Some magical songs seem to pull their listener into a saccharine sweet pool of sound, while also brandishing a surgeon like precision throughout its production. “Wave”, the OKBADLANDS featuring single from rising Australian producer Golden Vessel is certainly one of those tunes. A simple and sticky melody rests atop a bed of carefully placed piano, airy pads, measured drums, and just a beautiful vocal slice from fellow Aussies, Sally and Kate of OKBADLANDS. Try not to get your swoon on to this one.
About the tune, the young Brisbanian shared: “I’d been working with Sally & Kate over the last few months producing tracks for their debut EP. I really loved working with them, and they are both immensely talented, so I decided to see whether they wanted to collaborate on this track. After a quick creative discussion over some burgers, I got stuck into finishing up the instrumental and OKBADLANDS had the vocals finished up within a week.” If only all singles this good came together so easily.
