you’d jam out to at a DJ set, although this track would be amazing live. Once you take a listen you’ll see just what we mean. [Future Bass] NEMØ – Why Don’t You feat. Emma Bass

Be Rich Records added a hot one to their catalog from the Sydney producer NEMØ. His single “Why Don’t You” features Emma Bass on vocals for a memorable future bass sing-along. This style goes up and down with so many people creating it lately, but this is definitely a highlight for the genre. NEMØ keeps things clean and simple for a catchy tune that won’t be a simple listen once and done sort of song. It’s something you’ll come back to again and again. “Why Don’t You” is currently available online for those looking for a copy.

Embers is complete with five singles including a collaboration with Samplifire. You may be wondering why there’s only four tracks here and you can thank Soundcloud’s problematic identification process that has taken down an original song. Good thing is – the entire EP is available to stream or purchase on digital platforms. Back in early July Bobby Nourmand released his original single “Mind” featuring DOC & Goodmorning through Potion. Today an extension of the project has come our way to share. Mind (The Remixes) is here in full with three bustling cuts.

As you would guess coming from the Potion team, this remix EP is all house. The great about this project is that each remix has its own sound, delivering different nuances to Bobby’s record. Parx gets super techy with the first take, while Tom & Collins delve more into a deep sound with vivid grooves. Lastly, Limits comes through with the most unique take on the song. All together these flips make for a strong EP that does Bobby’s “Mind” justice.

[Electro] Downlowd – Well Connected

Get ready for some good ol’ electro. Downlowd has come out of hiding and ended his hiatus to deliver his single “Well Connected” to the world. His new story begins and the first tale is here in full, out now on all digital platforms.

“Well Connected” is a a cerebral electro heater. It starts out with an intriguing vocal monologue that is a bit satirical with its content. After the rather unique introduction Downlowd bursts us into a bustling beat characterized by the almighty bassline. His is dirty in the classic sense – not overly compressed and gritty like much of the dubstep of today whose sound design has permeated house music. What makes this track so exceptional though is that it grows from beginning to end. Downlowd didn’t simply copy and paste, then add a few simple things to the latter half. He truly delivered on an in-depth record.

Let Boy Bjorn whisk you away with his new project “Gunpoint.” For a track with such a name, you wouldn’t think you’d get something so relaxed and laid-back as you do with this original. Not only do we have the song to share, but we have an emotional music video as well. Boy Bjorn put together a striking video with a dark ambiance about it that makes for quite the viewing. Muted colors plague the visuals which set the tone nicely with the ominous song playing in the back. Overall both the song and video are superb. MOHA – A-Side [TMN Premiere]

Featuring eclectic, up and coming artists with prominent potential is the lifeblood around here at TMN. Which is why, when we came across the first single from French-Senegalese artist Moha‘s debut LP FIT, the appropriately titled alt-pop R&B burner “A-Side”, we knew we had to jump all over it and get it into the ears of our readers.

Immediately, Moha’s unique musical fusion of African, French, and US influenced sounds is apparent, riding along elegantly picked guitar and shifting percussion which dive head first into a sea of gently raspy vocal reverberations. They way Moha so effortlessly wraps those gauzy vocals around its tightly wound production is quite consuming. As muted horns unfurl into “A-Side”‘s catchy chorus, it’s quite difficult to not stay stuck throughout its duration. Like his following, which has shunned the typical social media directed aesthetic and outside influence, Moha builds his music organically, layering his own playing on multiple instruments with powerful songwriting to create a sound and album that we are enthusiastically anticipating the release of. Until the full release of FIT, enjoy Moha’s “A-Side” served up fresh as a TMN Premiere above.

Caden Jester Premieres New Single “Fade” With Q&A [TMN Interview]

This Sunday evening Caden Jester from California is taking over the dojo. From his home in San Diego he has cooked up some quality tunes, the latest of which you get to hear today for the first time. Not only do we have the premiere of “Fade” with Butterjack, but we got to ask Caden a few questions as well.

