[Electronic] Salty Springs – Cucknite

Portland, Oregon based producer Salty Springs presents “Cucknite,” a chill house Fortnite character inspired debut release, as he set out to design music that reflects the Fortnite video game characters’ emotes.

As if playing the 1st person shooting game, and winning wasn’t enough, the Fortnite community felt the need to produce music to accompany the feeling, which Cucknite cheekily describes below:

Fornite is the first video game I’ve played since RuneScape. It’s the only game that’s as addicting as heroin. The rush of killing someone and then them watching you do a dance immediately afterwards is extremely fulfilling, and the only way I could find more fulfillment is by dancing to my own songs after a kill.

[Event Review] Gabriel Gárzon-Montano and Kali Uchis Bring the Soul to The Warfield (SF) 9/18/19

Nearly a year and a half ago, I had the opportunity to see Gabriel Gárzon-Montano perform in an intimate venue here in San Francisco. The crowd was small but the atmosphere was deferential to the rising R&B star. Reserved, soulful artistry was the theme of that show, held shortly after the release of Gárzon-Montano’s sophomore album Jardín.

This week, Gárzon-Montano played a much different show at the Warfield in San Francisco. Larger venue, larger crowd; an eager yet uninitiated group more rabidly interested in the headliner of the night, Kali Uchis. Nevertheless, Gabriel Gárzon-Montano put on an intense spectacle. The performance featured interpretive dancing, multiple costume changes, and even a shirtless stint. The set was condensed to include just his most popular songs, like “6 8”, which kick-started his rise in popularity. Gárzon-Montano did his best to match the energy and performance style of the evening’s fiery headliner, but did so in his own way. It was an interesting experience to see transformation of his performing style, reflective of his growth and flexibility as a performing artist.

The audience seemed quite appreciative and genial to Gabriel Gárzon-Montano, but the main draw of the evening was undoubtedly Kali Uchis. Between sets, the all-ages crowd was chanting her name in anticipation. During some songs, Kali only had to hit the accents and runs; enthusiastic fans sang all her lines for her. One of the highlights of her set was an electrifying cover of Donna Summer’s “I Feel Love”, a late 70’s jam that surely everyone has heard at some point in their life. Throughout the night, Kali wooed the audience with her singing chops, seductive dancing, and charismatic likeability.

If you’re a fan of either artist, check out their upcoming tour dates here. More shots from the evening below:

[Dubstep] Chime – Whirlwind

Chime has always been a producer that we’ve kept our eyes and ears on. If you’re not on the train yet, you’re about to be thanks to his new single “Whirlwind.” Not only do we get the single from Rushdown Records, but Chime is embarking on his Whirlwind Tour to accompany the release!

“Whirlwind” is a heavy dubstep hit that implores intricate sound design mixed into classic gaming sounds. We’ve been jamming this song out for a bit as its one of our favorite dub tunes of recent memory. Chime always comes out blazing and never disappoints. Add the track to your library today and make sure to grab a show ticket if he stops near you!

[House] Parker – Dysfunctional Ft. Lisa Cimorelli

Parker is easily one of the most dynamic producers out right now. His talents are not restricted to one style, or even a few similar ones. No matter the sound, Parker can deliver the goods.

His most recent delivery is the musical package “Dysfunctional” with vocalist Lisa Cimorelli. Together they cooked up a hot, poppy house treat. Whether you’re a straight-laced house head or a pop connoisseur, this heater will satisfy your ears. You’ll likely have to dance a bit to it too! Have a listen and add this one to your library today.

[Music Video] Harry Nathan – Rooftops

The Berklee School of Music student Harry Nathan has been making some solid moves as of late. The Australian producer and DJ dropped some hot beats at Ultra and has now come out with a music video for his single “Rooftops.” The indie-pop style of this track is phenomenal, just as the music video is.

Harry’s a creative person whose circle is full of other creatives. For this music video he partnered up with his friends Odeya Rush and Ryan Lee, both of whom worked on the Goosebumps feature film. Upon viewing the video, you wouldn’t guess this was just a group of friends making a video. It just happens to be that all involved are extremely talented prodigies. Enjoy!

[Indie] gabriel black – beautiful life

The one and only gabriel black has caught our ears heavily over the past year with a handful of impressive singles. Although we like to focus in on the music, we also must admit he’s got a cool laidback brand going for him as well. Musically, he recently released his debut EP, beautiful life, and we’re sharing the title track with you today.

Don’t let “beautiful life” be the only listen on the EP either as the rest of it is well worth the listen. However we’re focusing in on this unique indie crossover tune that we just can’t get out of our heads. It truly is a beautiful song that doesn’t try too hard. It’s simple, straightforward and amazing. If you didn’t know of gabriel black before, you’re in luck. Welcome aboard!

[Denver Event Preview] TMN Presents: Aaron Bordas w/ Robotic Pirate Monkey – 9/21 – Larimer Lounge

Over the past five years in the city of Denver, we’ve had the pleasure of putting on some of the most memorable and eclectic slate of electronic, indie, rock and hip-hop shows that the Mile High City has ever seen under the ‘TMN Presents’ banner. From bands and artists including the likes of Hayden James, The Knocks, Small Black, Teen Daze, Autre Ne Veut, ASTR and loads more; it was high time that we shifted our focus to the bevy of incredible local talent that Denver and Colorado as a whole have to offer. And so, it is with great anticipation that we unveil our next ‘TMN Presents’ night as we bring ascending Denver based Techno/House producer & DJ Aaron Bordas with special guests Robotic Pirate Monkey to the always welcoming and ultra raucous Larimer Lounge on Friday, September 21st.

