J-Wright – Talk [TMN Video Premiere]

One premiere wasn’t enough for today, so we’ve got another one for you from the New Hampshire rapper J-Wright. His single “Talk” off the independently released Blacklight EP has come with its own music video. We’ve got it for you first here in the dojo!

“Talk” is a haunting record, with a beat that’s both shadowed and ominous. J-Wright comes in with the heat throwing his attention to the haters and naysayers. Despite its dark sound, the song is quite inspiring. With the music video J-Wright takes the lead and performs us “Talk” through two different setting sequences that jump back and forth. It’s a simple, yet compelling. Just see for yourself.

[Music Video] Negash Ali – Tantra

Today we’ve got a hot new video from international hip-hop artist Negash Ali. Coming to us from Eritrea by way of Denmark, Ali has had early success and acclaim from the likes of Complex and Huffington Post, and is hoping to reach new heights with his upcoming EP, The Ascension.

Negash Ali’s story is one of passion and resilience through hardship. Born in a refugee camp, Ali soon emigrated to Denmark with his mother to avoid the violence in his home country. Negash’s perseverance and emotion certainly come through in his tracks.

Check out the music video below for lead single “Tantra”. It’s a tune that’s all about shooting your shot: “’Tantra’ tells a story of me spotting a chick quite to my liking, and my efforts to seduce her after the fact. It speaks of all the sensations on this journey, the moments on earth where we feel timeless”, says Ali.

The sensual “Tantra” features vocal accompaniment from Danish singer Fjer. It was produced by fellow Dane Matias Saabye Kjødt, also known as TMN favorite Galimatias. If you like what you heard, definitely keep an eye out for Negash Ali’s upcoming EP The Ascension, due out on February 16th.

Restless Modern – Haunted [TMN Premiere]

We’re starting off Friday with something special for you from Restless Modern. His new song “Haunted” is premiering right now in the dojo, making you one of its first listeners. This is the young artist’s best track to date in our opinion.

Restless Modern has already swayed us with his previous work, but this song is just insane. It’s a ride, not simply a song. The dynamic production takes you through various sounds, unexpected at times, but everything works seamlessly together and the vocal cut for “Haunted” is phenomenal. All the right pieces were put together for a smash. Click play, get a copy and enjoy!

[Future Bass] OTR – Bliss ft. Ashley Leone

OTR has big things coming. He’s been hard at work on something special and his latest track “Bliss” is just a taste of it. Featuring Ashley Leone, this future-tinged original is rock solid.

“Bliss” is aptly named because that’s the feeling you’re going to get from it. The calming, yet inspiring sound is something that OTR has done in the past, but he brings some subtle twists to this to keep things fresh. If you’d like to get “Bliss’ then you can grab a copy from digital platforms today. As we said before, he’s got more coming so stay tuned!

[Hip-Hop] Kendrick Lamar – DNA. (Yung Bae Remix)

Yung Bae came through with a steaming remix of “DNA.” by Kendrick Lamar. His tasteful take doesn’t put himself first, which is not how most producers go about putting together a remix. Instead, he works with Kendrick’s vocal to come up with something incredible.

There’s no leader here, just two artists in tandem. Yung Bae replaced Kendrick’s instrumental with his own, one that doesn’t take drastic measures at being an BANGER EDM REMIX, but it is for sure a banger. His groovy beat is masterful, putting your body in motion with ease as though it was your body’s only natural response to it. Kendrick’s vocal is used throughout, instead of simply in the intro/breakdown/build and Yung Bae flexes his hip-hop sound, something we hope rappers hop on soon. Yung Bae’s where it’s at. AND, this one dropped as a free download.

[Indie/Soul] MTMBO – Mottingham

Sit back and let MTMBO sooth your soul with his original “Mottingham” on RAGS. This dreamy record from one of London’s most promising artists is about as serene as it gets. With music things are so subjective, but this is one of those songs that everybody can like.

“Mottingham” implores a soft instrumental and ethereal vocals to keep up an ambient tone. It’s soulful sound feels as though it is cleansing you with each frequency that passes through your ears. Beautiful doesn’t begin to describe this one. It’s something you just have to experience for yourself.

Ne.Hau – La dah dee ft. Katy Starr [TMN PREMIERE]

In my prime, Thursdays were the best night to go out. Yes, I still had to work, bright and early, the very next morning. Yes, I usually spent a good portion of my commute cursing myself for hitting the town, but there’s something to going out on a Thursday. The vibe is a bit more genuine. The people out are there for the music, not the scene. It’s real.

“La dah dee” is the type of track you’d hear on a Thursday night. Or at 5AM on a Saturday night, depending on how hard you’re going. Brought to you by the Austin/Denver-based producer duo Ne.Hau, it boasts sultry vocals from fellow Austinite Katy Starr, and should have you counting down the hours until quitting time.

Comprised of a wickedly dark and grimy, yet irresistibly welcoming nature, it’s not hard to imagine this original single assumedly encouraging people out to the dance floor. The driving, four-to-the-floor beat and gorgeously-crafted synths help support the latter, while a spattering of mechanical, industrial percussion provides ample intrigue for all the tech-heads out there. It’s well balanced, through-and-through.

Make sure to track both of these up-and-coming artists by clicking their links above. If you’re a true dance fan, which you wouldn’t be here if you weren’t, you’ll want to keep tabs on what they’re up to in the future.