“Fade” is a poppy, dembow driven original that shows off Caden’s crisp, accessible style. A lot of dance producers are making a push for popular radio, but not all of them can do it right. Caden’s keen creative sense is something you don’t find in someone so young. Only time will tell just how far he will go. Enjoy the exclusive first listen to “Fade” now and get to know Caden Jester before everyone else does!

TMN: How did you originally get into music?

My dad was a music producer and a rapper growing up, and when I was about 9 or 10 years old he introduced me to Garageband and that spawned my love for making music. He showed me the ropes and got me on the right direction and I took everything he taught me and expanded over that over the years. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without my dad.

TMN: Who were some of your favorite acts growing up?

T-Pain, Akon, Pharrell, Kanye West, Justin Timberlake, Ne-Yo, Timbaland… I had a very hip hop based childhood lol.

TMN: Has being from San Diego shaped your music in any way?

I’ve grown up surrounded by Latin culture. I love Latin food, music, countries, etc… It has definitely influenced my music. Not so much my released stuff, but you will definitely be able to hear the latin influences in my upcoming music.

TMN: What do you enjoy more, making originals or remixes?

Ohh definitely originals, 100%. I’m no longer doing any remixes. Nowadays I’m trying to brand myself less of a “producer” or a “dj” and more of an “artist”, if that makes sense… Cause at some point I will be releasing music with my own vocals, unlike anything I’ve previously released, and I feel like that’s the creative direction I should be taking for that to all make sense.

TMN: How has your sound developed over the past couple of years?

When I first started getting a couple hundred thousand plays on Soundcloud I was making a lot of bouncy deep house stuff, which at the time was pretty unique. My main inspiration at that time was Disclosure, but even then I think my sound was a bit different from theirs (although, almost every blog and Youtube channel would call me “the next Disclosure”, which I really didn’t care much for lol). My current released music is basically just a more poppy version of that. My unreleased stuff, however, is very R&B/pop and has a lot of latin and african influences. I’m actually working with both latin and african artists, and I’ve made some of my best music yet with those people.

TMN: If you could collaborate with one vocalist, who would it be?

That’s so hard because there are so many vocalists I absolutely love. One that I came across recently that absolutely blew me away was a guy named Will Heard. He released an acoustic EP which I listen to more than the “original” version because of how amazing he sounds on it.

TMN: What does the rest of the year look like for you?

I’ve produced a couple tracks for Butterjack, the vocalist on Fade, and at least one of those should be released sometime this year. Then after the release of Fade, there is this R&B track I’m featuring on with a guy named Bailey Graham and Christopher Blake called “Penthouse”, which will most likely be releasing sometime shortly after Fade… I also have a very latin-inspired track with a duo called SYON and a vocalist who lives in Kenya named WillX BOY. That track is in Spanish, English, and Swahili. I also have a million other projects going. I’m super excited to show everyone all this music I’ve been working on. I definitely think it will make up for the lack of releases I’ve had this year.

[Event Preview] One Love Festival – Lake Ferris, CA – 10/20-10/22

It’s tough to keep up with the seemingly endless supply of festivals. With only a limited amount of disposable income, it’s a challenge to pick and choose which ones are worth your time. The heavy hitters are always a good route, whether it be Coachella or Lollapalooza, but those come with a hefty price tag, and an endless sea of people all jockeying to get closer to the stage.

Lately, we’ve been checking out a few festivals that fall into the “Transformational” space. Aside from offering up a solid line up, they have a little more too offer — yoga, bonding ceremonies, healers, live painting, and more.

In a few weeks, we’re going to head out to Lake Ferris, California, which is about two hours outside of Los Angeles, for the One Love Festival. It covers all the bases mentioned above, delivering programming that goes well beyond music. Not to say that we’re not excited for a few of the acts playing — Moby, Mark Farina, and Alex Cruz are a few that we’ve highlighted. But, the thought of a deeper meaning to the festival experience is something we’re excited about, especially after hitting so many that are just about the music over the years.

To switch our usual routine up even further, we’re going to skip the camping, luxury hotel packages, and the AirBnB rentals, instead opting for a completely unique experience. It’s called the Lost Hotel, and it’s unlike anything that we’ve ever heard of.