With numerous local accolades under his banner and opening credits under some of electronic music’s most exciting names across a slew of genres, Aaron Bordas has rapidly risen from an excellent main-support act to a formidable headlining force in not just his home city, but the Western U.S. as a whole. 2017 saw the budding artist headline numerous clubs, enrapturing droves of fans in the process while pushing the boundaries of his production catalog as well with a release on Quite Right and two more in 2018 “11:16” and “Memory Lapse” in collaboration with fellow Colorado producer Dynohunter. The head of Aaron’s hypebeast is surely his excellent track curation and buzzed about shows, which have us and those who have witnessed a DJ set so excited for this show. To tune your ears in advance of our next showcase, be sure to check out Bordas’ mix series Reason and eclectically selected live sets as well.

It wouldn’t be a ‘TMN Presents’ night without at least a few of our fellow Ninjas in the building, so we’re gearing up to give away not one, but TWO pairs of tickets to Aaron Bordas’ show on September 21st, and entering is beyond simple. Just comment below (click on this post if you’re still on our front page) with the tagged friend that you’d want to take and BOOM, you’re entered.  For those who’d rather guarantee their entry, to which we HIGHLY recommend, grab your tickets from the link provided here. Until then, stream “As We Are” by Aaron Bordas above, help us spread the word, and we’ll see you all on the floor!

Sunday Night Soul [Vol. 71]

On Friday we felt the incredibly tragic loss of one of music’s greatest icons in Mac Miller. As an artist he was incredibly important to us at The Music Ninja, so we’d like to dedicate this week’s edition of Sunday Night Soul in his honor. Music can be incredibly cathartic and our hope is that this week’s collection of tunes is just as soothing for you as it was for us. As always, feel free to follow us on SoundCloud and Spotify to make sure you get alerted when the playlist are updated.

[Get Crunk] Friday Party Playlist (Vol 305)

Unfortunately we don’t have another long weekend ahead of us, but that doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy ourselves. Today is Friday and we’re saying goodbye to the week and entering into a time where we recharge our batteries whether through relaxation, partying or a mix of both. Given the fact that you are reading this now, we’d have to venture a guess and say you want to party at least a little bit. To aid you in your endeavor we’ve gathered twelve free downloads, as well as a new track from Notixx that we just had to include despite it now following our free download rules. Other records come from creatives like JEANIE, Statik Link, JACKNIFE, LondonBridge, Matroda, Jace Mek, and many more including a collaboration between PEEKABOO and G-REX. Enough talking though, let’s party!

[House] Kastra – Supreme feat. Kid Phil

Our house hero Kastra is back with another juicy tune for your ears and body. Released on GOLD DiGGER Records, “Supreme” is a hip-hop infused house collaboration with emcee Kid Phil.

Kastra has a long list of great records, but this one is definitely near the top for us. “Supreme” has everything you’d look for in a hot house track. Deep, energetic and catchy as hell, this one will surely get you on your feet and moving for a long time to come. Get your copy of it today!

[Indie/Pop] Julia Knight – Like I Used To

Back in 2016 Julia Knight took the world by storm with her epic single “Ghost of You.” After that song was released, instead of gobbling up the hype and hashing out some tracks to cash in, she took time off to really hone her skills, as well as grow up given her young age.

Now at 21 she’s back and better than ever with her single “Like I Used To.” Released through Atlantic Records’ imprint Taste And Tone, this dembow driven heater is about a strong of a return as someone could have. Julia captivates with her soothing vocal that so many of us were completely head over heels for initially. We’re glad to see her back at it and look forward to more in the future! Definitely add this one to your Spotify playlists asap.

[Dubstep] Dack Janiels – Bad Bitches

The week is almost over and we’re about ready to rage away our worries to some good old savage dubstep. In to take it away is Dack Janiels and his new single “Bad Bitches” that has been released on his co-founded imprint 40oz Cult.

The artwork describes the single as “a deafening TERROR of SPINE SHATTERING bass” and it’s not lying. “Bad Bitches” isn’t for the faint of heart. Headbangers gather as this one will have you going as hard as you can, smashing your head along to the absolutely vicious riddim inspired growls. Dack never holds back – and that’s why we love him. Enjoy his “Bad Bitches” today.

[Electronic] TWO LANES – Away

The brotherly duo TWO LANES have made their way to the Lowly Palace imprint by way of their single “Away.” The original is a follow up to their remix of “Line of Sight” by another legendary duo, ODESZA.

“Away” is a dreamy adventure that will whisk you off to a lush world created by TWO LANES. These classicaly trained creatives let musicality breath through their works, this one especially. They’ve handled future bass before, but I think they’ve taken the genre a step beyond and in a bit of a different direction here – something a lot of producers are attempting to do, but failing.

from The Music Ninja https://ift.tt/2Cr2owd

[R&B] HEWAN – Dope

The Bay to LA creative HEWAN has released her new single “Dope” that certainly lives up to its name. The soulful R&B song is an addictive ride through HEWANS hybrid sound that fuses acoustic and electronic elements together, albeit the latter more subtly. Her vocal performance is as powerful as ever and atop the Devin O’Bannon production it soars into the stars. If you were looking for a new song to throw on repeat, this is it. HEWAN has several records out that you might want to take a peak it too if you haven’t yet!
