Oh, man. Over the past year, we’ve fallen head-over-heels with the delightfully bizarre blend of raucous rock & roll and 50’s Doo-Wop from Oliver Taylor, Lewis Rollinso, and Brad Mullins, swooning over each and every release. There’s something wonderful hidden in the beautifully executed guitar work, traditional pop structures, and unconventional fluttering lead vocals. It’s something that we can’t quite put a finger on but are continually drawn to, none the less.
Today’s release brings a slight change to those who have been passionately following this Liverpool-based outfit, but fear not. Their music is staying intact, it’s just coming at you under a slightly different moniker.
The newly-named Trudy and the Romance highlight more of what we’ve come to love, as they showcase more of their self-dubbed Mutant 50’s Pop in “He Sings.” Light, airy guitars and sparse percussion work kick the tune off, giving way to a rowdy crescendo of splashy cymbals and a powerful vocal harmony.
You can find “He Sings” coupled up with the upcoming “Wild” via B3SCI Records digitally and on vinyl this June.