You set the scene – each cube tent is a blank canvas. At the Lost Hotel we take an expansive notion of the word art. Surprise us. Shock us. Illuminate us. Do it however you please, and the floor, or at least one square cube of it, is yours. We’re specialized at vacation de-programming and, if needed, can help co-create a new story tailored just for you.

If you’re feeling lucky, or if you’d just like to help out with a great cause, our friends at Cadence & Cause have a handful of ways to get into the festival and support Fuck Cancer, a charity that helps with prevention, early detection, and emotional support for those battling breast cancer. From artist experiences with Alex Cruz, to the ultimate festival experience for four people, you have a chance to have the time of your life, all while helping something that affects us all.

While you’re checking that out, feel free to jam on the little playlist we’ve curated below, and get amped for your time out at Lake Ferris.

[Mixtape] Manifesto Presents Eyes On Sachi

The good people over at Manifesto are continuing with their Spotify playlist series called Eyes On. They just kicked off the series recently with Cosmo’s Midnight curating the launch and now the label is back with Sachi. The Auckland duo deliver a 48 song playlist coming in at just over two and a half hours, so there’s plenty of music to take with you for the weekend. The more music, the merrier. Stay tuned for more curation from artists all across the world in this series. If you’re feeling like you wanna dive even deeper, we’ve got you covered with over twenty playlists in the dojo as well!

[Music Video] Mistah F.A.B – Dear Mr. President

Here in the dojo we don’t often get political, but sometimes something just needs to be said. Granted, we don’t have to say anything personally, because Mistah F.A.B has already stated what’s needed to be expressed already. His single “Dear Mr. President” is a sonic letter to the head of state written by the Bay Area emcee from not just he, but the oppressed and overlooked individuals that Stanley is representing. It’s a powerful message that we just had to share and we hope it hits you deep enough that you pass the message along.

[Electronic] Halsey – Bad At Love (Autograf Remix)

We’ve been missing music trio Autograf for a little while now, since they put out their last original “Sleepless in NYC.” But thankfully, they’re back, and this time, they’re supplying us with their fresh take of Halsey’s “Bad At Love.” In their rendition of the pop hit, they introduce quite a different sound from what we’re accustomed to, and we are definitely okay with it. Autograf go a bit harder than normal in the remix, sneaking in the perfect dose of trap elements without overpowering the “Bad At Love’s” innate pop vibe. Get ready to have this one on replay all weekend.

[Get Crunk] Friday Party Playlist (Vol 267)

Get ready to turn up, it’s Friday. As always we’ve got the Friday Party Playlist for you, but this week we brought some extra heat for you – not in the form of more music, it’s just for some reason people released some freebies that were exceptionally fire this week. Maybe it’s because it’s the week of Friday the 13th? Who knows. We’re not tripping about it though, we’re glad. Tracks this week come from producers like Madnap, Two Friends, DEMUR, Far Too Loud, Kai Wachi, Apashe and more. There’s even an ATLiens x Jameston Thieves collab that is top shelf alongside a Riot Ten x Sullivan King treat that we end things with because after their song things might just be burned down to the ground. Think you can handle the heat? Click play and run through all twelve!

[Future Bass] Diamond Pistols – Gravity ft. Lydia

Diamond Pistols independently dropped a heater today called “Gravity” with the vocalist Lydia. His energetic future bass original is just what you need to turn your Friday up with the right vibe. It’s currently available on digital platforms for those looking to buy it or add it to their playlists.

“Gravity” starts out with a gripping piano introduction that instantly grabs your attention and sucks you in. Lydia further gains your attention once she jumps into the mix with her stunning performance. Things build up into an epic climax that explodes into a vibrant future field of lush synths. It’s an amazing record – although amazing records are no strangers to Diamond Pistol. Check out the single today and don’t forget to grab a copy.

[House] JackLNDN – Bones

“Bones” by JackLNDN was somewhat unexpected since he just recently dropped a remix for Ben Phipps. There’s no stopping him though, he’s always got something hot tucked under his sleeve. Released on Deux Trois, this original is one of the dojo’s favorites from his catalog.

JackLNDN is well regarded as one of the smoothest producers around. When he drops something, you know you’re getting into something cool, crisp and clean. His signature sound is not something that gets old, it’s got a timeless feel. It’s no wonder that Pete Tong’s co-owned label backed this beautiful single. “Bones” has got it all and it comes just in time for your Fall playlists. Grab a copy or add it today through digital stores.

FWLR & JELO – Birth Of The Anti Hero [TMN Premiere]

Let’s jump right into a heavy premiere from the collaborators FWLR and JELO. Their song “Birth Of The Anti Hero” is taking over the dojo alongside its remix counterpart in this premiere. Released on Bishop Bloc Records, this one two punch of bass is only for those who like to get a bit rough.

The grinding bass and European electro sound that “Birth Of The Anti Hero” expresses is making a comeback, especially within the states. It may be just at its beginning, but the comeback will continue as long as acts churn out records like this one. It’s dirty, it’s mean and it’s incredibly intoxicating with its fervor. With the remix we get some added vocal elements that make for a nice touch as a flip for the original. Together they’re just what you need to re-enact your own warehouse party! If you’d like to grab the tracks, Beatport has you covered.

from The Music Ninja http://ift.tt/2kQauWD

sfam – Expand [TMN Premiere]

Let’s end the week nicely with a dirty premiere shall we? Enter sfam and the new single “Expand” from the producer’s EP of the same name. The duo’s project has dropped through Quality Goods Records today and we’ve got the premiere for you. Ready for an exclusive first listen?

“Expand” showcases sfam’s heightened rhythmic senses. Different sounds play with each other in a way that’s unusual if you were to collect a handful of bass records together. That unique style is part of what makes this single stand out. Superb sound design and a seasoned display of minimalism go a long way to making this song what it is. We’re proud to present something so interesting to you to end the week and we hope you check out the entire EP – maybe you’ll even expand your digital library with a copy of it. We did!

PS, pun very intended.

[Pop] DEV – I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ LP

Just over a month ago on September 8th, the California native DEV released the follow up to her Bittersweet July projects. Since then she’s come out with a few singles and remixes with producers, but now we get a fully fledged LP entitled I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’.

Complete with eleven songs and two short audio clips, this project sees DEV take her signature style to new heights. The introductory single “Have It All” really sets the tone nicely for the rest of the album, with a smooth tone and elements from numerous styles of music that are highlighted throughout the rest of the LP. DEV fluidly delivers a mix of R&B, pop, hip-hop and electronic for a multi-layered expression that is more than a simple collection of records. They all weave together so that I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ is more of a detailed tale than a normal musical album.

As with any artist that has mega hits in their catalog, people are always going to compare the new those songs, but to do that is unfair. DEV has grown as an artist and although she there’s a similar appeal to her hits, she’s grown as an artist and it shows in her work. She still can shine just as bright with magnificent pop works like “Skinny Dippin'” and the crossover treat “My Way” that are two of our favorites off the LP. Other notable singles include “All I Wanna Do,” “Cloud9” and “Bouncy.” Overall it’s a strong album that will take you by surprise. We recommend you get your copy of I Only See You When I’m Dreamin’ today!

PS, if you get a chance to see DEV live, do it!

[Indie] Ciele – Sweet Water River

If you’re looking for something to sooth your soul, then you’re in the right place. We’ve got the perfect thing to lose yourself in: “Sweet Water River” by Ciele is the solution. Whether you’re trying to get through the day or want to relax away your worries at the end of a long day, take a ride on Ciele’s sonic river.

“Sweet Water River” is inspired by the Archie Comics TV series “Riverdale” and sees Ciele piecing together the different perspectives of the characters. If you’re not familiar with the show, don’t worry, this track is still truly extraordinary. Part of what makes it so powerful is the fact that you can so easily connect to Ciele through her performance and the instrumental that will manifest some goosebumps all across your body. It’s a wonderful track that is currently available for purchase. Do yourself a favor and get a copy.

GoldFish – Talk To Me [TMN Video Premiere]

Today we have a very special premiere for you from the Cape Town to San Diego duo GoldFish. Their single “Talk To Me” has been released by Armada on the group’s album Late Night People just a handful of days ago. To celebrate we’re giving you an exclusive first look at the single’s music video!

Don’t expect just any old music video as this visual component is being put together with an incredible house record. To make sure there was no chance for an underwhelming project, veteran animator Mike Scott from Disney and Nickelodeon was tapped for yet another video for GoldFish. He created a funky story with animation that will bring out your inner child. The song/video partnership is one of the most unique projects we’ve seen this year and we hope you enjoy your exclusive first viewing in this premiere!

[Dubstep/Trap] Kai Wachi – Die Young EP

With how amazing Kai Wachi‘s music is, he’s going to live forever through the legacy he is building. This is somewhat ironic given the name of his latest project, Die Young, that was released today on Kannibalen Records. The project is another step in the right direction for Kai who is already steps ahead of most producers.

Officially Die Young features four originals including “LUVSICK” that is already a success in its own right as a single. On top of the hybrid tracks that he’s added to the mix, we get a bonus free download called “No Games” that can only be found on Soundcloud. Our guess is that it has to do with an uncleared vocal sample. It’s good for us though, as we can get this one for free. Even if it wasn’t the entire EP is worth the purchase price. Get ready to get filthy with some bass, Die Young is here. Get your copy online, or add it to your playlists!

[Electronic] I.Y.F.F.E – Change Of Heart (feat. Bluff)

Are you ready for another free download from Uprise Music? Would the fact that it comes directly from I.Y.F.F.E sweeten the pot? Both answers should be yes. The Brazilian producer’s collab with Bluff is not what you would expect though!

“Change Of Heart” is a fitting title for a song that sees a producer jump out of their comfort zone. I.Y.F.F.E has delivered incredible trap works for quite some time, but he switches things up completely here. Bluff’s vocal performance is laid atop a classic electro beat that eventually transforms into a more future bass style production. It’s a dynamic song, bringing in influence from older styles of electronic music, as well as new ones. Listen, download, enjoy!

[Indie] Magnus Bechmann – Bruises

Magnus Bechmann doesn’t really abide by one style. His eclectic sonic mixtures have caught the ears of people around the world and has been hailed by several top media sources as one of the best up and coming acts around. We’d like to throw our hat in the mix and back these statements. Just take his new single “Bruises” as an example of how talented Magnus is.

“Bruises” is a lively, indie/pop blend that goes way beyond even those two genres. It’s an incredibly fun song that is not only a great listen, but also is motivating if you listen to the lyrics and know how it came about. We’ll let Magnus take it away from here. So click play, grab a copy of the single and see just how this one came to fruition.

It is a track about decisions, and the point where you have to decide to go “all in” or “slow down and think about it”. Kinda like the yellow light in a traffic light: either you pedal to the metal, or slow down and wait for the next green. In my case, I thought it was best to speed up, and hope that the speeding ticket won’t be too big.

from The Music Ninja http://ift.tt/2xxQb5T

[Electronic] Rusty Hook feat. Truitt – Relief

It’s been some time since we’ve heard from French artist Rusty Hook. If you’re wondering where he went, he’s been hard at work putting the finishing touches on his forthcoming solo EP Romance Is Dead, Good Riddance. It is exactly for this reason that we are so excited to be presenting his debut single off the project, “Relief” featuring brother/sister duo Truitt.

We were instantly swept off our feet with the soulful vibe of “Relief.” He cooks up a pleasurable recipe that includes just the right proportions of elements from styles like indie, r&b and and electronic. The original’s genre-defying production is balanced by the comforting vocals of Truitt and coalesce for a hook that will easily stick with you. Like what you hear with “Relief?” Then make sure to keep your eyes peeled for the November release of Rusty Hook’s EP.

[Trap] SAYMYNAME – Drop It

At The Music Ninja, we LOVE Fridays. Not only does it mean we get to relax, have fun and sleep in, but most importantly, it means new music. This is also why Friday is one of the hardest days for us. With so many incredible releases, it’s quite difficult for us to tackle all of those newfound singles in one day. That’s why today we are going to share one of our favorite Friday finds from hard trap pioneer SAYMYNAME titled “Drop It.”

The Los Angeles-based producer had us on the edge of our seats with his blood-pumping single. Bass lovers around the world are bound to fall head over heels for the original’s dirty demeanor. The excitement doesn’t just end with the release though. “Drop It” comes with the exciting news of SAYMYNAME’s recent announcement of his US What’s My Name Tour. Make sure to snag a ticket while you can here. We can only say that this tour is one you won’t want to miss, and his latest single is a perfect reason why.

[House] Drezo X Dustycloud – House

We know mornings can be quite the feat. It’s always a challenge to wake yourself from a peaceful slumber and find the motivation to pull yourself out of the warm and cozy bed. Whether it’s heading off to class or another 8-hour work day, the difficulty never fades. That’s why this Tuesday morning we are thankful to have come across Drezo and Dustycloud’s energy-driven collaboration “House.”

Guided by electrifying synths and supported with a bassline that gets the adrenaline kicking, “House” is the wake up call we’ve all been asking for – one that won’t have you moaning and groaning and the thought of leaving the bed. Take a listen and we can assure that you’ll be “up and at ’em” in no time.

Ronzel feat Blak Trash – GWAP [TMN Premiere]

California is taking over the dojo with this premiere. “GWAP” was created by San Diego producer Ronzel who teamed up with Oakland’s own Blak Trash. Get your dancing shoes on, this one will get you grooving.

“GWAP” is a dirty deep house record that hits the bulls eye as far as good club music goes. As with many house tracks like this, the bassline takes the lead on getting you on your feet and moving. It’s simple, catchy and all around dope. Both acts killed it, delivering a song that isn’t as straightforward as you may think. They spice things up with little surprises here and there. Overall, great tune and you heard it first here in the dojo! Get your copy of “GWAP” today.

SIKKIE – Assthetiks EP [TMN Premiere]

Enter the dojo today to get your scoop of Assthetiks from SIKKIE. We’ve got you covered on the exclusive first listen to the Oakland to LA emcee’s EP. Complete with four originals and a remix, this project will make your Monday not suck. It’s also a free download, so there’s that.

Assthetiks is a strong trap/hip-hop EP, one of the better ones we’ve come across this year. It’s got heavy influence from the Bay Area culture and sound, which should come as no surprise given SIKKIE’s roots. Strong, simple production can be a powerful thing, which is evident from this project. All of the originals are great to listen to on your own, or if you’re looking to keep the party going late into the night. Zipse’s remix adds a nice touch to close things out as well!

from The Music Ninja http://ift.tt/2kBoL9p

[House] Ben Phipps – Mrs Mr ft. Lizzy Land (JackLNDN Remix)

Ben Phipps‘ single “Mrs Mr” with Lizzy Land was a nice change of pace from the usual Summer releases. Lizzy’s powerful performance was one of the most memorable of the season and Ben’s electro-infused instrumental was grade A. Now all the components that made the song great have been flipped by JackLNDN.

As smooth as the original was, this one is even smoother with Jack’s groovy, infectious sound. He gets down with a housey take with a deeper, more modern sound than the original. Ben’s was a more a classic, Euro electro sound, whereas JackLNDN delivers his usual fresh, contemporary club sound. This is a track you’re going to want to grab a copy of, or at least add it to your Spotify playlists for Fall. If either of those are what you’re looking for, head over to the track’s platform page today.

[Future Bass] Thoreau X Tina DeCara – Illusion

There’s no illusion when it comes to how good Thoreau and Tina DeCara‘s collaboration is. Despite it being named “Illusion” there’s no trickery here. It’s 100% legit.

Tina gets things going with her stunning performance that has her owning the introduction of the song. Sometimes a vocal is the highlight in a lackluster production, but Tina and Thoreau stand side by side and push forward with an incredible record. Thoreau’s work on this is fantastic, bringing a cool take on future bass to the table. “Illusion” is currently on all digital platforms, so if you like what you’re hearing, go on ahead and get yourself a copy or add it to your Spotify playlist.

[Trap] URBANO & Greg Gatsby – So Easy

Boston and Philly teamed up by way of Greg Gatsby and URBANO. “So Easy” is their creation and it must have come together that way because it’s a seamless treat. With all the talent involved in this, you know you’re getting into something out of the ordinary.

“So Easy” is a hybrid trap single that takes some subtle influence from its heavier dubstep counterpart. In regards to the vocals from URBANO, we get a mix of the more poppy, sing-song style with hip-hop lines that give this song its extra dynamic edge. Get your copy of “So Easy” today from Beatport and stay tuned for more from both Greg Gatsby and URBANO!

[Indie] Sumera – Faith

Some people say faith is all you need. Here in the dojo we’d say that “Faith” by Sumera is all you need. Released on Don Diablo’s HEXAGON label, this indie single is not what you’d expect coming from an electronic music producer’s dance imprint. It’s totally coming out of left field, but then again it strikingly fits.

“Faith” has a bit of an R&B feel to the vocal while the instrumental shares a different tone. Sumera takes the lead with her performance that will bring chills to your core. Musically this single is an atmospheric, almost industrial feeling product. It’s not even your average tune if you take out a dance music label part of the equation. It’s a unique tune that you should grab a copy of from digital stores just as we have.

This hair-raising tune by Sumera is part of a trilogy and the follow-up single to ‘Animal’ which I released earlier this year on my label. Sumera is an amazingly talented singer and artist in her own right and showcasing talent and passion is what HEXAGON is all about. Let’s keep pushing things forward.

[House] J. Worra – Downtown Diva EP

The house head J. Worra just dropped a hot EP called Downtown Diva on IN/ROTATION this week. The Chicago to LA producer’s biggest project yet comes in at five songs in length. Together they make for a super solid EP.

J. Worra’s cool club sound is something that has garnered attention from impressive labels with IN/ROTATION being the latest addition to her supporters. Deep, techy and incredibly fun, all her tracks, including every single one on Downtown Diva gives the listener some lively grooves to dance to. As a producer/DJ, that’s the goal right? She meets the goal time and time again. What really makes this project stick out to us is sometimes bigger tech projects like this can get a bit stale, but J. keeps things fresh from start to finish. [Music Video] Logan Henderson – Bite My Tongue

Logan Henderson‘s single “Bite My Tongue” came out in the middle of September and has since received praise from media, as well as plenty of plays from fans. Although it’s only his second solo single, Logan has quickly established himself with this endeavor. Today we’ve got the music on top of his brand new music video.

For those who are new to “Bite My Tongue” it’s a well done track created in fusing genres like electronic, pop and indie. Logan’s distinct style is clearly evident in this. With the music video we get to see a dark portrayal of the London streets. To be honest it feels more like a full on Hollywood production than a music video, telling a story instead of simply adding a stimulating visual component to a song. It’s very well done. Take a peek below and add this to your Spotify playlist if you haven’t yet!

[Hip-Hop] TastyTreat- Summer (Don’t Go) ft. Wasiu

Today we have the newest song from producers Tasty Treat and Montreal rapper Wasiu called “Summer (Don’t Go).” If the title doesn’t give it away, this song talks about the good things about Summer and how the majority of people don’t want the season to go.

Treat’s production gives off the Summer time feeling; it’s bouncy and it even has birds chirping at some points in the song to give it some natural tones. Wasiu’s rapping is a list of things that makes Summer the best time of the year when he raps, “This feel like BBQ parties, pools uncles who say it’s way hotter out in Haiti/ It tastes like sweat dripping drunk kisses smudged lip stick dumb water fights gone crazy.” This track is an essential for any future summer time parties/cookouts. If you want to add this song to your playlist check it out on TastyTreat’s SoundCloud or on itunes.
